A Somalian native who grew up in Saudi Arabia, Yasmin Abdi is living proof that no obstacle is too big for you to overcome in the pursuit of what you love. From her small village she taught herself photography over a three year period using only YouTube, online blogs and Google Translate. Her story so impressed the likes of photographic giants Chase Jarvis and Jasmin Star that Creative Life did a feature on her and her work.

Yasmin’s relentless strength is her willingness to learn and continually improve. After refining her skills on the streets of Saudi Arabia she pushed her boundaries further by moving to the US to improve her English, pursue a business education and launch her own Photography Business. From hustling it by handing out business cards at Friday Mosque, to covering free wedding shows just so she can promote herself, Yasmin shows us that no excuses exist in the face of what we want to create! All we need to do is simply move forward.
