Cybersecurity, as part of information security, is the practice of protecting critical systems and sensitive information from digital attacks. Also known as information technology (IT) security, cybersecurity measures are designed to combat threats against data confidentiality, integrity and availability, networked systems and applications, whether those threats originate from inside or outside of an organization.
In the past 15 years or so, cybersecurity attacks have substantially increased affecting government agencies, public services as well as companies, critical infrastructure and individuals. The cost of data breaches has soared as well. According to data from IBM, data breach average cost increased 2.6% from USD 4.24 million in 2021 to USD 4.35 million in 2022.

Gzim Ocakoglu, First Counselor on Mobility and Transport, Delegation of the European Union to the US (Washington, DC). Gzim explains how decarbonization of transportation is happening across the European Union and what that means. He discusses the goals of the EU's Green Deal, how the European Union and the United States are cooperating, and some of the differences and similarities. Finally, he touches on how Russia's aggression in Ukraine affects the EU decarbonization efforts.
The EU aims to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The EU's Green Deal includes an ambitious package of measures to reach that goal, such as cutting greenhouse gas emissions, investing in cutting-edge research and innovation, preserving Europe's natural environment, and more.
Transport represents almost a quarter of Europe's greenhouse gas emissions and is the main cause of air pollution in cities. Road transport is by far the biggest emitter accounting for more than 70% of all GHG emissions, followed by maritime and air. Decarbonization of transportation – road, air, and maritime – is a key component of the EU strategy.
In the United States, transportation surpassed electricity as the largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2017, so decarbonizing the sector is key to addressing climate change. President Biden's initial proposal in the American Jobs Plan has been scaled back significantly in negotiations, and it remains to be seen how the recently passed Infrastructure Bill will help address the President's energy and climate strategy when it comes to transportation.

The accounting and tax landscape which multinational businesses must navigate is increasingly complex with on-going changes to legislation as well as greater scrutiny from authorities on compliance and enforcement. These developments have been exacerbated by the global Pandemic with new changes to accounting and tax in many jurisdictions. These include new legislative proposals here in the United States, in the EU, other European countries as well as at international level. For example, the UK government recently announced changes to employee National Insurance contributions to recoup some of the increased spending during the pandemic. And Sweden recently implemented the ‘economic employer’ concept leading to further registration and reporting responsibilities for some corporates and placing pressure on foreign organizations wishing to incorporate and operate in the jurisdiction, especially if they seek to use temporary foreign workers.

The European Union and the United States have the largest bilateral trade and investment relationship and enjoy the most integrated economic relationship in the world. Although overtaken by China in 2021 as the largest EU import source for goods, the transatlantic relationship continues defining the world economy. The US remains the EU’s largest trade and investment partner by far and either the EU or the US is the largest trade and investment partner of almost every other country in the global economy. The EU and the US are also each other’s biggest source of foreign direct investment. Taken together, the economies of both territories amount to more than 40% of world GDP and more than 40% of global trade in goods and services.

For more than sixteen years, Maria Nápoles began her involvement in the world of visual arts. In 2004 her journey started as Executive Assistant next to Diego Costa Peuser, in Arte al Día Internacional en Miami Magazine. In 2008 she came to occupy the position of Executive Director International Art Fair in Miami where she held this position until 2012.
With all her accumulated knowledge and experience throughout the years of her close involvement in visual arts and her vast experience in sales she took it upon herself to seek out new Latin American artists. She made a triumphant leap forward to fund her own company, Latin American Art Pavilion (LAAP) established in Miami back in 2013.
Alongside with Latin American Art Pavilion, Maria Nápoles has been able to develop a system of commissioned exhibitions with cultural agreements with collaborations in international fairs. This is the fruition of not only in the appreciation of new art and the contemporary Latin American artists, but also has brought the art collectors interest in these new artistic proposals.
María Nápoles has also implemented advisory services for entrepreneurs interested in establishing themselves in the visual arts market in South Florida. Today, María Nápoles serves as director of the Latin American Art Pavilion (LAAP) and as Art Director for Art & Design Gallery.

