In this insightful episode of The Intern Whisperer Podcast, Isabella chats with Enrico Marcellino, a seasoned leader in the healthcare and innovation sectors.

Enrico shares his multifaceted career journey, from his creative beginnings in film to his pivotal roles with Advent Health. Enrico is a key leader in process improvement and internal communications. His passion for strategic decision-making, creative problem solving, and empathy shines through as he discusses his personal growth and the influences that have shaped his leadership style.

Enrico delves into his belief in servant leadership, with Isabella sharing more about this leadership model from the teachings of Robert K. Greenleaf, a thought leader in Servant Leadership. He also highlights the importance of empathy, crediting his wife (shout out to her) for helping him grow into a more compassionate leader.

The conversation then shifts to the future, where Enrico explores the evolving landscape of healthcare and technology, particularly the role of AI, augmented reality, and virtual reality. He shares his vision of the healthcare industry in 2030, with a focus on improving patient experiences and empowering healthcare professionals. As the world accelerates toward a more tech-centric future, Enrico is optimistic about the potential of generative AI to revolutionize industries, but he also raises concerns about the ethical implications of these innovations. From discussing the future of work to offering mentoring advice, this episode is packed with valuable insights for anyone looking to understand the intersection of innovation, healthcare, and leadership.

Meet Rafael Caamano, a gentleman that I have known at events for years and finally had the opportunity to have a conversation with him about his life. I hope you enjoy meeting him as much as me. Sharing one of the stories from this episode with you.

When asked who are some of his favorite thought leaders. His reply was different from others. He shared a story about the quality time he spent with each of his grandfathers. Both of his grandfathers were very different from one another. One was a community leader and the other was a businessman with no educational background. Both were veterans. The grandfather that was a community leader spent his time on the corner with his friends. He came to realize that each of them brought something significant to his life about building relationships and brought something to the table.

Another highlight Rafael shared is that as most growing teenage boys, he loved food and wanted to help provide for his family when they moved from Puerto Rico to Florida. He started shining shoes to buy empanadas. He also loved grapes and asked to volunteer and put pricing labels on cans in the grocery store in exchange for grapes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to interview Safia Porter and hope you do also. She is warm, caring, and visionary.

She actually selected the same word to describe herself. Safia shared a story from her childhood about her love for the performing arts & music. She believes it helps to awaken our imagination and we should all lean into our inner child. I totally agree with her and have experienced a direct relationship with music and how it impacts my emotions. What about you?

Her life is spent on making a positive impact in the world. She is part of an organization called Easy Water for Everyone. Here is a sobering question - Think about drinking water that is brown?

That should make you pause for a moment. There are 663 million people in the world that lack access to clean water. Easy Water for Everyone delivers clean pure water to remote villages with contaminated water sources. They use simple sustainable technology that does not require electricity and is validated by research. This makes the water safe to consume.

There are now 35 village sites with these water filtration devices in developing countries to provide clean drinking water to the villagers.

Do you want to make an impact? You can, Safia shared that there will be a Water & Health conference in October 2024 at University of North Carolina. The theme is “Imagine a Day Without Water.” https://www.easywaterforeveryone.org/

Lastly, one of my favorite questions is what is the best mentoring advice she would like to share. She took us back to advice her father gave her. “Keep going no matter what life gives you.” Like Dory - just keep swimming.

Denise Musselwhite is the founder of Tech and Thrive. She is a dynamic person that is memorable. We have been connected through a number of Women’s groups that focus on technology. One of the words she shared to describe herself is Deliberate, and the definition of this word means to carefully think or talk something through. Slow and measured, the pace of this kind of careful decision making. As the daughter of immigrants to the US she learned to move through life with a heavy focus on her serving her clients. She believes this is essential for success for her clients as well as her own business.

She grew up in an entrepreneurial family that focused on service. She helped her family by translating technical writing into Spanish for her parents.

When thinking through what she wanted her career to be, she knew it would be in technology. She was the first gen in her family to attend college and started with Valencia College when it was a 2-year college.

