Contending for the Promises: A Biblical Look into the Essential Future Restoration of Israel
“a pure heart” Pure is an adjective in the Greek describing those clean or having been cleansed by God’s saving grace.
Paul is teaching Timothy what is necessary for being “prepared for every good work” in the context of elders in the church. Doctrines and practices which bring dishonor to God must be removed and replaced with godly teaching and virtues.
We continue to teach about the nature of the church and the need for elders who correct error. The authority of Scripture and priesthood of every believer are fundamental to the biblically defined church.
When heterodox teaching which is not in accord with the “sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ,” is taught in the church, the church becomes something other than the simple fellowship of those born of God into His family sharing their common life in Christ according to the means He ordained. Already during Paul’s lifetime this was happening in Ephesus where he had spent three years and given them the “whole counsel of God.” The true purpose of the gospel had been described in 1 Timothy 1:5 which is “love from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and a sincere faith.”
Paul’s warning to Timothy applies today as such false teachings proliferate through modern media. We need to have a commitment to teaching the truth and living up to it in our personal lives
When compared to the Bible the pagan versions are clearly deficient. Likewise, pagan fables tickle the ears of many. Some teachers in the church love to portray themselves as privy to secret events or causes which the rest of us have been in the dark about. When that happens, sound doctrine is rarely discussed. Timothy was to intervene and refute false teachers. Speculation about what cannot be known harms the church and pushes the truth to the side. We discuss the intrusion of genealogies into Christian teaching to prove spiritual status. What matters is whether one is in Christ or in Adam.

The institutional church continually goes astray because it is perpetuated by those who have best interests of the institution in mind rather than the well-being of those who are born of God. Eventually the church becomes something it was not and was never meant to be. It becomes an association of religious consumers who have common goals and needs which have nothing to do with growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.
We show how predictive prophecy which may or may not be true is worthless at the best. Focus of this class is on the nature of Jesus’ relationship to His flock and the definition of the church. Sadly, church history is filled with the seriously wrong definition of the church as an institution which perpetuates itself through processes which alienate true believers from the Lord who is the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4).
This is the second class covering Acts 20:28. We cover aspects of the institutional church from church history which are not compatible with the well-being of the Lord’s flock. Institutional church authorities with authority over multiple congregations are not biblical. The result is massive organizations with have little to do with the well-being of the “church of God which He purchased with His blood” (Acts 20:28b). We also cover the term “visitation” as used in Bible which is related to the term for overseers. God’s visitation through elders/overseers is to look after the precious flock He purchased with His blood.
This class focuses on the imperative statement “be on guard” at the beginning of this verse. Honor, power, and money await to seduce leaders away from caring for the people who need to be protected. Paul’s teaching to the elders in Ephesus warns about this. We discuss the simplicity of the local church grounded on the authority of Scripture and priesthood of every believer. The elders must never silence the church, but feed the flock and care for them.
One phrase that is often misused by NAR teachers is "led by the Spirit." We examine Romans 8:1-14 and show that all true believers are the sons of God. Those who are led by the flesh are unbelievers, while the redeemed of God are led by the Spirit.

There are not two different gospels. Passage show that the message of the kingdom of God is preached from Luke 4 and all the way to the end of Acts 28. Jesus and His apostles preached the kingdom of God. Jesus is the promised King who is now reigning in heaven and will come again to judge His enemies and reign on the earth. Those who repent and believe the gospel are part of the kingdom through their saving relationship to the King, and will be part of the future kingdom.
