Whether they realize it or not, most people carry troubling memories, relationship impediments, unexplained behaviours or unhelpful feelings that came about because of past traumas. In this message we will look at some of the remarkable circuits that God built into our brains, and examine why memory fragments associated with danger or deep emotions remain “stuck” and continue to influence who we are. A number of strategies are available to help process these negative effects of trauma. Bible references (such as Isaiah 53:1-3) and a short two-part skit are used to illustrate how Jesus can remove the sting and power of those memories and bring healing and peace. The video concludes with a series of steps that a person can follow to experience a measure of healing from Jesus; ongoing work may be required.

In some ways, experiencing God’s presence is like sailing. With patience and practice, you can learn to sense and make the most of gentle stirrings and, in doing so, be carried to stronger winds. This is one dimension of “Seeking the Lord.” We are also told to “Taste and see that the Lord is good,” and so we must learn to actively “savour” our times in the Lord’s presence. Being in his presence can bring friendship, joy, peace, rest, courage, strength, protection, repentance and transformation. Things that can be helpful to finding his presence include worship, restful experiences, Bible reading, the quiet of night, and the company and words of other believers (where two or three are gathered in his name).

God’s kingdom is unique. How the parables reveal truth and hide it at the same time. A recipe for growing faith.

View Details

Only those who become like a child can enter the kingdom (Matt 18). What does it mean to be like a child? What makes a child unique and how could this bring success in the kingdom? Childlikeness is a key that opens the door of faith by the power of imagination and wonder. The examples are countless in the parables of Jesus and stories throughout the Bible. This opens the door to kingdom changing worship and faith. This is a key to the kingdom being furthered by the king during the time of the Bible and today. We ought to partner with children and youth, providing them the opportunity to serve God as our equals and taking responsibility to protect them from the plans of the enemy to destroy their childlikeness.

View Details

The Kingdom of God is the Kingdom of our Father. To ensure we are a part of this kingdom we need to ensure we have been adopted by and embraced God as our Father. If there are childish things in our lives it may be because we have not chosen to embrace God as our Father or have areas where this has not transformed our lives. True Christlike, childlike maturity comes from knowing God as our Father, and is a maturity very different than that which the world promotes, or fails to embrace. The task of the church is to help children keep their childlikeness and grow out of childishness as they grow up, embracing God as their Father and finding their role in the kingdom.