As a woman in technology and working her way to become a Chief Information Officer, she represents less than 2% of the workforce as a latina woman in the tech world. She started her own business because she grew up watching her family be entrepreneurs. She went back to get her masters degree when she turned 45 and focused her master’s thesis on the barriers that hold women back in their careers. Before COVID, she discovered that stem careers focused more on men rather than women. Women are still not represented in technology leadership roles. Only 26% are leaders in the tech world. Less than 3% Latinas make it to the top of the tech leadership.

When asked what is the best mentoring advice you want to share with our listeners? Her response was that in order for you to accelerate your own growth and development you have to understand who you are and decide who you are. If you allow someone to decide who you are for you. One needs to understand what you need and a strategy with a plan of action to move towards your strengths

Andres Goyanes is a personal coach on a mission to help people become their best version of themselves. Andres spent a lot of time thinking about his purpose in life. As he looked forward , he also looked backwards and thought about how he helped people.

Some really great wisdom nuggets that came out of the show are:

  • Celebrate successes and learn from failures.
  • Communication is one of the best ways to grow.
  • Advice his dad said when he was growing up. When you own your business, you drop your plate to take care of business. That is the responsibility of every entrepreneur.

Future of Work opportunity for anyone thinking about going into life coaching. The market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 4.85% from 2023 to 2030 to reach USD $2.1 billion by 2030. What does this mean for you? Consider this your side business. As the world continues to work, play, and connect remotely - it will be important to have a coach to help stay balanced.

I have known Michael Weiss for quite some time through his day job with UCF Incubator as a manager over two incubator sites. What I didn’t know is that he is an entrepreneur, graduated with hospitality as his field of study, and that he has quite a bit of knowledge and experience in the sports industry. When I asked him what his five words are that defined him, he shared that he likes to have fun. One of the short stories he shared was about a new minor league basketball team that he had a job with. He had the opportunity to come up with slogans and his idea was selected. The team was the Pitbulls, and the slogan that was a “slam dunk” (pun intended) was "Meet the Pitbulls unleashed".

Michael is interesting because he works every day with startup founders and is a wealth of knowledge and demonstrates his desire to help others achieve greatness. His startup is Room Rite and he decided to launch when he identified a problem when planning a family reunion. He noticed there were very few hotels that offered affordable room rates. The hotels were overpriced and had little inventory. Michael wondered how often hotels have rooms that are not picked up during conferences. Taking you to the end of this first chapter of his startup journey. He won 4th place at the Rollins College Venture Competition and received an equity free $5,000 prize.

Please tune in to hear his interview and learn more about what he thinks the hospitality industry will look like in 2030.

Emily Walker is a vibrant woman that believes that using color in your wardrobe says a lot about your personal and business brand. For those that can see her picture on the thumbnail or in our social feeds you will better understand what I mean by that.

I kicked off the show by asking my guests to describe themself using 5 words. Two of these words she selected were the epitome of her essence. Because she was raised in a challenging home situation, resilience is an important word that she believed saved her from being a negative statistic. As a single parent that lived in Section 8 Housing she had to overcome challenges in life. School was a safe place because of the learning opportunities and establishing friendships. The second she selected was determined. Her belief is that this ties to resilience because she was able to overcome obstacles in her life. She gives more details in the interview and we invite you to hear more about her personal story there.

Emily is launching a new workshop called the Five Pillars of Personal Branding as part of her signature workshops. Be sure to listen and reach out to her to learn more.

Rey Ortega is an incredibly smart, well-read, and self-taught programming engineer that is driven to help others reach their goals and potential. His mentoring advice to others is “Make sure you do a deep dive and become a problem solver. Apply this in everything you want to learn. If you don’t know your stuff, people will know you don’t know what you are doing.” Wise words, right?

We talked quite a bit about AI and how it can be used with impact both positively and negatively.
From a technical perspective, what worries him about 2030 is that a lot of technology will take over things that people used to do. People will feel disenfranchised and left behind. Humans are important, it is bothersome low code, no code solutions, someone has to own the data and it may not be you the owner of an idea. Listeners, dive into this episode and you won’t be disappointed. Reach out to Rey on Linkedin to hire his company, have him speak about AI in the Future, or have a cup of coffee with him. He is the real deal.

