Mayan Calendar
Laura Lassiter: The Mayan Calendar indicates this is the big kick off date for planetary enlightenment and I am thrilled to be here in 3D. This is a chronological exchange in reconnecting with Laura Lluellyn Lassiter: 5/16/06 Dear Laura, I am looking for a woman who recently visited Big Cat Rescue with the EARS group. I gave a tour to a group and was particularly impressed with an animal communicator in the group and would like to reach her, but no one could tell me her name.
5/17/06 Hi Carole, You found me. I am the animal communicator that helped to volunteer. If you would like to talk with me on the phone, my cell is 727-804-6939. I am impressed that you had my email address.
I have not had the opportunity to write you a personal thank you note yet for taking your time and introducing all the beautiful cats you are caring for. Words cannot express the magnitude of gratitude the animals feel towards you, Carole. What a blessing to live your passion on a daily basis and help bring awareness to their plight. It was my honor and privilege to be there and experience their presence. I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks not only for the tour, but for all you are doing for the big cats. I look forward to speaking with you and to help you however I can. Have a good day. For the animals, Laura
5/17/06 Dear Laura, Finding people is what I do best. I probably should hire out to law enforcement. At any rate, I am very glad to have found you. After the tour, I just kicked myself for not asking you for your contact info because I was so struck with your insight. I don't have any immediate reason for contacting you other than to let you know that I enjoyed your interaction with the cats and your ideas in the session after the tour.
It has been my intention to hold some little workshops for our people to teach them non verbal communication with the cats, but it is just something I do and not something I have ever tried to teach. I think you could do a much better job of it. I remember you saying you were not from around here, but I don't know where you call home.
I am starting these classes on the third Monday of the month and this month we are going to watch The Secret. If you haven't seen it, I think it is the best 5.00 and 90 minutes I ever spent online at www.TheSecret.tv If you would consider being a guest speaker at one of these classes or at our monthly volunteer meeting which is usually about 45 people on the first Sunday of the month at noon, we would love to have you. Just let me know what it would take, if you are willing.
Thanks for the kind words. I am fortunate to be surrounded by incredible people who have made the sanctuary all that it is. For the cats, Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
5/17/06 Hi Carole, First, I just moved off of Clearwater Beach to the Snell Isle area in St. Pete. Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, I have been here since 1989. I apologize for any misunderstanding as I have never considered myself being from Florida. Travel, therefore, is no problem. I had been considering volunteering some time previous to my visit when I met someone at Panera who told me of a black cat that was being read to every Sunday. What an incredible thing to do! However, the opportunity had not presented itself for me to visit your facility until the EARS workshop as I support myself as a loan officer and unfortunately in recent times, have worked 14-16 hour days. I have just started to transition as the consciousness has been evolving towards remembering a universal language for some time.
I gladly welcome the opportunity to share with you and your volunteers any knowledge that might be useful. My abilities as a communicator are quite different than most as I never lost my awareness and intuition as a child and was always encouraged to use it. Therefore, it is natural to read and translate energy and address the core issues and permanently resolve those issues. This will present itself from a spiritual point of view (such as their specific purpose in your life or why they chose to experience what they do) in addition to the physical, mental and emotional components.
I would be glad to be a guest speaker. If you will let me know what you would like to focus on or anything specific, I will share from the animal's perspective. I would also like to attend any meetings that you have with your volunteers and experience communication with the big cats. Thank you again. For the animals, Laura
5/18/06 Dear Laura, I am glad to hear that you are signing up as a volunteer. That makes it a lot easier for me to allow you access, but because of the minimum 4 hour per week requirement on your time, I did not want to ask you to commit to the program. I know we make allowances for work done off site if you are in the Partner program, which is more admin than cage cleaning, but there are some restrictions on your ability to wander if you don’t keep up minimum hours on site. The reason is the inherent danger of being around big cats and not knowing who has been moved, who is stressed because of a new cage mate, or loss of a cage mate. While I believe you can help with those situations immensely, there is a level of comfort our Volunteer Committee will need to feel with you before letting you get too close by yourself.
