Good Morning & Happy Monday! This week we have the pleasure of chatting with Michael Antonie, who is an Associate Director at UBS.
Imogen talks with Mike about his career journey starting as an intern in the Consumer Products and Retail team and moving into the General Industrials team.
Mike explains what drew him to both a rewarding and challenging career path in banking, while also breaking down what a typical day looks like in his role. He then takes us through a typical day in his role and how his career has progressed over the years. They also discuss the recent surge of M&A activity and how the pandemic has impacted his role, UBS and the banking industry generally. Then, they explore the importance of diversity and representation in the finance industry and how UBS is tackling this issue. Finally, Mike provides insights into the interview and application tips for students looking to enter the banking industry. He covers networking, behavioural questions, the technical component, developing market knowledge and how candidates can differentiate themselves in an interview.