As a previous TEDx Orlando organizer and leader, I am asked a lot about how to land a TEDx speaking opportunity. I thought it best to bring an expert that can share that knowledge with us. I know Adam Lewis Walker from one of my favorite events - Podfest. He has been exhibiting and speaking at that event for years. Adam helps authors, coaches, consultants, and speakers become the thought leader in their niche via his TalkXcelerator method to land and deliver TEDx talks that amplify impact and authority.

In this episode you will learn more about the TEDx process and some inside tips about landing a talk. His 5 words that describe are interesting. 1) Relentlessness, 2) Kaizen is a Japanese term meaning change for the better or continuous improvement, 3) Pole vaulter shooting for the Olympics, 4) Family, 5) Legacy .The Kaizen concept is an interesting term that makes one pause and realize the value of continuous improvement and a definite ice breaker conversation starter.

His book, entitled “Awaken Your Alpha,'' focuses on awareness, action, and ascension. You can find his book on Amazon. There is a press release about to publish a list of thought leaders Marquis Whos Who in America and Adam was thrilled to be recognized and receive an award.

His best mentoring advice came from his book. Ikigai is a Japanese concept referring to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. Similar to a venn diagram, this diagram shows ikigai as the convergence of four areas of life: what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. The very center, where each area overlaps, is your ikigai – your reason for getting up and where you should focus your efforts to find ultimate fulfillment.

I was in a car accident back in November 2023 and had to seek medical treatment for whiplash. I was referred to Pavlik Center for Health and Wellness and met Dr. Jae and also Dr. Dan Jr. (most of the docs go by Dr. and their first name).

Dr. Dan is an expert in his field of chiropractic care. His 5 words that describe him are “Laid Back, Born to Heal.” On this episode we talked about the use of laser and light therapy, maybe x-ray vision that allows a person to be scanned with x-ray glasses rather than an MRI or X-Ray machine. He also shared the most common misconceptions about chiropractic care and dispels those fears with truth.

Tune in to hear more about his thoughts of what Healthy Care looks like now and what treatment might look like in 2030. His thought leader is his father, Dr. Dan Pavlik, Sr., who founded Pavlik Center who encouraged him during his career journey to Think Outside the Box and helped him develop a mindset of providing the best care possible to his patients.

I met Michelle Moore at a Women in Tech & Entrepreneurship networking event in 2023. She shared a story about how she came from Canada and was looking for a group that helped women in tech become more confident in their knowledge. She is a natural storyteller and listeners you won’t be disappointed. Tune in to hear her story how she initially wanted to be a spy, why she changed her mind, switched her career path, and embraced cultural diversity.

One of her favorite authors, Arwana Hayashi (The Art of a True Move) shared "The body is our primary way of knowing and being in the world. Through the body, we can access deeper levels of awareness and insight. Michelle mentioned Cal Newport’s book, Slow Productivity as a reminder to slow down and engage in the world rather than the speed of technology. This is definitely a book I will order.

When musing on what 2030 will be like, Michelle dropped a thought bomb on us. There will be a big desire to be device free because of the advancement and pace that technology is moving. There will be a demand for device free experiences. This will impact the job market to free people of the false sense of the dopamine pleasure and mindless scrolling that happens now. We need to be reminded that technology is designed to pull us away from others. In person experiences will be in demand.

Michelle’s mentoring advice to my listeners is “Learn to listen to your gut; tap into your instincts and intelligence, or your Higher Power. Trust that voice that tells you truth.

I met Diana Teel at the Central Florida Tech Grove when they hosted Indienomicon’s Armed Forces Game Jam. She is smart, personable, and someone you want to have on your side. Why? Because she is all five of these words that she shared that describe her.

  1. Tenacious -both of her parents were marines and she learned as a young child not to give up, especially if the answer was no - it would likely turn into a yes later.
  2. Passionate - she cares about others and the work she does.
  3. Curious - so much going on in the world and she realizes she asks “why,” similar to how a child questions to understand.
  4. Connector - Diana loves connecting people to others that creates opportunities to get energy flowing that makes magic happen.
  5. Holistic - Diana is a breast cancer survivor and that changed her perspective on life. She chose to look at her life and improve in all areas. Nutrition, faith, physical movement, being supportive of others and allowing herself to be supported.

