Episode 8: Straight-Talk Physio Podcast --- How Does Physical Therapy Heal a Disc Herniation or Disc Bulge?

When most people think of low back pain, the first thought that comes to mind is a disc herniation or a disc bulge. People tend to associate disc herniations with surgery, often because many know of a family member or friend who went through a surgical procedure with little to no relief. Disc herniations are indeed one of the most common causes of low back pain, but what if we told you that very few patients actually NEED surgery? Physical therapy should be the first stop in treating and managing low back pain and we are going to tell you why. In this podcast episode we discuss the anatomy of a disc herniation, who is most likely to herniate a disc, why the pain is much worse than a simple muscle sprain/strain, the symptoms of disc pain and the processes we use to treat and get rid of pain. This episode answers QUESTIONS PATIENT ASK ME EVERYDAY, don’t miss out!
