I try and be dignified around Joe Camilleri but every time I speak with him I increasingly remind myself of Sharon Strzelecki.
Borders are reopening. Australians are able to think about going overseas again. Some are deciding that living life is more important than work.
Holmsey and Jen talk with Deb Long about all the above. Deb also speaks on nearly two years of an uncertain work future and tips for those who are hoping to dip their toes in the travel waters soon.
A couple of weeks ago Jan rang 2CA to find out some details about where she could find out opening details post lockdown. She's been trying for years to find a specific $2 coin, with sentimental value.
Jen is a coin finder herself and told Jan she'd track one down.
Today they rang Jan with an update with an unexpectedly beautiful response from Jan.
The idea for Garry Malhotra Ken Behren's Helping Hands came about as Garry was recovering after having his appendix removed.
Throughout the ACT's lockdown, Garry has gone above and beyond to feed the those in need in the Territory as well as those who are working to help vaccinate our community.
As we move out of lockdown Garry will continue to provide meals and he's got some new plans as well.
Holmsey and Jen this week have been exploring urban myths of Canberra.

Jen Seyderhelm counts down the Greatest No 1 Hits of All Time in Australia.
This week we’ll rock with a reptile and a feathered friend and take a bridge over some stressed liquid to a land where men chunder.
Holmsey and Jen interview Joe Camilleri, from The Black Sorrows about his fiftieth album release, Saint Georges Road.
Holmsey and Jen spoke with the lovely and immensely talented Arlo Sim after he was a finalist on PRIME7's The Voice.
But no one was prouder than Arlo's Nanny Lyn.
Holmsey and Jen talk with Marg about the National Archives of Australia and some great pictures and history of 2CA she has unearthed ahead of our 90th birthday.
Marg also has tips if you are trying to find out more about your own family history, including a lovely story about a letter she found, written by her father.
Lockdown is tough and small businesses are struggling.
Holmsey and Jen chat with Frog, an icon of the local music scene and owner of Songland Records, about how he's coping and adapting plus a couple of options to help provide a voice for others in a similar situation.
This is an interview, dating back to the 80s, of two men chatting.
Can you pick the two voices?
This morning on 2CA's Classic Breakfast with Holmsey and Jen, Jen revisited the "old days" of radio when sometimes you played a 45" at 33" with humorous results.
One example is how much Kylie Minogue sounds like Rick Astley when slowed down. Holmsey asked whether then Rick sped up sounded like Kylie?
The results are astonishing and might just start some rumours! Both were part of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman stable of artists.
Then, for no GOOD reason, Jen and Holmsey turn their attention to one hit wonder Charlene.........
It's that most special day of the year - Nathan Michail's birthday.
To celebrate I have mustered up all my years of editing talent, my skills on various of the most emotionally potent musical instruments and I've drunk my honey and lemon to sing this sweet ballad to the utmost of my abilities.
Happy birthday my sweet friend - and as you know the accordion is my gift to you. x
Holmesy and Jen chat with Director of the Australian War Memorial Matt Anderson about Anzac Day events for 2021 and how they have differed and adapted from 2020's event held during lockdown.
This is a recording from Jen Seyderhelm's Podcasting Course run over the weekend of October 10 and 11, 2020.
James Scott, owner, actor, writer and educator at Perform Australia and former Director of Customer Business Transformation and current ANU Masters Student, conducting research with a focus on emerging technologies as an enabler of organisational change management, Rizwan Khan had not met prior to the weekend. Despite their different arts and technology backgrounds, they found common ground, poetry and harmonic structure in this fifteen minute podcast they called The Theory of Creativity.
Working from home is not new.
Nor is the technology that allows it to happen effectively and at scale.
Global organisations have had remote workforces and teams that work across multiple time zones for decades. The seismic shift that occurred recently across public, private and non-government sectors is not an IT transformation. It has not been a complete rethinking of how IT can serve new markets and ways of producing and delivering products and services. It has, instead, been a way to get people working from home at scale.
But, have new managerial styles evolved post lockdown?
Doctor Kim Vella, Credentialed Executive Coach and Director of Kim Vella Coaching and Anca Costin, Australian and Internationally trained barrister with Blackburn Chambers both deal with employment issues and spend a lot of time listening and observing what is happening in the workplace and where changes should occur to benefit staff and management.
