Our guest this episode is Mark Boyd from Footprint.

Although Mark’s family has been in Kenya for five generations, he grew up in the UK countryside outside Cambridge. He left eleven years ago, working in Sudan, Nigeria, Tanzania and Lebanon as a guide, photographer, ornithologist and teacher before settling in Kenya seven years ago when he started working for The Safari Collection managing Sala’s Camp in the Maasai Mara.

For the last five years Mark has been based in Nairobi running The Safari Collection’s multitude of community and conservation projects around Kenya. He is a passionate environmentalist and an ardent believer in the absolute importance of involving communities in successful conservation narratives. More recently he has become the first director of The Safari Collection’s new foundation called Footprint which brings all of their many projects and fundraising under one umbrella.

He also sits on the board of the Kenya Wildlife Trust and is a member of The Long Run.
