An altar is a place of transaction. An altar can be a place of exchange. 

Altars are empowered by vows and sacrifices. Genesis 26:16-18 

Altars can be broken. 

Where to make an altar?

1. A place or time of encounter with His word. Genesis 28:16

2. A place where God has a chosen priest. 

3. A place where God has put his name.
