In this series we will be exploring the history of the Church. We will look at the people, moments, and events that shaped us today, and the way it challenges our beliefs even today.
When we really think about spending time with the people with whom we are close, we often think of times of restful pleasures. The friends with whom I go on the annual trout fishing trip share a comfort and ease with one another that is reflective of the slow-paced and energy-replenishing activity of fishing. Would it surprise you to see that Jesus treasured “down time” with His friends and looked forward to getting away with them for some rejuvenation?
In this installment of our new sermon series, "Jesus Said WHAT?" We explore the clever, challenging, and sometimes hilarious teachings of Jesus, as we continue to see our Savior in a new light.
We all experience situations of distress: times of suffering, guilt, and sin, and even feeling like God is absent. These psalms give us permission to name these realities before God, and they move us from request, through honest complaint, confession, or assertions of innocence, to statements of trust and hopefulness. They challenge us to honesty with God and one another in the midst of our brokenness.

The church, fractioning in light of Stephen's death, flees from persecution. With death hemming them in, a small group of Christians run almost 600 miles away. But out of the jaws of defeat, Jesus gives them a New Mission, Commitment, Vision, and Identity.
The fires of this persecution serve to refine the people of Antioch, and brand them with a new name: Christians.
We will be doing a dive into the seeming contradiction between a God who desires all to live, yet tortures them forever.
Does God still work through miracles today? Can we still touch into this power of healing today?

What do you do when in one single moment everything changes? These changes often come unannounced and with no warning, yet we can rest assured they will face them. This morning we find ourselvess in one of these moments. As the world is dealing with global pandemic, we are forced to learn to adapt to a new normal. Using Acts 8, we will look at another day that changed everything. A day that threw the Kingdom of God into absolute disarray, could have destroyed everything. But a new normal does not have to be a defeat, it is just a change. Let's use this story to discover how we as Christians can learn to manage a moment that changes everything.
