Nicholas Yandell is a composer, who sometimes creates with words instead of sound. In those cases, he usually ends up with fiction and occasionally poetry. He also paints and draws, and often all these activities become combined, because they’re really not all that different from each other, and it’s all just art right?
When not working on creative projects, Nick works as a bookseller at Powell’s Books in Portland, Oregon, where he enjoys being surrounded by a wealth of knowledge, as well as working and interacting with creatively stimulating people. Kai Broach writes fiction and poetry. Their work has appeared in Jeopardy and Scribendi magazines, and they are the winner of the 2022 Western Regional Honors Council Award for Short Fiction. They grew up around Washington’s Puget Sound and currently live in Portland, Oregon, where they offer literary and bathroom advice to the customers of Powell’s Books.
Emily J. Schnipper (she/her) sells nature books to the people of Portland when she is not reading, writing, or acting as hype person for the California Condor. A graduate of the Independent Publishing Resource Center’s Portfolio Program in Poetry, she is currently working on a MFA at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Emily is the creator of the zine Adventures in Unemployment and has been published in Ghost Print, Minto Press, and Papeachu Review. David de Young recently completed an MFA with NYU’s low residency creative writing program in Paris. He’s the proprietor of a small independent publisher, Nordic Moon Press. He lives in Finland with his wife and three children.
At 17, Junix Seraphim started their first over-the-table work as a bookseller at Barnes & Noble in the mall. When that wasn't enough to pay their rent, bills, and put themselves through community college, they moved to Powell's where they also worked as a bookseller. Today, Junix is a poet, drag king, and grassroots organizer fighting for the rights and livelihoods of Filipinos in the homeland and in the belly of the beast, the U.S. Their love of goth culture and black lipstick is reflected in his drag performances, which range from campy character drag to macabre explorations of his personal relationship with death, and the relationships with death held by their communities. Junix and their friends are actively shaping the transsexual future.

Valerie Anne Burns is the author of Caution: Mermaid Crossing, Voyages of a Motherless Daughter. She previously worked in Hollywood as a story editor and in production, as well as, having her own business as a makeover specialist for home décor and wardrobe. Justin Ratcliff is a new emerging poet, who was cast into the depths of himself during the Covid-19 outbreak. Born, raised, and still preceding in South Central Alaska.
