This video describes the avoidant attachment style type and two substyles of the avoidant attachment category. In particular, Dr. G will be discussing both avoidant and ambivalent/fearful attachment styles.

There are two dimensions that are active as a part of components of attachment styles:

  1. Anxiety
  2. Approachability

This is the third part of a three-part video series on understanding attachment style types. You can view videos 1 and 2 here:

  1. Why does your attachment style matter?
  2. Different Types of Attachment Styles

Some avoidant attachment traits can include: - Feeling insecure about approaching other individuals - Relationships and reaching out to new people are not considered "safe" - Seeing a source of conflict coming from others can lead to more avoidant behavior

If you have any questions, feedback, or stories regarding attachment styles, we would love to hear them below! We are always open to video topic suggestions as well if a particular topic would be helpful to you or someone you know :).