Diana is a driven technologist that wears multiple hats. Let’s count them

  1. Director of the NavalX Central Florida Tech Bridge,
  2. Outreach Director/Chief Evangelist with the Naval Air Warfare Center

What do you think of when you hear economist? If you are thinking dry, boring, or not funny - then you absolutely should tune in and hear Dr. Sean Snaith shared his forecast for 2024 and 2030. I have been a fan of Dr. Snaith (and he is okay with calling him Sean) for over 10 years. I get the forecasts that are put out by UCF Institute of Economic Forecasting of which he is the director. I asked him what he forecasts for 2024? The world is still working on getting out of the COVID 19 disruption. The economy will slow down and consumers in the US have faced a decline in what money can purchase in previous years before COVID. Labor market is strong right now as consumers are using credit cards. This overall impact on the economy is spending will impact individuals and families if they continue to use credit cards to pay their bills. Checks and balances folks, think how we as humans have unlimited wants vs. limited needs. Decisions have to be made and if resources are scarce. Best mentoring advice shared - It is impossible to know the future. The future is not your final step. There is an opportunity cost with every choice. You have no idea where your future will take you. You can do any job for a period of time as long as you know that it is not forever.

Today’s guest is a legend in the world of podcasts. His name is Dave Jackson and he describes himself using these five words: “I love to help people.” He is the Director of Education with Libsyn and the founder of the School of Podcasting, his own business, podcast and a published author. Dave definitely has a servant heart, he shared that as a child he grew up understanding how his mom (his superhero) could make the meals and home feel provided for. His dad was a truck driver and on the road a lot. He missed him at the 3-legged race and wanted to help others feel included as he watched other children run a race with their dads. This desire to help others feel important, seen and heard is what led him to start his own business His take on what 2030 might look like is that he is very worried how people will have dialogue with one another when we have become so accustomed to a digital world behind a screen. He believes that human skills will be at a prime demand because technology is advancing so quickly. Dave stated that he believes that AI should be called Assisted intelligence, not artificial intelligence We hope you enjoy this week's episode of The Intern Whisperer. I met Matthew Hogan at the 2023 IITSEC annual conference. He is the founder and CEO of M3D Technologies. He is a service-disabled #Navy veteran who studied Studio Production and Visual Effects at Full Sail University and The DAVE School in Orlando. Matthew founded and operated several small businesses after leaving the Naval service, and has successfully completed projects for Orlando-area theme parks and the University of Central Florida.

Matthew is an expert in haptic gloves and the ability to feel the virtual world. Taking hardware solutions and programming this equipment so humans can experience something that can be dangerous but in a safe environment. Another example includes rocket launchers that allow regular people to blow something up in a virtual environment. He believes if people don’t work to understand these new technologies they will be left behind.

Tune in to hear more about the DoomsDay Clock that is set to 90 seconds to midnight. As humans, we live in an unprecedented level of danger.

I have known Chris Harden through the startup ecosystem in Orlando, Florida. For us in this world, he is a bit of a legend because he appeared on Shark Tank. Tim Lesnick inspires with his take on what 2030 holds for us, who is Omar Atlas, and the value of philanthropy. Giving a shout out to Alec Jones - thanks Alec - that he would introduce me to Tim Lesnick who is the co-owner of Trova Search, a nation-wide recruiting and consulting firm. I now understand why since he has over 20 years in the staffing and consulting industry and placed nearly 4,000 professionals on a contract or full-time basis career path.  Tim believes and exemplifies a tenant mindset, called "Read my mind better" which translates to “Great service means mastering the art of anticipation.” I think this would be a great title for a book.  According to research by researchers at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), the University of Bamberg, and The Ohio State University objective was to find out whether consciously deciding to have a certain posture can influence a person’s confidence, behavior, and hormone levels. Remember the pose that #Superman or #WonderWoman do?  Hands on your hips, feet spread slightly apart, with shoulders back and chest out Tim is a really fun guy and when challenged to join in on power posing he shared another person that had a great power pose, Omar Atlas. Omar was a wrestler that also captured his audience’s attention and favor with his power poses. Be sure to check out Tim channeling Omar Atlas’ power pose for a laugh. Tim’s thoughts? The pose seems awkward except for when doing this with his kids. No judgments, just fun.  Tim’s mentoring advice is spot on because it is a challenge for all of us.  1) Be willing to dig ditches because a lot of people try to take short cuts. 2) People need experience and don’t know enough about business and put together what they learn in school and it hasn’t been built on experience. And 3) Give value to more than yourself by giving to others - volunteer and give back through philanthropy work.We hope you enjoy this week's episode of The Intern Whisperer. Sean Pinnock, the CEO of Avalon, which is a human centric game studio, was my guest on The Intern Whisperer. When he was a child, he envisioned the future of games. His inspiration came from Ready Player One - which is a book by Ernest Cline that later became a movie. This shaped his thinking of what the world - Meta - could be as a VR experience.

