Everyone has times where our efforts feel completely fruitless. On the flip side, some Christians are so heavy-handed with their message that they push the lost and lonely even further away.How do we find the balance?In this talk, we'll walk though Romans 1:14-16 to explore three powerful attitudes that balance a burning passion for the lost with an authentic, relational approach to sharing the truth.If you are a Christian content creator, gamer, or just someone trying to navigate your faith in a post-Christian world, this message is for you.
If you are walk into any situation - work, home, conversation, content creation, etc. - with something to prove, something to lose, and something to hide, you are going to be absolutely miserable. You will feel anxious all the time and see people as threats who want to take your stuff or hurt you. To live a peaceful life, we need three attitudes of a surrendered person:Nothing to Prove: Whether you are trying to be the smartest person in the room, proving you have nice stuff, or overcompensating because you don't feel you deserve your relationships or job, you are living for the validation of others. You don't have anything to prove because God equipped you and knows who He created you to be. Stop trying to project your self-worth and find your identity in Christ.Nothing to Lose: If you are driven by fears like being scared of losing your status at work, your workplace will feel hostile. If you're compromising your morals because you don't want to lose a friend group, you'll never feel at ease with them. But if you present your body as a living sacrifice, you've already given your life away. You can't threaten a dead man. Everything you have is God's. Nothing to Hide: Living with guilt sucks. Whether you are hiding secret sin, masking mental health struggles behind a fake smile, or pretending your relationships are perfect when you're fighting all the way to church, half your energy goes to pretending. When you are transparent and stop trying to be two different people, nobody can use anything against you. Confess it and find healing. If you look at your life right now and you are existentially exhausted from pretending, find rest by walking with God with nothing to hide, nothing to lose, and nothing to prove.
We live in a world desperate for direction, and because people lack a foundation, they reach out for anything that promises stability. People are scared and lonely. They reach for pop psychology, memes, politics, or anything that promises an explanation, finding identity in a viral TikTok diagnoses or personality tests because it promises an easy fix and the ability to control an instable world. If you don't know the Word, you are an infant in a hurricane, easily manipulated.So, how do we "rightly divide" the Word without twisting it to fit our own brand?Here's a simple 3-step method:1. Context: What did it mean to the original audience?2. Interpretation: What is the universal, timeless principle?3. Application: What should I do in response to it today?

We look at the "pros" with their massive budgets, incredible tech, and huge audiences, and we think we can't possibly make a difference until we have more money or better gear.But, the greatest resource you need is not money. It’s your passion.
Today, we're talking about "maintenance mode": what it is and how to break out of it. Essentially, maintenance mode is that lingering feeling of not being ready to step into your calling. You aren't where you could be. Whether it applies to a ministry, a church, a small group, your family, or your career, you just feel stuck. You aren't ready to move forward.You still handle your responsibilities. You pay the bills, you do the bare minimum, and you make sure you're surviving. But you aren't thriving. You aren't creating. You don't feel like you are living with purpose; you are simply maintaining your life.Imagine a delivery truck designed to transport goods across the country. Now imagine taking that truck, pulling it into the repair shop, and just leaving it there. You might be tinkering with the engine to make sure it runs, but mentally, you are parked in the garage. You aren't doing anything maliciously destructive—you aren't actively slashing your own tires or wrecking your life. Instead, you are justifying your paralysis: "I just need some time to figure out who I am. I don't have the money yet. I don't have the time. I don't feel spiritually or relationally equipped. So, I'm just going to stay in the shop and let God work on me."That season of rest and repair is healthy for a while. But you cannot live in the shop.Unfortunately, some people stay parked there indefinitely. I believe the primary reason is that they aren't entirely sure what they are built for. They haven't defined their purpose. Consequently, their daily motivation is reduced to merely surviving: "How do I just get through today?" That deep passion—the fire that gets you out of bed, the conviction that compels you to take risks, invest your resources, and stay up late creating—has faded. Without a compelling reason to push forward, they stop living and start merely existing.
