Grace Life Church of Brookhaven is an Elder led Baptist church located in Southwest Mississippi. Grace Life Church was an old fellowship (formerly Nola Baptist Church) which was almost closed but has enjoyed being rebirthed into a healthy growing church. Grace Life Church replanted and moved to downtown Brookhaven on March 14, 2020. Grace Life Church emphasizes its preaching ministry, small groups, and local and foreign missions. The congregation consists of a blend of young and old members with a vibrant ministry to children and students.
This message looks at Christ's conversation with Nicodemus recorded in John 3:1-10 and examines why Jesus said "you must be born again." Why is the new birth necessary? How does it happen? And what happens after that?
Paul, in Ephesians 4, instructs us to be "speaking the truth in love," which prompts several questions:Why?What is "the truth" we should be speaking?What kind of love?This two part series attempts to answer those questions from the pages of Scripture.
Paul tells us that believers should be "speaking the truth in love" in Ephesians 4:15. Examining the verses that precede Ephesians 4:15, then 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, we can determine two things: what is "the truth," and what it means to speak that truth "in love." Part 2 will further examine the subject, looking at verse 6-7 in 1 Corinthians 13, and the first part of verse 8.

Christians should be mindful of both Solomon's perspective and our own, viewing the struggles of life "under the sun" in light of Who Christ is and what He's done.
What’s missing in the world, is supplied in Christ, and What’s found in the world, is corrected or counteracted or completed by Christ.
Here are some ways in which that is true:
• There is unrighteousness in the world, but Christ is righteousness • There is futility in the world, but there is purpose in Christ • There is futile wisdom in the world, but true wisdom is found in Christ • The world offers false riches, but true riches are found in Christ • There is death in the world, but Christ is Life
As Christians we do want justice for the poor in society. But, God's Word, not the world, tells us how the church should seek justice for the poor.

The church is the arena where the glory of God is to be displayed. Simply, the church exists to display the glory of God through His redeemed people.
Jesus explains that a true Christian must have the imparted righteousness of Christ This is an imparted righteousness which comes from the new birth.
The birth of Jesus is the story of Immanuel, God with us. Jesus came and was born of a woman, being fully man and fully God. Because Jesus was fully God, He was able to defeat sin, death and the grave. He is able to give new life through His resurrection.

Proverbs 11 gives young Christian women a great lesson on discretion. Verses 24-26 give a great lesson on generosity in Christian living.
The birth of Jesus is not simply a New Testament story. The Old Testament speaks of the Messiah that is coming. The Gospels speak of the Messiah who has come. The rest of the New Testament speaks of the Messiah who came.
Proverbs 11 gives many lessons on righteous living. Lessons on honesty, the benefits of gaining wisdom and receiving wise counsel.
In Proverbs 10 we see Solomon call his young son to examine 3 things in life: his work, speech and legacy.
In Proverbs 10 we see the wise son and the foolish son. Solomon contrasts the behavior of each in verses 1, 8 and 14.
Jesus destroys the external religion of the Jews through the beatitudes. He demonstrates that the Christian life is first an inner work in a man.
God blesses those who are persecuted. They are rejected, ridiculed, reviled and really persecuted all for Christ's righteousness. They are blessed on earth with Kingdom work and great reward awaits them in heaven.
The good lady of wisdom makes her case to Solomon's son. Solomon explains wisdom's relationship to God and creation. Solomon then explains the great blessings that come from attaining wisdom.
God blesses those who are peacemakers. They are at peace with God through the new birth. By sharing the gospel, they seek to bring others to peace with God. Using God's Word the standard they seek to bring peace in any circumstance in life.
Solomon warns his son to beware of the adulterous woman and her schemes for seducing him. He shows his young son that nothing but death and destruction await for the one who goes down her path.
The church is exhorted to taste and see the Lord's goodness. We are to make our boasting in Him in every condition of life.
Solomon gives his son a degree in general studies. He teaches him not to assume responsibility for another"s dept. He teaches him not to be lazy but to work. He teaches him the ways of the wicked man and how God views their sin.
God blesses those who are pure in heart. They have received a new and pure heart through the new birth, therefore they can see God.
Solomon is warning his son to stay at home with his own wife. He warns his son to stay away from the adulterous woman.
Good blesses those who are merciful to others. They extend God's love to others, helping the helpless, loving the miserable and sharing Christ's forgiveness.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, a righteousness that is only found in Christ. They will be filled but will continue to want more of Christ's righteousness.
In keeping with the family tradition, Solomon is calling his son to "watch out" and guard his path in life. He is calling his son to guard his heart for it is the spring of life.
God blesses those who mourn with inner joy and happiness. God gives kingdom life and works to those who mourn.
As Christians, we can't trust our understanding to live the Christian life. We must put our trust in God's wisdom and instruction.
The one who is totally destitute and places his whole trust in God is blessed with inner joy and happiness. To these God gives life and work in the kingdom.
God's teaching and instruction are sought after by the Christian. Through that work, God gives wisdom, insight and understanding. His wisdom and understanding protect the Christian from the many temptations in life.
True kingdom living begins by understanding the blessedness Christ wants Christians to experience.
Wisdom cries aloud in the streets. It is our responsibility to pursue wisdom and to teach our children as well.
