Success is less about fleeting motivation and more about unwavering discipline. In this podcast episode of Fit in 42 Ryann and I have talked about 5 tips that can help you become disciplined in your life.
Discipline is the key to long-term success, while motivation is often fleeting. Motivation can be a powerful initial force that propels us towards our goals, but it tends to ebb and flow with time. In contrast, discipline is the consistent commitment to a plan or a set of habits, regardless of whether motivation is present.
Successful individuals understand that relying solely on motivation is unreliable, and they prioritize discipline as the driving force behind their accomplishments. So, while motivation may spark the journey, it's discipline that sustains it and ultimately paves the way for lasting success. Tune in to this episode of Fit in 42 to know more!

Engaging in a consistent gym routine that includes lifting weights can bring about remarkable benefits for both physical and mental well-being. Strength training not only helps in building muscle mass and boosting metabolism but also enhances bone density and overall functional fitness.
Complementing such workouts with a balanced diet is crucial. A diet rich in lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and essential nutrients provides the necessary fuel for muscle recovery and growth. We've been abused for a few years. Gym people were mostly ridiculed, especially during the height of covid. Some people considered us as the "super spreaders". But are we?
A recent article just came out, and I know I have to get the word out.
So, after all the restrictions (especially to gym facilities) and covid guidelines that took a toll on people’s physical and mental health, I came across something that should have been shared earlier. And I don't want to say, "I told you so.", but I thought everyone should need to hear this.
The Washington Post article says that those who exercise die less from covid. And between those who don't exercise and who exercise at least 150 minutes per week, the former group was 391% more likely to die after developing covid.
Where was this the last two years when there were just rules - rules that were crushing us, gym people, from all angles?
Tune in now and listen to what Ryann and I have to say about this recent study and some key takeaways on exercising.
Let's get started!
"If you take away the ability to exercise for someone, I guess they're gonna wish they were able to exercise if they could have prevented something." - Gerry Washack
"Taking care of yourself is preventative work. That's the frontline defense against disease, illness, and mental issues. Don't wait for the Black Plague to come to start caring for yourself like most people did" - Ryann McMillon
"Disease and illness are all linked to nutrition and how you care for yourself. So do the work NOW." - Ryann McMillon

How well do you know yourself? Who do you visualize yourself to be? Are you showing up as your best self yet?
We actually have two versions of ourselves - the anti-self and the ultimate self.
The anti-self is the root cause to all of our problems - depression, anxiety, anger, mood swings, etc. And the ultimate self is the highest version of ourselves or the person we all want to be.
In this week's episode, Ryann shares a step-by-step guide on tapping into that ultimate self and having it as your dominating self.
Once you master this exercise, you'd be surprised how it can really change the way you view and live your life.
Remember, you are what you feed yourself every day. So, choose to feed your ultimate self every single day.
"It's a struggle to watch people die while they're alive instead of living while they're here." - Ryann McMillon
"Do everything in your power every day to feed the wolf of ultimate self." - Ryann McMillon

We have so much more in common with our favorite superheroes than we realize. Let’s discuss.
We all have our heads down trying to make strides in different areas of our lives. Sometimes we take our eye off the ball and start looking around. Then we start judging our successes based upon other people’s successes. That’s when trouble starts.
The beautiful thing about the term “fit” is it can mean different things to different people.
Many of us didn’t have the best role models growing up. We know this but many times we repeat the same patterns our parents did. Well it’s time to put an end to that. It’s time to unleash.
Bad people, natural disasters, life, so many unexpected things can be thrown your way. Are you prepared?
Who you are is not an absolute. You can change, you can evolve but it starts with how you think.
I was driving listening to a podcast when I heard them mention this saying in passing. It was so profound I stopped the car and had to dive deeper into this concept.
Do you have strong opinions on subjects but hold your tongue? Do you walk away from situations with a knot in your stomach because you didn’t speak up, or act? Please listen to this podcast if you e ever found yourself in these sorts of situations.
This is one of my favorite topics, business strategy. I’m blessed that my children seem to have inherited the entrepreneurial gene and have taken an interest in business. In this podcast I talk about some of the business foundations I try to get across to my children.
In this podcast I challenge the idea of family. Is it by name? Is it by birth? Can your family be made of of people you didn’t know until later in life?
One of the most profound things I ever heard came from the mouth of a pet shop owner who was helping us with our turtle named Bob.
Over the course of the last couple months I’ve been getting questions on all sorts of topics. In this episode I answer 3 of them.
If I had a dime for every time someone told me they were going to start running to lose weight, I’d own a small island by now. The problem is, they won’t lose weight, they won’t hit their goals and I’ll tell you why.
In this podcast I discuss why it’s important to keep score in all aspects of your life.
So many people hear or see others doing amazing things and immediately their head goes to all the bad things that could happen. Well it’s time to take off the bubble wrap and start living.
Awhile ago Gerry told the story of why he now takes the stairs whenever he can. The more I thought about it the more I loved this concept. This is now something we preach inside our gyms.
I’ve heard about minimalism and wasn’t sold in it until I did more research. Now I’m all in. Here’s my journey
Why do people associate shame with the way they eat? What is shame? How do we overcome this feeling? Let’s discuss.?
In this episode I give you examples of how many of the food companies out there are playing on our emotions.
A Coach does so much more than count reps and teach exercises. I want to shed light on what you can expect when you hire a GOOD Coach.
In order to take your life to the next level you need to make some hard decisions. Here are some of mine....
In this episode we go over some strategies to start getting the family healthier, but it all starts with you being the bad guy.
One of my favorite quotes “you don’t stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing.” Just one of the many profound conversations i have with my daughter.
There’s a dark side to coaching that no one really talks about but it leads to some of the best experiences
Many times we dont make the correlation between how we feel and what we eat. So let’s discuss....
There’s one key ingredient to getting past the discomfort of starting a new activity or trying to achieve and new goal.
