The purpose of the show is to address some of the medical questions Dr. Jason Cohen is asked by friends, family and often strangers with help from his non doctor co-host, Raya O'Neal. Raya isn’t afraid to ask the questions people who didn’t go to medical school want to know.
Dr. Cohen and Raya also love to talk pop culture and how it relates to health and medicine — like celebrity diets, Amy Schumer speaking out about endometriosis and what’s true about how medical professionals are portrayed in TV and movies.

Then, we talk about real and stranger than fiction injuries, like the man who was struck by lighting seven times (on different occasions) and survived! Then, (17 minute mark) we talk about Chris Hemsworth sharing his genetic test results with the world -- while Chris was working on his new docuseries, Limitless, he underwent genetic testing and discovered that he has two copies of the APOE4 gene. Only 2 to 3% percent of people are reported to have two copies of the gene, one from his mother and one from his father, which give him an increased risk of having Alzheimer’s disease.

Innovator, creator and an MD, Sandy Heck joins the show! He tells us about the invention of a tool he co-created, that’s used in laparoscopic surgeries around the world, often referred to by surgeons as ‘D-HELP’ (de-fogging, heated, endoscopic, lens protector). So naturally, we pick his brain about how he was able to start a business, get patents and FDA approval all while attending Cornell for medical school.
Sandy also tells us doctors constantly approach him with their ideas for new inventions that would help them in the operating room, and about the surgical product he and his business partner recently launched. Plus, Sandy gives us tips on how to make a prototype that works!
Jamie Lassner joins the show! He tells Dr. Cohen about working as an EMT on September 11th (9:30 minute mark) and witnessing the second plane hit the World Trade Center. A writer for the long running series was subject to an internal investigation to determine if elements about her personal story like undergoing an abortion and chemotherapy, which are storylines she used in the series, were not accurate.

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Dr. Cohen and Raya speak with two very special nurses in their lives who share compelling stories from their nursing careers. The latest numbers are in for America — childhood obesity rates are now reaching 19% or roughly 1 in 5 children, and then there’s a recent report claiming an all-time high of nine U.S. states with adult obesity rates above 35%. A-listers like Natalie Portman and Beyonce are going vegan and endorsing plant based diets along with many other celebrities that promote their diets on social media.
