Entrepreneurship is an American trait — which can be abundantly observed in Benjamin Franklin. He is called both the first American and first entrepreneur of this country. Among other accomplishments, he:

• Founded America’s first hospital, Pennsylvania Hospital.
• Created America’s first lending library.
• Became America’s first Postmaster General, and involved himself deeply in improving its mail system.
• Founded the University of Pennsylvania in 1740.