When sharing his mentoring advice, he reminds us to learn and be content with who you are today; the second piece of advice is to be determined. Determination will take you further in your life journey.

S6 Ep. 283 Kristin Chase Kristin Chase - Keeping balance between humans and demand for efficiency.Kristin Chase is the Intern Whisperer first guest for 2024. She is an amazing organizational development expert that I have known for a while. She is the Sr. Director of the Organizational Development (OD) department for Universal Destinations & Experiences. One of the co-founders of the Greater Orlando Organizational Development Network a/k/a The GOOD Network and has a wealth of experience in every area of OD in the workplace.  When asked what 2030 will look like she shared, “There will be a focus on efficiency and optimal use of labor. There is not as much labor available that are able, willing or want to fill jobs that need  to be filled.  There will be some effort that we need to have deeper interactions with people and where can we use a robot. If it is a systematic way should automation be the solution. This is where OD comes in, what is the work that needs to be done. The idea of reskilling is where OD supports how and where people can fit in. What do we do with this new information about people's work in the future? People need to remember that personal connection is primary and what we change is the way we work as in efficiency of repetitive tasks that need to scale. Tune in to this 2024 episode to learn more about Kristin Chase and what work may look like as we move forward to 2030.  Hashtags: #iHeartRadio #ApplePodcasts #GooglePlay #Spotify #Stitcher #Podbean #YouTube #Employers4Change #E4C #internships #radio #podcast #innovation #employers #smallbusiness #business #FutureOfWork #ValenciaCollegeRadio

S6 Ep. 279 - A peek into Anna Nadeina’s story of resilience and love for tech

Tune in for a podcast that transcends boundaries, celebrates resilience, and embraces the profound impact of love. I met Anna in 2022 through @Prepare 4 VC where she was working for a different company at the time. Fast forward a year later to 2023 and she is a nomad that many will say has an idyllic life.

She originated from Russia/Ukraine, and embraced diversity when leaving home at 16 years to attend a boarding school. This was a liberating experience that nurtured her independence. With an insatiable love for books, she continued her education in Finland and China; earning two marketing diplomas from universities in different countries.

Her career unfolded across borders—from her first marketing job with a powerhouse firm in China to co-founding a brand of lactation cookies in Malaysia and Singapore. Along the way, she pivoted into the culinary world, faced challenges in the male-dominated kitchen, and navigated the corporate landscape in Vietnam.

Her story is a tapestry of joys and challenges of working remotely in 9 different countries, Anna’s take on AI, and the struggles to find female founders of SaaS companies that can squeeze in time to share their startup stories when selling their company.

Luis Garcia - The Journey Story of a Learning Technologist

Kicking off this episode with Luis Garcia by sharing a memorable quote by Jim Barksdale. "If we have data, let's look at data. If all we have are opinions, let's go with mine.” How true is that? Our lives are now measured consistently by data. How many clicks, impressions, shares, comments, open rate, and more. What does the data reveal about human behavior? People also have opinions and those matter because they reflect so much insight. Different ways of thinking, knowledge, experience, wisdom, problems and solutions.

Luis kicked off the show by sharing that his love of learning started at an early age. He began learning how to program when he was 7 years old. His parents wanted him to focus on that as a career path.

As he got older he discovered his real passion for music - FYI, he plays the guitar and keyboard. He and his twin brother came to the US with his parents visiting colleges with a focus on computer programming. The family visited top tier Ivey League schools and decided to visit Orlando on the way back. That is when Luis and his brother toured Full Sail.