Are you constantly stressing over what you are supposed to do with your life, jumping from idea to idea but never feeling like you actually fit?We live in a culture that tells us to chase prestige or simply copy whatever successful people are doing. We live in a world that thrives on negativity.If you surround yourself with pessimistic people and toxic algorithms, you will catch that exact same mood. Then we try to fix our anxiety by controlling everyone around us or escaping into entertainment, but those things never actually bring peace.In this session, we look at Psalm 112 and Philippians 4 to discover how a person can live unafraid of bad news.You cannot survive the negativity of this world by treating your spiritual life like a tiny, once-a-day multivitamin. You have to actively fight the toxic environment by being radically generous to the people right in front of you, bringing your anxieties to God in prayer, and purposely fixing your thoughts on whatever is true, pure, and excellent.
Are you trying to navigate your life on your own because you've forgotten how to trust people?We live in a culture where it is incredibly hard to trust leaders, pastors, teachers, doctors, professionals, companies.... But when we refuse to seek guidance, we end up suffering and exhausted.In this session, we look at the book of Judges to see the danger of an entire generation that lacked leadership.Even if your natural instinct is to distrust people, you cannot survive without guidance. You need a mentor to pour into you, and a biblical obligation to start pouring into someone else.
Are you making major decisions based solely on what's efficient, logical, or profitable?When things get tough, it is incredibly easy to look around at what is working for everyone else and try to copy it. In Judges 2, the Israelites got into trouble because they stopped trusting God and started copying the religious practices of the surrounding culture. Today, creators do the exact same thing: we follow the algorithms, the hustle culture, and the financial advice of the secular world without ever stopping to ask God for wisdom.Life and content creation become exponentially harder when we rely purely on secular thinking. If you only look at your problems through a physical, biological, or financial lens, you are missing out on the spiritual reality of how God operates. The secular mindset thrives on fear, telling you to panic, go into debt, and work yourself into burnout. But the biblical approach often looks like taking a Sabbath, waiting patiently, and making small, faithful steps of obedience—even if it means making less money.
It is so easy to fall into a scarcity mindset: the toxic belief that there just isn't enough success, money, or audience to go around. When we believe the system is broken and everything is unfair, we stop seeing other people as allies and start seeing them as competition.In this session, we talk about how a scarcity mindset pressures us to compromise our integrity. It tempts us to cheat, to sell things we don't believe in, and worst of all, to turn the real people in our community into "content fodder" just to make ourselves look good.The biblical way to fight the scarcity mindset isn't to hustle harder or hoard your resources—it's to be radically generous. Instead of panicking and rushing into debt the next time you face a massive hurdle or an unexpected bill, try stopping and asking: "I wonder how God is going to solve this problem?"
Have you ever felt like you're constantly under attack?The second reason life is so hard is because we are living in a battleground. Whenever you step up to do something positive, serve other people, and glorify God with your gifts, you are stepping onto an active spiritual battlefield full of trolls, misery, temptation, and an unseen reality that secular advice often completely ignores.
Lonliness brings chaos into your life.We’re starting a new six-week series talking about why life gets hard, whether in content creation or just life in general. The first thing that makes life more difficult is when we are isolated. Looking at the Book of Judges, there was no authority and accountability in Israel, and everyone did what was right in his own eyes. When you are by yourself, that is where things go completely crazy. This is the "chaos of isolation."People tend to think that if they are left alone, or if they are given more freedom, they will be able to guide themselves into happiness. But the truth is, we need walls, fences, and an edge to the sandbox so we know where we're playing. Being left alone doesn't lead to flourishing; it leads to burnout.- Left to yourself, you will go crazy. Having zero rules is actually pretty dangerous.- Retreating into a bubble because of past hurt often leads to falling into temptation, heresy, and folly because there is no one to bring correction.- Trying to create without support sucks.- You have to make the choice to find a healthy church, Discord, or friend.- You don't need a million friends.
Are you trying to be an excellent content creator, but terrified that everyone just thinks you're cringe incarnate?Insecurity is usually the wall we hit right when we’re supposed to be moving forward. When we feel that pull to create or build a community, it's so easy to throw up a million excuses. We convince ourselves our equipment isn't good enough, we're too old, or we just don't have the right personality. We end up feeling like, "I don't talk so good—please just send someone else"But here is the truth I had to learn the hard way: there is no such thing as a "lone wolf" creator. You don't have to be the visionary, the editor, the community leader, and the tech wizard all by yourself.Having gaps in your skills isn't a reason to quit. Those gaps are exactly where someone else is meant to step in and partner with you. Your insecurities might govern your speed, but they don't have to stop the work. Your vision is valuable. If you've been using your limitations as an excuse to stay obscure, it's time to connect with others and let her rip.
