Aging, like death and taxes are things we cannot avoid. Father time waits for no one. As we, our parents and love ones age, we all face a series of new challenges. Decreases in energy, memory, eye sight and hearing are common. Eventually we may reach a point where we can no longer drive and we face the problem of isolation. There is nothing sadder than to see our parents and loved ones failing health be compounded by isolation, depression and severe loneliness. Now if that is not bad enough, diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson are often associated with people 60 and older. There is no cure and these diseases are among the most devastating life altering event. Unless some action is taken, these issues will get worse. The population in the United States is getting older. According to a 2018 U.S. Census Bureau report, in 2035 “there will be 78.0 million people 65 years and older compared to 76.4 million under the age of 18.”
