Against the backdrop of a renewed push to save the nuclear deal with Iran, and the possibility of resuming sales of offensive weapons to Saudi Arabia, the US President, Joe Biden, has landed in Israel on his first trip to the Middle East since he assumed office.

Over the next two days, he’s expected to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, before heading to Saudi Arabia for a summit of allies from around the Gulf.
