Antjen Engers is a human barbarian who sustained a major head injury in the same raid that killed his family. After extensive wandering, he has found a new family in the form of a wolf pack. 

But all is not well. After a group of goblins intrudes on the pack's land, Antjen feels the pull of a rift in the land that leads deep into the earth.
