We often forget the power of numbers. The government is so afraid of us figuring out that we, the people, are more powerful than they ever will be. Look at the way the stock market just changed! The "little guy" just took it by storm. The little guy had the big boys on wall street in fear and panic. Think about that! We can win if we all just unite! Don't let the government stand between us and point out our differences. They want to keep us separate by pointing out why we are all different. Don't give into that narrative and stand up as a united nation!

If I had to say one macro was more important than any other it would have to be protein!

Why?

That's because your body needs protein to build and repair muscle, make enzymes, and hormones. It's also a building block for bones, muscles, skin, and other organ functions!

Also, when it comes to weight loss protein is more satiating so you stay less hungry when eating less. More importantly though it helps you keep muscle and build muscle from workouts. If you don't eat enough protein and you lose weight you will just look the same only smaller and that's not the point of losing weight. We want to lose weight to look better!!

If you're missing protein in your diet and want some help, join my free Facebook group.

Remember that game we used to play as kids where the first kid would come up with a word and then whisper it into the ear of the kid next to them and this is repeated until the last kid who finally says the word they heard?

Most of the time it was the wrong word!!!!

This is exactly happens when we don't directly tell our message to someone. It get distorted!!!

When we communicate we need to be direct and concise about what we are trying to say or do.

Unlike the game where it's funny, this will lead to a lot less headache!

Communication is key!

It's building up your mindset and personal growth.

Think about it, how hard is it to say no to eating bad food?

These are all things that we learn to develop through fitness.

I want you to think about this.

Are you taking your fitness serious enough to do something about it or are you just going through the motions?

Too often we let this go because, well, life gets in the way!

The thing is, if we don't take care of our health our life WILL suffer.

It may not be tomorrow or one month from now, but eventually we won't be able to do as much for our family and friends.

So think about how serious you're taking your health.

Think about a friend who might not be either!

Take a few minutes to listen to this episode and see what you can do to take your health more seriously!

What's the difference between motivation and inspiration?

Motivation gets you amped up to do something based on a surface level and often fleeting feeling.

Inspiration gets you amped up to do something based on a deep emotional level that at least lasts longer than motivation, but usually is what gets people to actually take action!!

Think about it this way, when you hear a speech on something and it gets you fired up. You're ready to go out and do something, but you're still driving or had something else in your day to finish first. Because you had these things to finish first by the time you get to the thing you were so ready to do you've lost all that fire.

That was motivation.

Now think about a time where you heard something and it "triggered" something inside you. Something that you just couldn't turn off until you took care of this "new situation" that perhaps you didn't realize was a pain point in your life. You had been just letting it be a thought, but never something that seemed urgent, but now you think about it all the time. You get knots in your stomach when you haven't accomplished it yet.

This is inspiration - when you have something that you HAVE to get done or it'll eat you up.

So which one are you trying to bring into your life more? Motivation or Inspiration

What is it and how does it work?

Deloading is literally either taking a rest week or going lighter on weight for a week or two.

This is something that powerlifters use more than bodybuilders or other lifting styles.

The reason being is that they're constantly putting their joints and CNS under stress and they need this time off to let those recover.

If your CNS or joints start to feel sore/in knots then it's time for you to do a deload week.

I recommend about every other month, but depending on the person you may extend that out a little longer.

We all know that sticking to a diet isn't easy, especially when it comes to staying at home or on vacation.

You've worked so hard to get the progress you've gotten! Don't let it slip away now.

What you want to do is schedule out your meals.

Don't just eat when you feel like it because a lot of times we are just bored. It has nothing to do with actually being hungry.

Also, if you are going to have something sweet, replace that rice in your meal with let's say a brownie.

Disclaimer

I'm not saying to always eat like this. ha!

There are a lot of misconceptions out there to getting toned.

Usually it includes cutting weight and while that may be partially true it's not completely true.

In order to really get toned you have to have muscle!

So how do you get that muscle?

Well it all depends, but the best way to really grow muscle faster and in more specific areas is to do two things!

  1. Put your muscle under a lot of tension and time under that tension

  2. Focus on hitting specific muscle groups more often instead of doing just full body workouts.

When we focus on what we can't eat and how we can't go out to eat we become miserable.

Our diet seems like such a hassle and we end up stressing out which causes us to retain weight or even gain weight which is the opposite of what we want to do.

So, instead of focusing on the "lack of" in our diet, we need to focus on what we will gain from the diet.

Confidence, better looks, our health, discipline; you name it. You can gain a lot from a diet!

If you focus on making your meal prep too tasty you could burn out, but worse than the burn out is over eating! So you have to find that "sweet" spot. No pun intended!

Too tasty and you over eat. Too bland and you under eat.

Focus on finding the middle ground and don't focus too much on the sodium intake. It's not as important as hitting your macros!

I read a post that said being negative took more energy. At first I thought that that wasn't true until I started thinking about it more.

In the short term it really does take less energy. It's easy to do. To talk about. To put things off. To not do the right thing.

All of it's easier in the short term, but the long term is the difference.

