Over the years we’ve explored countless soundtracks, celebrated the composers who bring our favorite films, games, and television shows to life, and shared our love of film music with listeners around the world. None of it would have been possible without you.
In this farewell episode, Will and Wendell reflect on the journey of the show, share some memories from behind the scenes, and offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the podcast along the way.
While the show is ending, the music — and the conversations — will live on.

This episode represented much of what Ian hoped IDO would be – a film that was much maligned being defended vigorously by those who loved it, and Ian LOVED Alien 3. It was also a thrill for him to podcast with Erik Woods of Cinematic Sound Radio fame, who absolutely brought it as well. Longtime listeners will remember our show In Defence Of, created by Ian Crabb, Will Dodson, and Wendell Jones, and hosted by Ian from 2015 to 2017. A fan favorite podcast on our network, IDO was a concept thought up by Wend and Will, and offered to Ian after his appearance on Episode 11 of the main show. Ian then took the show and made it his own, crafting the format, segments, and making it the AMAAAAAZING podcast it was. We now present to you the episode that was easily the most popular among them all – Transformers. Ian despised this film, but in the interest of fair play he agreed to take part, resulting in so much hilarity that the episode could hardly contain it. Please enjoy this banger from the vault, as we remember Ian fondly, doing what he did best.

In our sixth episode, we’re off to the icy, cold snowscape that is the kingdom of Arendelle to discuss the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, the highest-grossing animated film of all time, Frozen, with it’s multiple award-winning songs by the husband-and-wife songwriting team of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and it’s awe-inspiring soundtrack by the very gifted Christophe Beck.
Joining us here again at Sideshow HQ is our co-host from the West Coast, Rachel Herrick, to chat about this generation’s The Lion King, the 2013 musical fantasy Frozen. As usual we discuss our favourite songs, our first experiences watching Disney’s most successful film in recent years and why it deserves all the hype and accolades it’s received!
Alongside Wendell, our Disney Legend Chris Lyndon brings us another tasty gem from the Disney Music Archives. This week Chris brings us a lushly orchestrated and oft-forgotten song from the 1948 film Melody Time, ‘Once Upon a Wintertime’. Chris classes up the joint with his knowledge once again, he schools us all on package films, the tune’s incredible vocalist Frances Langford and legendary artist Mary Blair and her unforgettable work at Disney.
Finally, to celebrate Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary, Will, Wend and Chris will be setting sail on the Sideshow pirate galleon to see what magic awaits them at Fantasyland in their In the Parks segment. So grab your pixie dust, and meet us for a flight to Neverland! We guide you through one of Disneyland’s greatest classic rides, the endearing “Peter Pan’s Flight”. We’ll be covering all versions and their revisions over the years, the enchanting music and of course, our experiences aboard the suspended, dark ride, particularly at Walt Disney World.

Produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Chris Miller, this spin-off prequel to the Shrek franchise features music which plays to the comedy, excitement, adventure, spirit and magic of this imaginative fairytale. Inspired by one of the most important Spanish composers of the 20th Century, Manuel de Falla, Henry Jackman used folk instruments from Latin America and blended the incredible guitar talents of Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela with an orchestral palette influenced by Debussy and Ravel to create the score.
