Types of Conflict within Relationships

  1. Sin of one spouse
    • Not just affairs. This is a true infraction, not an imagined one. (sexual sin, angry outburst, substance abuse, thievery, pride, envy, conceit, controlling behavior)
  2. Immaturity or brokenness of one person
    • Most people get married totally unaware of their spouses shortcomings.
  3. Hurt feelings that are no one’s fault
    • Things we are sensitive about but are not actually attacks or offenses.
  4. Conflicting desires
    • Difference of preferences (type of movie, type of restaurant, etc)
  5. Desires of one person vs the needs of the relationship
    • When one persons desires are not beneficial for well-being the marriage
  6. Known vs Unknown problems
    • Denial vs. Blind Spots
