Chapter 12 marks the main turning point in Romans. Here, Paul starts to get more practical, focusing on living out or relationship with God largely through our interpersonal relationships.
Paul shows us how beautiful life can be as we walk in the Spirit, and also tells of the glorious future when sin and death are done away with in the New Creation.
Here Paul talks about the frustration of trying to be acceptable to God by through right behaviour. He ends with the joyful conclusion: "The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord!"
Paul continues his contrast of life/death, sin/righteousness, and calls us to dedicate our lives and bodies to the service of God.
Paul continues on the theme of the contrast between life and death, and uses it to show the magnificence of our salvation. Before you read, we suggest you watch a short video by the Bible project that give a very helpful overview of Romans 5-16.

As we begin our journey through the Psalms, an understanding of the book's structure as well as some important characteristics of poetry would be more than helpful. If we misinterpret the metaphorical writing, we can miss the entire point of these masterworks. But knowing some of the basics of Hebrew poetry can help us not only understand but also participate in these beautiful expressions of the human heart-cry.
With this in mind, we recommend you watch a video by The Bible Project that lays some of this out very clearly.