To see yourself in the same spot. Hurting people. Not going anywhere. It all hurts!!!

So, taking the negative route, while being easy and taking less energy in the short term takes more energy in the long term.

If you’re finding yourself, sore, fatigued, or hungry after a workout listen up ‼️

Most people don’t know this secret so keep it between you and me 🤫

What you do post workout will help or hinder your soreness, fatigue, and hunger after that great workout you just had!

So what’s the secret?

It’s by taking a good quality whey protein shake paired with fast absorbing carbohydrates.

The reason being is that your body is low in glycogen post workout.

Replenishing your glycogen stores and spiking your insulin for maximum protein and nutrient assimilation is key.

Most people stick to just protein post workout.

While this is okay, your body has to use the protein and convert it into glycogen first and then use what’s left for protein to help build muscle.

If you simply add in carbohydrates like ignition to your post workout shake you allow your protein to do what it’s supposed to do..be protein!!!

So the reason you may not be seeing the gains, staying sore, having lack of energy, and hungry after a workout is due to improper post workout!

You are what you eat, unless it’s chicken, then you must be on meal prep 😂

Pro tip:
When it comes to meal prep, preparing large amounts of protein sources at once helps spread the “work load” out.

I like to cook about 10 pounds of chicken and 6 pounds of ground turkey at a time.

I utilize enough for 5-7 days and freeze the rest for later.

Sometimes I’ll cook the same batch again so if I go out of town when i get back I just thaw out that prepared meat and prep later that night!

What’s your meal prep game look like?

This is a question I have asked myself recently.

I realized that my podcast wasn't growing much because I wasn't marketing it. I was doing the work by releasing new podcasts, but that was it.

This is how life is. Just because you do the work doesn't necessarily mean that people will see it. You have to market that you're doing the work as well!

So take action today and let people know what you're doing, whether it be a podcast or new business venture. You've got to let the people know!!!

In life there are a lot of things that can get us down.

We fail, we get ridiculed, we get told lies. All these things can hurt and deter us from what we truly want.

In life we have to have an "it is what it is" mentality.

The reason being. so we can shrug these things off!

Other people's opinions shouldn't matter to us and creating this mentality will help us conquer our day, then our week, and eventually our life!!!

Clay is a purpose driven coach. He helps teachers, administrators, and more specifically men, find their purpose in life.
In this episode we really dove into how ego can really get in the way. Clay brings up a great story about how ego changed his life, unfortunately in a negative way at the time, but now he uses his story to help drive him to teach others to not let ego get in their way and to live their life with purpose and intention.

Happy New Year!! It's 2020 and you know what that means? Time to start working on the things for THIS year!!

Why were you waiting though?

Probably because you were afraid.

Don't be afraid! START DOING!!

Overthinking is really your problem though.

To stop overthinking, you have to just act when you have a thought.

Don't wait for that thought to settle or you won't take action!

So many things happened this year.

From 3 job/career changes, to get engaged and married. Moving into a new home with my wife, joining a new networking group, and setting bigger goals.

Most importantly, the impact that I made on this world.

Lastly, I just wanted to thank you all for supporting me this year!

Too often we spend time celebrating accomplishments that every one else does and then don't celebrate or cheer people on when they're achieving above average things.

I know it can be hard to see people doing better than you, but celebrate those people, because one day you will want to do something that isn't "normal"

So learn to celebrate not only the average things, but those that are extraordinary!!

Have you ever noticed that you can talk yourself out of something far easier than talking yourself into something?

Why is that?

Well we have a lot of things going on in life. Life gets "busy" and we say we can do it later..I need to get something else done first..it can wait..

So many excuses for why we can't do that thing we wanted to do now.

It's time to STOP making the excuses and start talking ourselves into doing something.

Have you ever thought about what would happen if you didn't start that side hustle or that new job?

Chances are you have, but you let that self talk inside.

Have you even thought about how important daily tasks are?

They are vital to your business or job. Too often most companies and people want to do a performance review or life review once a year and that's too little!!!

If you want to know where you're at towards your goals you need to do daily tasks!

The reason being is it allows you to track your progression towards your goals or company targets and be able to adjust DAILY if you start going off target.

With yearly goals you can't do that!

A lot of people are afraid of failing, but that's where the growth happens! Stop being afraid and take that leap!

If you aren't failing, then you aren't really trying. Failure doesn't mean you lost. It means you tried something outside of what you knew you could do. Failure only truly happens when you give up forever.

This is just some of the thoughts I had over this past year. At the time of this recording it was my birthday and I talked about the different things that happened this past birth year. One year can make a huge difference, while one day won't. Don't fear the failures of one day. That one bad day won't ruin your whole life, just like one good day won't change your life either. Yes, there are anomalies, but for the most part, one day won't change your life forever.

So stop living for the day, weekend, or month, and start living for the year, decade, or life.

My challenge to you is to write down at least 5 big things you want to happen this next "birth" year! You could just choose today to be the day to start the year mark. Don't delay your life by waiting for a new year to start something new. START NOW!!!!