CEO of Calamity Daniel Lewkovitz speaks with John Honovich from IPVM
Fever detecting cameras are going to be a gold rush and possibly the biggest snake oil by the electronic security industry since 'analytics' 20 years ago that was utter garbage at the time.
Panicked buyers are rushing to vendors who are selling technology that quite simply is not fit for purpose.
In some cases, manufacturers specifically indicate in their literature that the hardware is not fit for medical applications. That has not stopped people selling it as such.
Moreover, there are many reasons why a person's skin temperature could be high (or low) that are unrelated to a virus and may result from ambient temperatures, stress or clothing.
This is the final episode as sports are starting to resume (we hope). Jen, Brent, Eddie and Lettsy are both sad and happy.
This week they talk about the NRL ref dispute, the AFL bonking ban, using spit (and sweat) on cricket balls, who'll win the AFL and NRL Grand Finals and the greatest athletes of all time.
Oh, and Steve Waugh might be mentioned.
As always there's a lot of sideline commentary and digression. Thanks for listening and loving sports as much as we do.
Jen Seyderhelm, Brent Ford, Eddie Williams and Nathan Letts talk NRL, AFL, Rugby Union and cricketing news.
Then they revolutionise the world of sports with tippity, Trams in tennis, cricket with a dog ball thrower, two games of AFL being played concurrently to allow for a full season and there was also mention of bowling balls being used in cricket.
Re-Sporting goes where no other sporting show dares. And that's probably for the best.
Well that escalated quickly.....
Jen Seyderhelm, Brent Ford, Eddie Williams and Nathan Letts do talk about NRL, AFL and cricket but, somehow, Brent decides that while he sits on the fence on many things, one thing he is certain of is that the ACT is an island, Jen puts Lettsy on the spot about the cricket players more shiny balls, everyone picks their greatest NRL player of all time and next week it looks like we'll revolutionise sports by mixing everything up a bit (plus discovering Ed's No 1 AFL player - if he can pick just one!)
Jen Seyderhelm, Brent Ford, Eddie Williams and Nathan Letts cover the week that was in NRL (lack of social distancing), AFL (naughty WA!) and cricket (Lettsy gets challenged to state his case on who was going to get the Cricket Australia contracts - and he doesn't wanna)
Then, all four talk about their greatest sporting moments of all time.
We've counted down from 5-1 and no moment has been repeated across all 20. The No 1s are connected by not necessarily being a grand final win but rather a rise of the underdog or moment that defined who we thought we could become.
On this weeks Re-Sporting Episode (to the tune of My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music
We talk Project Apollo and NRL in a bubble,
Commissioner Wayne Pearce and AFL Hubble,
Siddle’s bananas, Thurston’s a hero
AND JEN’S GONNA BE THE NEXT NRL CEO.
Nathan Michail is a dear radio friend who has been keeping me sane during isolation with audio letters, anecdotes, music and memes.
That was until today.
Welcome to Re-Sporting. The Australian sports podcast keeping sporting news and spirits alive while our favourite codes are in hiatus.
In this week's episode hosted by Jen Seyderhelm and Brent Ford, Eddie Williams provides some thoughts on AFL's canned sound effects and holiday facial hair.
Nathan Letts brings IPL and the John Cena to the table. Not together of course.
Brent and Jen discuss the NRL resumption date of May 28 and whether it is a possibility (Jen is convinced it can happen).
And they all talk about their third favourite sporting moments - from cricket to basketball to AFL.
Re-Sporting covers all your sporting emotional needs while you survive on replays.
Jen Seyderhelm, Brent Ford, Eddie Williams and Nathan Letts are keeping sports alive when there ain't much to watch.
This weeks highlights include Eddie's Covid-19 team, Lettsy's memories of a certain moment in France in 2011 and Jen and Brent's No 4 sporting moment of all time, plus visits to NRL Island.
Times are tough in Australian sport. There's no Rugby League, Union or AFL. The Olympics and tennis are postponed.
Jen Seyderhelm, Brent Ford, Eddie Williams and Nathan Letts keep your chin up and up to date with what IS happening, as well as savouring the greatest sporting moments of all time.