Now another twist in the career roller coaster happened. FS launched a new degree in digital media. This was a combination of music, graphics with a dash of virtual reality technology.

To hear more about Luis career story, thoughts about 2030 and AI, listen to the WHOLE show. This one is an exciting story.

This week’s guest is Raechel Canipe, and I could tell it was kicking off with a bang. From the five words that describe her and our discussion on how the word “relentless” is a positive word and speaks to a person’s passion to grow an idea to an empire.

We moved to how rapidly technology moves; Raechel’s comparison of how technology advancement is similar to compounding interest was intriguing - lightning fast. Her predictions about how education can help individuals upskill more quickly honed in the value of micro credentials which could possibly outpace traditional educational pipelines. This led to the the need to democratize the workforce.

John Cunningham is a source of knowledge, wisdom, and positivity. With 30 years of experience that includes working with enterprise businesses that has benefited the small startup indie game studio; John is the epitome of a mentor that everyone wants to have. As a matter of fact, his parting mentoring advice is to “Find mentors and don’t be shy to ask for their wisdom and experience.”

John recently shifted his expertise to growing The VRAR Association and recognized he wanted to learn more about space initiatives. His quest for knowledge prompted him to sign up with Global Space Academy to be part of a new effort to help the U.S. achieve superior national space power, by shaping a Space Force that provides credible deterrence in competition, dominant capability in combat, and professional services for all partners.

He reminded us that AR technology is already embedded in our smart phones and with the flick of an app download you can experience an Augmented Reality experience through your phone. Tune in to learn more about John’s vast experience and why we should always stay curious.

How Failure Leads Us Closer To Success.

This week’s episode is about Jon Borgwing, an Army veteran who shares that it is important to recognize opportunity and take advantage of it when it presents itself. Why? Because you can help people, create impact, and change the world.

This week’s episode was fascinating. We discussed how the use of AR, VR, and immersive technologies will be used to accelerate cognitive and educational learning opportunities.

Jon’s outlook on failure is positive and upbeat and truly one of the best ways to learn. Failure is based on science and in the world of science, what some see failure as negative it is acceptable and gets us closer to success. We need to embrace how failure can and will be one of our best ways to be a more open way to accelerating learning. Tune in to learn more about the role an instructional designer plays in everyday learning to make it experiential.

It is funny how a person can be in our circle of influence and yet we have not met. Kind of like two planes that fly over and past one another is the analogy. I knew Christa Santos before I met her through StarterStudio (previously Canvs) a startup accelerator program. As a marketing consultant, she helped with promotions and launch marketing for the organization. I actually met her in person a year later. In this episode, I learned even more about her. We talked about the future of the marketing industry and then moved to how Elon Musk is working on a product called neuralink which is a brain-chip implant startup to help individuals suffering from paralysis restore autonomy in their lives. I met Pam McGee at an ATD conference last year and was amazed at her confidence, and depth of knowledge in HR. I knew she was someone that should be a guest on The Intern Whisperer. A little about her background, she served in the Air Force and joined when she was 17 years old and served for 6 years. Impressive, right?

She led the conversation with Lead without influence. Those are three powerful words. Think about that for a minute and how to do that in your life. Pam is a go-getter and after leaving the Air Force, went to school and worked full time while being a young mom. From there her career journey included working for big companies such as Home Depot for 8 years, Ross Stores, and then moving to Valencia College. She holds SHRM certifications in (PHR)/SHRM-CP.

Her thoughts about what 2030 holds for us are built around AI, robots, and what remote work will look like as we continue to move closer to that not too far off date. Tune in to this episode and learn more about Pamela and reach out to connect with her on LinkedIn.

When I first met Lauren Prager at a Synapse Florida event, I was impressed with her positivity, it was infectious in all the right ways. As I got to know her better I learned more about the organization and how well connected she is to so many resources that everyone in innovation or technology will want to tap into.  I have several favorite parts that I believe my listeners will find valuable to hear. Lauren’s mentoring advice is the first nugget, the second is her mantra that she lives her life by, and the third is how we should engage with ethical use of AI.  I hope you enjoy the show; please leave us a comment, share the episode and tag a friend to help us grow our fanbase.

