"I can do it myself!" is a phrase we hear from our kids who are learning, for themselves, how to do the things they will need to do by themselves as they mature. That's a good, healthy, thing! However, refusing to receive or ask for help when we really need it, is not a healthy thing. We are designed to live in community and we are each gifted to give and receive help from each other. For example, I am color blind. I am incapable of seeing the color red or green, or any combinations. If I need to buy a purple shirt for my son, I'm going to need help from someone who can see purple. More than likely, my asking for someone to help me will, actually, make that person happy!