You perceived correctly that I am asking you to lay the foundation for something here. Our people are accustomed to me talking to the cats, detailing their illnesses to the vets from the cat's insides and while they love me, they think I am something of an anomaly. For me to say, "You can do this too." Isn't as effective as them seeing someone else who has been attracted to their cause show them that this is something we are all capable of doing.
I broke the ice with this article: http://www.bigcatrescue.org/talk_to_animals.htm
In our December? newsletter I ran a story about another animal communicator.
Our cats have spoken to me for a long time, but it wasn't until recently that I began to write for them, the way you are writing now for the animals of Katrina. Their stories have always been posted throughout the site, but that isn't who they are. They now speak out of the universal truths that inspire all of us from this page: http://www.bigcatrescue.org/spiritguides.htm These concepts are the vision I would like to ultimately share with our volunteers and then the rest of those we encounter.
For your first talk, I think just sharing what you experienced with the animals during Katrina, why that is compelling you to write and share that experience and how that can be applied to their relationships with the cats of Big Cat Rescue and their pets at home, would be a great introduction.
It sounds like you have been through some very troubling times but I am glad to know that you understand the nature of spirit and can detach yourself from the physical to see the wonder in this eternal unfolding. For the cats, Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
5/22/06 Dear Laura, Thank you for all that you do for the animals and for being willing to share your time with us. Our next volunteer meeting is June 4 at noon on the beach at Big Cat Rescue. After the meetings (30 minutes) we break into classes. What I would like to do is have you come and talk to the entire group about what you do for 10 minutes or so as a teaser to a longer, more interactive session afterward.
Since everyone would rather come to your class than any of our other classes, such as CPR, how to clean a cage, etc., we would have to announce that only those who are caught up on all of their classes could attend your class, but that we will have you come back, from time to time so they can catch it if they miss it this time. That is if you are willing to do so.
One of the key issues for me is to teach our volunteers how to have meaningful relationships with these cats without touching them. Our beliefs and safety regimens have evolved over time. We do not touch the cats (other than for medical reasons) because if a cat were to bite or scratch someone, the cat could be killed by the state and tested for rabies even if that person did not want that to happen and because to do so sends a message to those who see or hear about it that these animals could be kept as pets and that false notion is the main reason we exist. Some of our people long for the "good o'le days" when they could pet the cats they love. I miss it too, but never ask anything of our people that I won't do myself.
I can experience the same wonderful feeling of stroking the cats and feeling them purr from across 6 feet or 600 miles but don't really know how to show someone else how. I know we all can do it (and a lot more) but I am verbally challenged yet. I am working on how to convey that and will teach it, but I thought that you may be able to open that door for them by introducing them to the Universal language, as you so aptly put it. Some of the volunteers hope to persuade me to make exceptions for them to touch the cats by saying that the cat wants them to put their hands on them but it has been my experience that the cats have a much greater capacity to embrace the feeling of Oneness without physical contact.
This could be much more encompassing in time. I believe the reason most people buy wild animals as pets is because they long to reconnect with nature. We can teach them how to do that without breeding an animal for life in a cage. Eventually this could be opened up to the public by having our volunteers and tour guides become fully immersed in the wonder of truly communicating with nature.
We reach about 30,000 people each year on site and 1,000,000 hits per DAY on our website. We can spread this message pretty effectively if you are up for it. I sent the wrong dates on the Monday night classes. It is the fourth Monday of each month, not the third and the next one is May 22 at 7PM at Big Cat Rescue in the E-Center. We will be watching The Secret and then have a little discussion afterward. You are welcome to join us for either the Sunday or Monday classes, but let me know, so that I let the person at the gate know to let you in. We have never allowed the public to attend our courses, but you came into picture for a reason. For the cats, Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
5/24/06 The website where you printed the Mayan calendar page now links to Big Cat Rescue under Misc on this page: http://www.mayanmajix.com/links.html
I ordered horoscopes for me, my daughter and husband. My daughter and I are both Jaguar (what else?) and I am still reading and digesting the information. The calendar is amazingly complex and intricate.
