Acts 18:24-26a NASB 1995
24 Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John; 26 and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue.
Acts 18:26b-28
But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he wanted to go across to Achaia, the brethren encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him; and when he had arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace, 28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

Closing thoughts
When I was in middle school there was a man named Dave who was an intern at my church. He was a college student studying to be a youth pastor. On Wednesday’s a group of middle school guys would gather at his house and play old school Atari games and then study the Bible. It was here that I learned what it meant to do life in groups.
When I was a high school student, I was given the opportunity to lead a small group of middle school boys. I didn’t have it all figured out, but it had been modeled to me, so I just did what I had been taught. My Bible knowledge needed improvement, my leadership skills weren’t the best, but there were older men and women teaching me and helping me as I did that for the younger generation.
Often when it comes to teaching the younger generation about God’s word and truth, we think it is the job of the youth and children’s pastor. We let them do that, because after all, that’s why we pay them and they’ve had training. But what is God calling you to do for the next generation? Is it time for you to step up and take on a group of middle school boys who are awkward, goofy, and looking for a place to belong? Maybe God is pointing you to step into the lives of a group of high school girls who are searching for identity in the things of the world and need a gentle nudge in the direction of Jesus. Or maybe, just maybe there is a group of children who are figuring out what God is like, and you have the opportunity on a Sunday morning to talk to them about their life and Jesus.
Don’t wait until you are a Bible scholar. Don’t wait until you can speak, read, and interpret Greek and Hebrew accurately. Do it now. There are people out there right now who need the word of God explained to them more accurately. Don’t miss your opportunity!
