How often do you incorporate strength training in your workout routine?
Many women believe that the only way to lose weight is to increase their cardiovascular activity. However, cardio alone isn’t the best way to lose weight and tone up.

Strength training is very important to incorporate in a workout routine because not only does it burn calories in the moment, but your body continues to burn calories for up to 48 hours after the strength training is done. When was the last time you failed?
To me, the words failure and success go hand in hand because without failure, we don’t have the opportunity to grow and learn from our mistakes to then fuel our success.
In today's episode, I talk about overcoming failure in life. Failure, by definition, means not being successful. However, ‘success’ means something different to each of us because we all have different goals and desires that we are measuring this success by. Most people view failure as a bad thing, but really failure re-routes our life to areas of success. Instead of feeling slowed down by failure, use it as a motivation to keep working towards your goals.

The US Presidential election has brought up many points of contention between voters of all parties in recent weeks, and my household has been no exception.
Our family has never traditionally spoken at lengths on politics as, generally, it hasn’t been a topic that’s been raised all too often. Though, as my children are becoming young adults and forming their own opinions on the issues that affect their country, disagreements are bound to happen. Most recently, a heated debate came up in my household between my children which challenged me both on a personal level and as a parent.
Hearing what they said to each other was painful, and whilst I’m so grateful that they have such passionate and strong points of view, it was only another reminder that our politics do not have to define us. I sincerely hope that this new administration brings a new era for peace, hope, and an end to the division that has tainted our nation for far too long.

In last week’s episode, I touched a little bit on some basic tips that we can do to help us through this holiday season, and one of the subjects I mentioned was how getting enough sleep can lead to a healthier lifestyle for us. And although we oftentimes tend to neglect it, adequate sleep allows our body to slow down and recharge for the following day, so it’s very important to start prioritizing our bedtime rest.
That’s why, in today’s episode, I wanted to dive a little deeper on the sleep topic and share some of the things our family does to ensure we all get a good night’s sleep – at least, as often as we can. You are going to hear the benefits sleep brings into your life, how much should you sleep based on your age, and some solutions Brian and I found to help our kids prioritize the sleep element in their lives.

It can be especially hard to prioritize our fitness during the holidays, with all of the added temptations that scrumptious foods and cocktails bring, so I do hope that these tips will help you to navigate your gatherings a little easier.
It’s also important to note that food should not be considered an obstacle around this period and there is no harm in giving yourself the space to indulge in a much-needed feast. However, I do want to offer my perspective on how I control my intake and manage my health during this time.

In commemoration of National Suicide Prevention Month, I wanted to take this episode as an opportunity to discuss mental health openly, and create a conversation between myself and my listeners. Mental illness affects such a large portion of our population and there is still a rampant stigma present on a global scale surrounding this topic. What are you willing to fight for?
We all have that one goal that drives us in life, the one image that pulls us through the hard days and reminds us time and time again of what it’s all for. But when was the last time you were really honest with yourself about what was important to you? On a superficial level, we all know the easy answer to that question, but what about the ones that make us sit in the discomfort?
It’s what we learn there that defines how we will approach life moving forward. Once we know what our true passion is, the willingness to succeed and show up will organically follow us wherever we go. In today’s episode, I’m going to be discussing what willingness means to me and how that word has impacted me throughout my life.
I also share my personal weight acceptance journey during each of my pregnancies and what it taught me about my own willingness level, as well as why being honest with ourselves and our intentions is so important.

Something that’s been heavy on my mind this week is the interest I’ve had surrounding ‘The 5 Love Languages’. Comprehending each of these languages has been incredibly beneficial, not only in my relationship with my Husband but with members of my family as well. In today’s episode, I thought I’d share a few of the books that I’ve read and revisited over the past few months! One of my absolute favourite genres is self help and personal development and there are a copious amount of titles within that area that have had a tremendous influence over the path I’ve gone down both professionally and personally.
An author whose catalogue of books I dive into today is Jon Gordan. His books have resonated with me so much and have had an effect throughout each stage of my life, making them so important for me to revisit as the years go on. There are always lessons that can be learned when re-examining the things that hold meaning to us and doing so can give us new perspectives that we didn’t have at the time.
I also discuss why I love audiobooks so much and how they have helped me integrate reading into different aspects of my daily practices, making them a more versatile and adaptable experience. Particularly as someone with a sometimes overwhelming schedule, they have been an absolute treat for me and my family.

Today, I’m joined by my daughter and an amazing, young and budding entrepreneur within the health and fitness industry, Camerin Inselman. I mentioned in last week’s episode that two of my children are currently in the process of moving out of home and she just happens to be one of the two! We recorded this episode in a hotel in Florida and chatted about what the process of moving out has been like for her, as well as why it was such an important life decision.
We dive into Camerin’s outlook on her independence and why pursuing her own path is such a vital quality to who she is, what lessons she’s gained from attending Tony Robbins’ seminars, and what made her realize the importance of surrounding herself with the right tribe of people.
We also chat about the role she is currently undertaking at ‘Juice Plus’ and discuss a few of the products they make and are in the process of developing. There is a vast amount of health and lifestyle benefits to so many of these supplements, as they are all plant-based, and we explore all of the ways in which they can have a positive effect on your overall health and wellbeing.