She is 7/16/1980
Day Sign: 1-Jaguar (Ocelot)
Year: East 7
13 day: 1 Jaguar (Ocelot)
Night Lord: 7
Venus Phase: Morning Star
I am 6/6/61
Day Sign: 2-Jaguar (Ocelot)
Year: North 1
13 day: 1 Reed
Night Lord: 2
Venus Phase: Morning Star
Howard is 5/13/1980
Day Sign: 3 Road (Grass)
Year: West 3
13 day: 1 Dog
Night Lord: 1
Venus Phase: Morning Star
I am still digesting the info. Our first big corporate sponsor was and still is, Jaguar of Tampa because they were supporting two Jaguars that my husband talked me into bringing here. They died at more than 20 years of age, but Jaguar still supports us by supporting Cheetaro the Leopard out front. My daughter wants to move to Guyana (a word for God) to protect the Jaguars and Ocelots there. I am trying to keep her here and encourage her to travel back and forth to set up the 12 eco tourism lodges that the government will exchange for protecting the entire mountain range where these cats dwell. It always comes down to money, so I am trying to help her find ways to fund her passion for protecting this unspoiled place by reaching wealthy tourists here. She is going back in September. She loves living in the bush, relying on her instincts and being surrounded with animals rather than people. She is going to Jacksonville this weekend to see their multi million dollar jaguar exhibit, but is just incensed that it was reported that they took cats from the wild for their display. For the cats, Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
5/26/06 Dear Laura, I just got in and wanted to let you know that I had another long talk with Cathy about the courses and explained to her that my only purpose of having you share your talent with the group is to empower all of us to be more effective for the effort we put into the job. It makes no sense for me to introduce an element that makes the volunteer coordinator's jobs more difficult, except that if we want to know what the cats are saying, we have to listen and do something about it, which is more work than taking the easy way out and just saying we can't hear them. In time it makes our job easier because we aren't having to guess so much and suffer the consequences of guessing wrong.
She would like for you to gain her confidence and that of the rest of the volunteer committee: Jamie (my daughter), Scott the Operations Mgr who lives on site, Jen who is the week end co coordinator with Cathy and Brian who is about the most gentle and sweet person you will ever meet. All of them, except Scott are on our Board and they all make up the Volunteer Committee. Mostly, what they want to see is how this can help the cats without adding to the challenging egos of some of the volunteers they have to manage. I think that is pretty easy to do after thinking about this all day.
I explained your cotton ball idea and suggested that you share that with the VC on Saturday. On Sunday you give your little talk about who you are, what you have done and then afterwards a small group who are caught up on their classes can join us for cotton balls. What you are helping them do is realize their ability and to encourage them to feel a person at a spirit level.
While there is always the temptation of the ego to get in the middle and claim spiritual one-up-manship, we can couch the entire project in a framework of mutual respect and love for each other. Just like our volunteer program requires people to be voted into Green, participation in this program could require that one must show love and respect to their fellow volunteers including their coordinators to remain in the program. If a person cannot communicate lovingly with the people they work with they are not equipped to communicate with the cats.
I have selected the volunteer coordinators/ board members based on their ability to put the animal's needs ahead of their own and their ability to treat the volunteers fairly. This program wouldn't be the model that so many animal groups turn to if it didn't have great leadership and that is a reflection on the VC/Board. A lot of people come into the program with the attitude that they should run the show and will second guess the VC until they finally figure out that VC is working in the best interest of the cats.
It is easy for a person to say they communicate with the cats because who can contradict them, but if they cannot communicate with the VC, then it isn't likely that they are communicating from the heart with the cats. That is why I loved your phrase, Heart Whispers. It is all about the heart.
If we can present this in such a way as to make it clear that you can't be challenging your coordinator, or gossiping about your fellow keeper, or complaining about how you would do things differently, if you are coming from a place of love and acceptance of what is, then we can immediately make the VC's job easier and then they can focus more on the things that are important than the petty people issues that consume much of their time.
