When Jeremiah fell into discouragement watching the triumph of evil, God helped him by providing perspective.-1. God rebuked Jeremiah with the perspective that there is worse suffering. -v.1-6--2. God re-oriented Jeremiah with the perspective of a bigger lament - that God watched the triumph of evil in His own beloved people, and that God would need to abandon His people, in order to reorient and heal them. -v.7-13--3. God re-assured Jeremiah with the perspective that God would uproot and re-establish nations, in order to re-assure His people with a long-term view, and invite all nations to worship Him. -v.14-17--Applying- Where do we see God's character in this passage--How do we explain that the wicked are prospering- Psalm 73-1-28-Why do we think we know better than God- Job 38-2-3-Who should question whom- Romans 9-20