My family has recently gone through a huge transition. Two of my kids have taken a leap and made the incredibly brave decision to move out and start their own lives outside of our home. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions, not only from myself and my husband but from our other children as well.
There has been such a huge focus on my younger kids during all of this and it’s something I wasn’t entirely prepared for. I’ve had to learn how to adjust to their new routines and living situations, while giving them space to process how they’re feeling during a particularly overwhelming time. It’s new territory for all of us, and it’s so understandable that they would need to take the time to comprehend what’s going on in a healthy way.
In this episode, I discuss how our family dynamics have shifted and the effect it’s had on my younger children, the lessons I’ve taught my kids in relation to their own independence, and how all of this has impacted us in the wake of the pandemic.

This year has been filled with so many uncertainties and for many of us, we’ve neglected to take the time to focus on the things that have brought us joy. Our minds have been so consumed with the events that have taken place over the past six months and our own happiness has taken a backseat to so many of those things. Remembering to practice self-care is such a vital step in looking after our mental wellbeing and it’s unrealistic to believe we can keep carrying on with all of this stress weighing us down.
In today’s episode, I talk about the importance of celebrating the moments in life that bring us joy, why we should apply meaning to those things, and share a story of how my husband and I were encouraged to celebrate our twenty-third wedding anniversary and take some time for ourselves. I also give some advice on tools and techniques that I use which remind me to stay grateful and optimistic during tough times and the genuine benefits that they can have.

Today, I’m joined once again by my Husband, Brian Inselman! Brian is a qualified Physical Therapist, Fitness Coach and the Owner of our business, ‘Achieve Physical Fitness.’
In this episode, we dive into the topic of intermittent fasting and why it can be so genuinely beneficial to your overall health. There is a lot of debate surrounding fasting and whether or not it is a helpful technique in improving your health and nutrition. We discuss the various methods that can be used in conjunction with regular exercise and water intake to achieve the best results.
Everyone’s body is different, so make sure to use the methods that work best for you when approaching fasting and try to listen to what you best respond to. The science behind food intake and how our body breaks down fat is also an interesting component to the arguments supporting fasting, as it can have a lot of benefits to our blood sugars, insulin levels, and overall body functionality.
If you’re looking to get into the cycle of fasting yourself or are just curious to learn more, then tune in to Episode 11 of Six Pack!

Today, I wanted to sit with you and have a conversation about time. We rarely take a moment to check in with ourselves and reflect on how we could be better managing our days. Our society is so consumed with running errands and sticking to routines that we forget how important it is to assess the time we spend on those things and develop sound structures.
In this episode, I discuss ways you can efficiently save time, organizational tips for your home and workplace, as well as how my family’s household calendar is looking! As a big family, we’ve had to learn how to be respectful of each other's space and a big part of that has been co-operation. We’ve learned to be smarter with our time and adjust to each other’s needs along the way.

Today I’m joined by a very special guest, my father Jack Oholendt! He is a Certified Strengths and Conditioning Coach, Teacher, and Motivational Speaker and was kind enough to share some of the wisdom he’s gained throughout his life with myself and my listeners.
The values we learn early on in life are ones we tend to pass down when we eventually leave the nest and have children of our own. Empathy, kindness and personal development have always been a huge part of my life and have been something my parents actively taught me and my siblings growing up.
My father has an interesting perspective on family values as someone who grew up with a parent in the military and travelled a lot throughout his early years. In this episode, we get into the lessons that were instilled in my dad from his own parents, his advice for others who started a family at a young age, as well as what the transition to becoming a grandparent has been like.

Our family has just undergone our first camping trip together and with that came many pitfalls and teaching moments along the way. We get into the lessons we learned as first-time campers, how the trip brought us closer together during these difficult times, and share some funny stories that we experienced during our time away.
As the pandemic has become an everyday part of our lives, a camping trip was a no-brainer for us! With less and less things to do lately, it’s never been a more relevant time to get back to nature and connect with the outdoors.

Manifestation has been a part of my practice for years now. As a mother and business owner whose life can get pretty overwhelming at times, I’ve often had to remind myself of my own capabilities and inner strength. Our minds are powerful tools and when we learn how to tap into and utilize the best parts of ourselves, anything is possible.
In this episode, I share a few strategies I use in working towards my goals, how vision boards have helped me and my family stay motivated, and why using ‘I am’ statements are so important to the way we think about ourselves.
We all have so many bright and worthy ideas that are just waiting to be seen by the world and now is the time to put those goals in motion. Creating lifelong, positive habits will show us what we’re able to accomplish and will completely shift the way we think when approaching future desires. It’s also so important that we’re aware of our own worth and recognize that we are capable of achieving what we set out to do, just a few things that are possible through the power of manifesting!

Today I’m joined by my sister Shelby Herrington, a certified Strengths Coach who specializes in executive leadership and team coaching! Shelby was kind enough to give some insight into her career path journey and share her personal viewpoints on wellness in both life and business.
Our lives are moving at a strange pace at the moment, which means self-care has never been more important. In this episode, we discuss the effect quarantine has had on our family units, childhood ideologies we’ve had to challenge in our adult lives, and ‘Boxes for Boundaries’ theory, a three-step approach created by Shelby. She also delves into her transition going from the corporate world into the Life Coaching field and how that process came to be.
We also talk about the unique perspective we have as parents living through Covid-19 on opposite ends of the world. Shelby is based in the UK and talks about the outlook people over there have had towards the global pandemic in comparison to the US. We also touch on creative ways we’ve been keeping our kids engaged during lockdown and how we foster an open learning environment at home.
It’s vital that we give ourselves room to grow right now, particularly as parents and caretakers. Listening to ourselves and creating a balance is essential for a healthy mind, especially for our little ones who are processing this all at once. Though don’t feel selfish in prioritizing yourself and your own wellbeing, we’ve got to put our oxygen masks on before we can help those around us!