We’re continuing our series on common creator fears. Every content creator goes through some kind of hesitation, fear, or frustration that blocks them from being who God created them to be. For me, I’ve realized I have a sense of insecurity about abandonment. When the viewer count goes down, it’s not just a "bummer"—it’s a feeling that I’ve messed something up and people don’t like me anymore.Psychologists call this the "spotlight effect"—the tendency to overestimate how much others are noticing your flaws. But our job isn’t to come up with the perfect words or try to look powerful. Our job is to be who God created us to be and create what we believe He wants us to create.
Impostor syndrome is essentially a persistent inability to believe that your success is actually deserved. The underlying feeling is: "If they really knew...". If they knew how bad I am with time, how divided my heart is, or how little I know what I’m doing, they’d never listen.Regardless of your level of success, you still get hit with this feeling that you’re just not enough. I’ve lived this. When I was a young pastor newly out of seminary, I didn’t think I knew what I was doing, so I tried to pattern myself after others—trying to sound like Mark Driscoll or Chuck Swindoll. Even now as a streamer, I struggle with view counts because there is "no good number". If the number is high, I feel like I've fooled everybody; if it's low, I feel like it's what I deserve.But I want you to consider this: Is it possible that your fear of inadequacy will actually make you dependent on God? When God called Moses, Moses didn't list his education or power; he asked, "Who am I?". God’s response wasn't about Moses' skills—it was simply, "I will be with you".Your feeling of calling is more important than your credentials. That feeling of "I don't know what I'm doing" actually becomes a qualifier. It keeps you praying, preparing, and making sure what you say has value. I’m here to serve you, not to feed my own ego.
One of the biggest things we need to understand is that people care about why we do what we do. Your motives behind your content are just as factored in as your talent.Whether it's through "thin-slicing" or involuntary micro-expressions, your true intent "leaks" out through the screen. If you're in it for the clout, the money, or the ego, your audience is going to clock that "vibe" in a heartbeat.I'm not here to judge; I'm here to challenge. We need to check our hearts because if our motives are purely for display and self-success, we are going to be in real trouble when we try to serve a community. Join me as we walk through seven hard questions to audit our motives and ensure we’re creating out of genuine love and service.
Every creator dreams of going viral, having a huge charity stream, or partnering with big brands. That instinct to serve more people is a good thing! But God doesn't usually start you there. I've been talking a lot about my personal story on Twitch, in the TACO Training classes, and to folks in the community, so I thought that, in this episode, I'd share a seven-part testimony series I released in early 2021.
As I edited these together I realized just how transitional my life was then. My time as pastor of my previous church had come to a close and I was seeking God's will for what I was to do next, and over the course of those seven episodes, I went from never having live streamed in February 2021 - to considering some kind of live Q&A, community stream - to starting a Twitch channel which had one podcast discussion stream and one game night stream, to launching into an official full-time, 5 day per week Twitch streamer by the end of April. I'm still amazed, 20 months later, at how many things God was doing then, and has continued to do!

This week, I need a little time to concentrate on building up my 3D Printing Business so it can be a bit more successful and provide more for my family – and, after seeing such rapid and encouraging growth on my channel lately, I felt it was time I updated and improved the biography and vision pages on my website, “About Me” on Twitch, and contact churches, ministries, and individuals – inside and outside my circle – and introduce myself and explain Christian Ninja Online Missions.
I believe with all my heart that God has called me to stop seeking a traditional pastoral position (as I’ve had for the past 16 years) and serve the online gaming and streaming community full-time. I’ve had my vision, calling, and gifting affirmed by many Christian elders and have raised some support already. So, my current task (and biggest need) is to find people who share my excitement for what God is doing on this new frontier of global missions and want to enable me to pour my whole heart into this work through their financial support.
It’s not something I’ve ever done before, so please keep me in prayer.
But, I didn’t want to skip putting out a podcast episode today – because that’s a bad habit that I don’t want to start – so I went through my website analytics and decided to share what is probably, my most popular message, all about Jesus’ relationship with children and what that means to us today.
