Africa is joined by Paseka Letsatsi, Spokesperson for the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to talk about the reapplication of the R350 social relief of distress grants. 

The Department of Social Development has now said that those who have benefited from the R350 social relief of distress grant need to re-apply.

This comes after the lifting of the National State of Disaster earlier this month. The grant is set to be constructed under a new legislative framework.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced during his state of the nation address earlier this month that the grant will be extended for another year from April 2022 to March 2023
