On this episode of SEPADPod Simon speaks with Yaniv Voller, Senior Lecturer in the Politics of the Middle East at the University of Kent. Prior to that he was a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh. Yaniv has published widely on the Middle East, focussing on themes as diverse as militias, states, sovereignty, and the Kurds. His first book, The Kurdish Liberation Movement in Iraq: From Insurgency to Statehood was published by Routledge in 2014. You can find Yaniv on twitter at @YanivVoller.

On this wide ranging episode of SEPADPod (recorded before the latest round of violence between Israel and Hamas) Simon and Yaniv cut across such disparate themes as the nature of violence, states and Kurdish politics.
