Homily for the Tuesday of the First Week of Lent
"Prayer is a surge of the heart, it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy."
Prayer is simply a response to God's love. It can take many forms. But at its heart it is a chat, a conversation, a mutual listening, a comfortable relationship. It is not gabbling your way through a set formula, but it is a loving encounter, as when two good friends meet up and share with one another about things that matter to them both. Today, spend some time just by simply saying the Our Father, and let those words, those phrases, sink into your heart.
