This week Sharifa is joined by Professor Patrick Kelly as they unpack the details of the recent Evergrande crisis - an enormous Chinese property development company with huge amounts of debt. They discuss its collapse, how it compares with the GFC and what the potential implications are for China and the broader economy.
Patrick Kelly is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance at the University of Melbourne specialising in research of information efficiency, investments and asset pricing. He holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of California, and a Masters in Economics and a PhD in Finance from W.P.Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
Previously Dr. Kelly was an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Finance Department at the New Economic School in Moscow and a Research Fellow at the International Laboratory of Financial Economics, hosted by the International College of Economics Finance and the London School of Economics.
