This date will most likely not be forgotten for a while. George Floyd, an African American man, was violently and forcefully subdued by a few police officers that ultimately ended with him on road being held down by the police officers until he eventually passed out and in the end, passed under the pressure of this police officer's knee.
This incident went on to spark social and political outrage, like many of the similar incidents that have happened in the past. The main difference between this one and some of the past incidents, was that it was/is clear that the force imposed in subduing George Floyd was by far unnecessary. And there is no defense of the police officers involved.
This episode is a special message about that incident and my response. I am against racism. I stand with the people demanding justice. But I also want to bring to light aspects that still need to be addressed when so many people are up in arms demanding change yet not actively trying or participating in productive and constructive means of communication. Yes, protest. It is your right. That is way more constructive and something I can support. But rioting is not something that will get anyone anywhere.
Thanks for listening to this episode. Cultured Life is just starting out and I pray and hope that when all is said in done that this does not affect the perception of this podcast if you so decide the other content is interesting and want listen.
This two minute long episode breaks down the basics of my life and the many aspects that have defined who I am at the most basic level of description. From my mother's time in the military for the first 10 years of my life to my fathers stint with the State Department afterwards, I have been privileged to experience many different things throughout my life and through those experiences my family and I have a lot of it we want to share. How did moving every two of so years effect my outlook on life vs someone who has either never moved or moved only a few times? What was it like for my mom to switch from being full-time military, retiring and then becoming a homeschooling mother to my brother who is special needs? This is what we aim to address and discuss among other topics throughout the life of this podcast.
This episode has also been produced and designed as an entry into the My Rode Cast podcast contest.
