If you are wondering if your past, your imperfections, or life’s obstacles have the ability to diminish your purpose, you’ve come to the right place. Join me each week for overcoming stories from brave women, real talk, life-changing truths, and actionable takeaways. You will leave each episode with the tools to help you overcome what has been holding you back so you can courageously and authentically become who you were always meant to be.
Fear is a little tricky emotion. It can hinder us. It can paralyze us. It can keep us from being all of who God has called us to be. It can convince us that shrinking is being humble. For the longest, I hoped that I would get to a place in my life where I would never have to confront or struggle with fear ever again.
But is it possible that a small dose of fear could actually be a good thing? In this episode I am challenging us to rethink what we have learned about fear, how it can actually be beneficial to us, and what I do when fear comes knocking on my door.
Season 5 is a wrap!!! The OTB podcast is going on break. I will be using this time to work on some exciting new projects ahead that I cannot wait to share with you.

If it seems like good motives and wrong motives get us to the same place then why is it important for us to examine our motives?
In this episode, I am diving into a topic that can be a bit tangly: our motives and why they matter. There was a season in my life where I was driven by ambition, busy over-achieving, and had an insatiable desire to prove my worth. Yes, I was accomplishing goals but my "why" almost caused me to lose what mattered most. I learned that wrong motives can get us to a place but they will not sustain us.
In this episode, I share the importance of examining our hidden motives, how they will eventually come to the surface, and what we can do to ensure that we are driven by the right motives.

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you want to lose weight, create an exercise routine, eat healthy foods? What is your true motive behind all of it? Have you tied your desire to "be fit" or "get healthy" to your worth? These questions and more are what Megan Snyder and I chat about in this episode. Megan shares how she became so driven to "get fit" that it became her idol. When life happened and she was unable to keep her routines and tight schedule, she unraveled. It was through this unraveling process that God revealed the true condition of her heart which prompted her to begin re-examining her motives and turn back to him.
About Megan Snyder:
As my relationship with the Lord has grown closer and deeper, I truly want nothing more than to serve Him well and lead others to know Him. Whether it’s writing, speaking, or just day-to-day living, my heart is in pursuit of building God’s Kingdom. Jesus, family, and service. That is my heartbeat.

In part one of this series, we talked about how our heart is like a trunk. From childhood to the present day, we add pieces to our trunk through life experiences. If we don’t deal with those issues-- the trunk becomes more and more full. And just like a physical trunk or container--- there is limited space. We can try to close the lid and pretend that nothing is in there but eventually what’s in there is going to come out. What are the signs of a full trunk? What lies have we been led to believe that have kept our trunks full? We are tackling these questions and more in Part 2 of the Inside Out series.

I was the master of making sure my outside appeared a certain way so no one would know what was really going on inside of me. I had checked off the boxes, accomplished seemingly impossible goals, climbed the success ladder, married the guy of my dreams, and I was an associate pastor in my home church. It wasn't until I almost lost it all that I realized that I had to stop, pivot, and start dealing with this one thing that I had ignored for far too long.

In this episode, I chat with Yolanda Kennedy- a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. If you're like me and you struggle with asking for help, this episode is for you. Yolanda and I dig into the importance of a strong support system, pride, vulnerability, what keeps us from doing the heart work, and how all of us can benefit from speaking to a counselor.
