In John 8:12 we see Jesus make an incredible statement. He says, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Understand, that Jesus is making a statement about his identity — He is claiming to be I AM. What we find in this text is that Jesus is the light of the world because He is the great I AM.
