Back in November, I teased that I was starting a new position at my center. On December 1, I announced I was a part-time salary BCBA. I originally intended this podcast to be released that day but due to a number of issues, it kept getting pushed back.

3 months later we are finally releasing it! Truth be told that is a good thing! I know more about the position now, can truly explain my role, and help you all understand what my life looks like now! Enjoy!!

The first time I took the BCBA exam, I didn’t study ethics very much. I thought I was an ethical person and would instinctively know what the correct answer was. Countless people advised against that strategy but I tuned them out and promptly failed the exam. The second time around I took ethics a lot more seriously because ethics are complex! This podcast is the same exact scenario that I used to study ethics the second time. We walk through a bunch of ethical scenarios, I pause so you can consider your answer, then explain the answer we are looking for. I hope this helps you study for the BCBA exam!

As of February 2021 I am 80% of the way through my BCBA supervision. A lot of people assume that I’m currently in school and I get why it’s confusing that I actually started my certificate 2015 but I’m not finishing up until six years later. There were three main reasons why I took an extensive break towards working towards BCBA. The first one being I really struggled in my classes and I didn’t think I was smart enough to pass the test. The second one being I really struggled to get supervision and I couldn’t balance it all. And the third one being I met some not nice BCBAs and I really didn’t want to associate with them. The podcast will tackle all three of those things, and explain how I got back on the path towards BCBA!