With the test for participation in the classes being one's ability to be kind to their fellow man, it is easy to keep this on track toward all of the ultimate good it can do. I am very excited at what I can see unfolding for all of us. For the cats, Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
5/27/06 Hi Carole, I completely agree with everything you said. This is incredible how everything is unfolding and we must give credit to the cats. They are so smart. We must have needed this awareness or they would not have asked me out Thursday.
I will work with you and share with you, your volunteers, the cats, anyone or anything what I have learned and know. My soul purpose is to help raise the consciousness of the planet and help anchor the higher frequencies. However that can be facilitated, so be it. I have already learned so much in such a short period of time being around the cats and you. There is nothing that heart energy cannot accomplish.
I understand you are taking your sanctuary to a new level, one in which has never been done before, whether it is partnering with wild animals or domestic ones. You are setting precendent and are giving new meaning and changing perceptions on how to treat our fellow spirits. I, too, feel very strong about our working together. The animals chose me a long time ago to help them in ways people were not ready to receive.
You are in process of co-creating a new paradigm for exotic animals globally. I am in awe at the process as usual. My respect and love for life deepens as I watch the cats (nature) work their magic.
You have my commitment Carole and my heart to help you. It was a big concern somewhere that needed awareness. I would never do anything to bring harm to you or the cats. I also know the courage it takes to break new ground and set the example. One doesn't need to have a "Spine-A-Thon" for me. I have backbone, stand up and accept responsibility. Any emotional needs I had for approval were released long ago. I know we can all accomplish your vision. There will be a huge transformation and transition for all..
Thank you for sharing. I am ready to do classes. I finished my article yesterday, but wanted to sleep on it overnight. Several emails will be coming today and I am posting on the blog today. I will also send you emails concerning other things that I think you may be interested in. If you do not want that, please let me know as I can imagine the amount of emails you receive. Enjoy your weekend. Thanks again Carole for sharing. For the animals, Laura
5/27/06 Dear Laura, You manage to balance on a very fine line with the apparent ease of a trapeze artist. On the one hand you seem to have mastered the ego in your willingness to go with the flow and on the other hand you know when to speak up and aren't shy about it. If you hadn't spoken up and told me that you needed to speak with the volunteers I would just have pressed on (bullheadedly, as usual) and could have gotten this off on a sour start.
You spoke the truth in saying that it starts in each person, because your decision to consult the volunteers first, made me stop and think about the way that I approach them. Thankfully they always do what I ask, but I need to take more time to get their buy in so that they feel appreciated. I couldn't do any of this without them.
That will also set the example for them in dealing with the rest of the volunteers. Securing absolute trust takes more time than just giving an order, but ultimately it is worth the time, because you don't have to reestablish trust every time you ask someone to do something.
You referred to this vision as being mine, but on a deeper level I am sure you know that it is not my creation. I am thrilled to be along for the ride, but The Vision is that of the Universal Consciousness. It sort of reminds me of one of those Stephen King films where people from all over a ravaged planet start converging on one spot for survival. I sense that we are all converging on a spiritual consensus for our souls' benefit. Each one of us is bringing our special talents to the table so that we can share and learn from each other. There has never been a better time to be here. For the cats, Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
5/27/06 Our Spirit Guide page is very new and our Blog page has only been around for a couple of months, but they are coming up fairly high in our website for their age. About 20 people per day are logging into SpiritGuides and 27 per day are logging into the Blog where they can find your Heart Whispers. Both are coming up in the top 500 pages, and our site has 9000 pages altogether, so they are moving up quickly. I get free advertising from google, so if there are search words or phrases that you think we should target for your Heart Whispers, just let me know. For the cats, Carole Baskin, CEO of Big Cat Rescue
5/28/06 Dear Carole, Here is a very important article. It will supplement other information I will be sending you regarding the cosmic energies that are flooding the universe. It will help you to understand not only the physical symptoms you may have been experiencing, but help you to understand the losses we have suffered in recent times. I didn't tell you the other day when you sent your Mayan sun sign that you are the only other person I have personally met who is a Reed. As I said, Reed's are the spiritual leaders. No doubt, you know you have a spiritual mission that will help to change the healing of our planet and every living creature. Enjoy.

I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/
I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet.
