You may have noticed it's been a pretty shocking year for natural disasters. 

Up and down the east coast of Australia our emergency service workers haven't gone a day without having to respond to a flood or storm, or help a community prepare for an impending disaster. 

Suffice to say they're exhausted.

This week for the first time in its history the NSW State Emergency Service has requested international assistance to help with the ongoing flood emergency in the state's Central West. 

A New Zealand Fire and Emergency team has arrived in Parkes and specialist flood rescue operators from Singapore have touched down in Sydney this morning.