For three decades, Nino Pernetti and his team have been serving both old friends and new from his beloved Coral Gables restaurant. Maria Padovan, she is a local leader on education, founded and led the former Metropolitan International School of Miami, a mother of 4, grandmother to 8. Maria is an innovator in the field of education. She came to the United States with less than $4 dollars and now was recently recognized by the President of Italy with the Order of the Star of Italy for her dedication to education and Italian culture. We are going to get to know her and learn about her take on what is needed for education today.

Annette Green Alvarez, Executive Director of Global Ties Miami since 2005, has welcomed almost three thousand international visitors to Miami. They were participants of the U.S. Department of State professional exchange programs from the International Visitor Leadership Program, Open World Leadership Program, the Fulbright Program, Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), and most recently the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI).
She is a former member of the Global Ties U.S. Board of Directors. Her efforts in promoting global, social, diplomatic, and cultural ties were recognized by proclamations from the City of Miami, and the Mayor and Commissioners of Miami-Dade County. She earned a B.A. in Modern Languages from Texas A&M University.
Alvise Casellati is considered one of the emerging talents of the latest years. He is President and Music Director of Opera Italiana is in the Air, an event with the aim of promoting knowledge and appreciation of Italian Opera targeting, in particular, the young generation through the promotion of young talents.
Recent performances include the concert in Regatta Park, Miami, on April 13, 2019, in Central Park, New York, on July 1, 2019, and last October 4, 2019, in Galleria Umberto I in Naples, Italy, with Teatro di San Carlo, Accademia del Teatro alla Scala singers, and Conservatorio di Benevento. He also recently conducted at Zaryadye Hall Moscow the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra with soloists of Academia del Teatro alla Scala and Academia of Teatro Bolshoi.
In 2019 he brought Opera Italiana is in the Air to the City of Miami. A beautiful evening at Regatta Park full of opera and open to the public.
Dr. Magda Novelli Pearson is the Italian Program coordinator at FIU. She is in charge of two Study Abroad Programs in Italy. She is the Advisor of the Italian club and FIU University Instructor. In charge of CELI exams in cooperation with the University of Perugia (Italy). Her interests are in COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) projects. She already coiled several courses at FIU in partner with the University of Perugia (Italy)." Magda is a board member of local Italian non-profit organization: ODLI that promotes Italian Language and Culture in K-12 schools and is sponsored by the Italian Government. Among other things, ODLI organizes events for the Italian Heritage Month that takes place every year in October in Miami Dade County.
ODLI Organization of the Development of the Italian Language and Culture (Organization for the Development of Italian Studies) is a State of Florida non-profit organization 501(c)(3), which operates under the official auspices of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ODLI’s mission is to promote Italy’s language and culture for Florida’s students grade K-12 and adults. Together with the Consulate General of Italy in Miami, ODLI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Miami Dade County Public Schools, Broward County Public Schools, Collier County Public Schools, Hillsborough County Public Schools and an Agreement with Palm Beach County Public Schools. In 2005 the Florida Department of Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Consulate General of Italy in Miami and ODL.
Mr. Pastor is the Executive Director of Societa' Dante Alighieri Miami. He provides general oversight of day-to-day upper operations of one of the premier cultural institutions in the city of Coral Gables in Miami Dade County, Florida.
The Societa' Dante Alighieri in Miami is part of the Societa' Dante Alighieri, founded in 1889 and headquartered in Rome, Italy. It is the oldest and most prestigious institution for the tutelage and promotion of the Italian language and culture. In 2005 the Societa' Dante Alighieri Miami was recognized with the prestigious Principe De Asturias Award for culture. Through the personal efforts of Mr. Pastor Societa' Dante Alighieri Miami has fostered and develop deep ties and collaboration with the Consul General of Italy, France, Germany, and Brazil in Miami. During the last decade, the Societa' Dante Alighieri Miami and Mr. Pastor personally have been instrumental in the establishment of branches of Societa in Puerto Rico, Panama, Atlanta Charleston, Grenada, and Spain, Mr. Pastor's understanding and involvement in the community allows him to forge long-standing relationships and innovative programs. In recognition of his efforts in 2009, Mr. Pastor was granted the title of Cavalleri (OMRI), the highest honor bestowed by the president of the Republic of Italy. Mr. Pastor has also been named the Consul General of Italy in Puerto Rico.
