Chile has rejected change in favour of maintaining the status quo.

The country overwhelmingly voted to reject a new, progressive constitution that would have put the country at the forefront of social change. 

Despite initial enthusiasm for change, the proposed changes to social and human rights have proved a step too far for many voters.
