Affliction is a part of the human experience, both from within and from without. What do afflictions teach us about the nature of our affections? About God's affections for us? How can Jesus say, "my yoke is easy and my burden is light" and at the same time tell those that wish to be his disciples that they must "take up their cross and deny themselves?"