Today’s guest, Roger Hunt, founder of Idea Trek, Inno Ethics, Hoover Dao is interesting because he kicks off the episode strong with his five words that describe him: Open, Trusting, Cantankerous, Intense, and Governed. That last word Governed, stands out.

We discussed how none of us want to be defined by how a person sees us at that one moment in time. Roger is an author and also shares about his new book that will drop at the end of September.

The book is titled, Innovation Ethics, Reframing the Investor Thesis by Roger Hunt and he shares insight as to Destruction Theory and how founders seem to fall under collateral damage.

My words, not his. Please leave us a comment as we always appreciate when you share what you liked about the episode and reach out to our guests.

Kamaria Scott - A People Leader Crafting Ideal Strategies for the Future of Work

I met Kamaria Scott at The Good Network - which stands for Greater Orlando Organizational

Development Network which is an organizational development [OD] professional association.

OD is a science-backed effort focusing on the study and implementation of practices, systems, and techniques that affect organizational change. The goal is to modify a group's/organization's performance and/or culture for best outcomes for the organization and its people.

In this episode, you will learn more about how Kamaria chose this career path through blended degrees in IO psychology and Human Resource Development. She shared how her educational degrees helped her develop a curious and problem-solving mindset that taught her ‘What to think about humans’ and ‘How to build learning.’ Kamaria’s example: “You either want people to start doing something they are not doing or stop doing something you don’t want them to do.”

Tune in to hear more about what she thinks 2030 will look like, the five words that describe her, and her mentoring advice

Her outlook on life is about being blessed with opportunities that have opened doors in the STEM, STEAM and tech industries that women dream of having.  She shared the hardest lesson that she learned that changed your life is that a person’s fears and insecurities are not my fault. Insightful for all of us to remember so that we don’t carry baggage into our own lives and others around us.  As we moved into the future of 2030 discussion, she shared that she saw the military using robotic dogs to guard the perimeter of a base. Shades of Black Mirror.  Tune in to hear more from Carol Ann about ethical dilemmas moving into the future of 2030 and more about pearls of wisdom that were dropped throughout the show.

I originally met Juan when participating at OMG Labs and Indienomicon #GameJams. I am so happy to have this opportunity to get to know him on a more candid level. Three big takeaways I want to share with our listening audience were:

  1. He had an idea to create a tablet device like the iPad before it was invented to share comics.
  2. When asked about the ethical dilemmas about the future he shared he believes it would be the ability to interact with other humans would be traded for the convenience to work  remotely, live a digital lifestyle, and isolate people more from one another.
  3. Best mentoring advice Juan shared with our listeners. Just Do It.

Patti Brownsord is today’s Intern Whisperer guest. What do you think of when you hear the career path - Data Analytics. Something that sounds uninspiring or dry? Patti is nothing like that at all. She is funny, quirky, and smart (Three of her five words by the way).

I met Patti at a networking event and overheard her mention that she is the Chair of the UCF Data Analytics Advisory Board. I asked her “Where can I sign up to join?” Data analytics are some of the top trending career paths of the future and I was so happy to see a woman in this field.

What was even better, is that Patti is really funny. Tune into the show to learn how she got started in data analytics before it was a thing.

I also loved the quote she shared that gives her inspiration. “I am still learning.” On the show, we thought this was passed on by Michaelangelo. Turns out it was originally penned by Seneca's 76th Letter to Lucilius published in 65 AD. Shout out and thank you to our Source: ME Carsley. We know that learning is both difficult and wonderful. And the discomfort that comes from learning is less welcome as we age. Yet life's experiences teach us that to stop learning is to stop creating. It is fitting too that this quote is associated with Michelangelo. We hope you enjoy this week's episode of The Intern Whisperer.

Wendy Austin went from being a theater major to a woman of #STEM. Why is this significant?

Because she had no background in math, engineering, or knowledge of robots initially. The funny thing is about working with kids from 4 to 18 years old and building robots is they teach the best lessons in life about:

  1. Failure,
  2. Letting go, and
  3. Exploding bacon.

Wendy is also funny as all get out (Southern expression).
