If questions like these resonate with you, then you have come to the right place.
My name is Michael Gallagher. Join me each week as we celebrate the life and the journey of these men and women in an ever-growing wine industry. Not only will you see their hard work and commitment, you'll appreciate their unwavering persistence to embrace opportunities and accomplish whatever it is they set their minds to.
In Episode 157 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Chris Phelps, Owner and Winemaker of Ad Vivum Cellars and Coil Wines out of Napa Valley and Sonoma, CA.
๐ท
Chris is the final interview for Season 4 and what a way to end an incredible season filled with so many amazing guests than to have Chris Phelps on the show, a man whose personal story is just as storied and illustrious as his career in the wine industry.
๐ท
Chris was a recommendation by his son Josh Phelps who I had the privilege of interviewing in Episode 143 where we talked about Josh's brand, Grounded Wine Co. so be sure to check that out but shout out to Josh for being the reason this interview was able to take place!
๐ท
In this episode Chris talks about his life growing up in Livermore, CA, mildly surrounded by wine with his parents and in particular his connection to his buddy Mike while fighting sage brush wildfires in the Idaho desert that sparked his interests about wine through Mike's love and passion for wine himself.
๐ท
Chris talks about ditching pre-med and taking up wine studies while attending UC Davis and as a result, his time abroad working and studying in France and in particular being part of the incredible 1982 growing season.
๐ท
This is where Chris got linked up with Christian Moueix of Petrus and Dominus and winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet, what those connections meant to him, and how they also led him back to California where he eventually became the inaugural winemaker for the famed Dominus Estate.
๐ท
With that being said, Chris talks about the 1991 Dominus that he made, a wine that many believe to be a unicorn wine, and how that wine not only defined him as a winemaker but was also at a time when Dominus was really starting to dial in everything they had been working toward over the previous decade.
๐ท
Chris talks about what it was like to be winemaker for Swanson Vineyards, Red Winemaker for Caymus, and his personal brands Ad Vivum and Coil and the meaning behind Ad Vivum which is a story Chris was willing to share and you're not going to want to miss.
๐ท
Chris goes on to talk about his son Josh and what it means to get to work alongside Josh with his project Grounded, and also what it's like to be doing what he loves alongside his son which is super cool!
๐ท
Chris's passion, vulnerability, and honesty shine through in this podcast and whether it's his mentors he's had along his journey, wines he's had the privilege to make, or those he's mentored himself, I couldn't think of a better guest to have to close out Season 4 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast!

In Episode 156 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with Rebekah Wineburg, Owner and Winemaker of Post & Vine and Winemaker at Quintessa out of Napa Valley, CA.
๐ท
In this episode Rebekah talks about her life growing up, her family's love and appreciation for wine and a trip to Napa Valley with her family when she was 16 years old that was ultimately responsible for her eventual pursuit in a life of winemaking.
๐ท
Rebekah shares a serendipitous moment while dining with her family that involved a special bottle of Italian wine by Ornellaia and how that wine not only had an "aha" effect on her perception of wine, but it was also a place she would end up working and beginning her career.
๐ท
Rebekah talks about her times at Staglin Family Vineyard, Rudd Estate, and Buccella Wines and what each of these experiences meant to her individually, and of course her current time as winemaker at Quintessa and what it means to be a part of the rich history and success that the Huneeus family has created over the decades.
๐ท
Rebekah also talks about her personal brand Post & Vine, the different types of wines she creates with Post & Vine vs. Quintessa and how these particular vineyards for Post & Vine are almost these forgotten vineyards with tons of history, backbone and pedigree.

In Episode 155 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Dan Petroski, Owner and Winemaker of Massican Winery out of St. Helena, CA.
๐ท
In this episode Dan talks about his life growing up in Brooklyn, NY, his time in Manhattan in High School, and eventually his time at Columbia University playing football.
๐ท
Dan's introduction to wine came at the unfortunate season opening loss to Harvard University his Freshman year. The team spent the evening at a Chinese restaurant where he had a little too much white wine to drink, but the wine itself would somehow find it's way back to him a few years later.
๐ท
Dan talks about his time working in publishing for Time Inc. from 1996-2005 for editorials such as Sports Illustrated which was a huge advantage for him in the business world of winemaking because it allowed him to have a road map to dissect problems for example and indirectly helped him build his personal brand Massican.
๐ท
During his time with Time Inc. Dan talks about a sabbatical he took to Italy to work for a family owned winery and what it was like going from football at Columbia, working 10 hour days in NYC, to vineyard work, harvest, and spending time with the owners learning about the land, viticulture, farming practices, and how to ultimately appreciate wine.
๐ท
Dan talks about his time at DuMOL Winery and Estate in the Russian River Valley and his time at Larkmead Vineyards in Calistoga and how all that wouldn't have even been possible had it not been for Andy Smith.
๐ท
Dan talks about the creation of Massican with his first vintage in 2009, the inspiration behind the name being associated to the Massican Hills in Italy as an homage to his family, and how his whole experience during his sabbatical had everything to do with the inspiration for Massican because of the love and appreciate he had for Meditteranean lifestyle and culture.
๐ท
Dan talks about the inspiration he had to create Massican Magazine thanks to his time in publishing and growing up reading magazines as a kid, his knowledge in the Metaverse and blockchains, and what inspired him to create an NFT project which allows anyone an opportunity to get their very own Massican NFT with every purchase of Massican wine!
๐ท
Dan also talks about climate change and what he's doing to help lessen his carbon footprint, what it meant to receive San Francisco Chronicle's Winemaker of the Year in 2017, and what it meant for his to join up with E&J Gallo and how amazing it is to have their support and resources.
๐ท
This podcast is top to bottom one of the coolest conversations I've had on this show and it means to much to get to share it with each and every one of you today!

In Episode 154 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Matt Murphy and Mark Porembski, Owner and Winemaker of Unwritten Wines out of Napa Valley, CA.
๐ท
This is the only dual guest podcast this season which is exciting because I've done interviews like this in the past where you get to hear 2 different pespectives of the same brand and in the case of Unwritten, from an Ownership and Winemaking standpoint.
๐ท
Unwritten was launched in 2014 as a passion project between a handful of guys either involved in wine, or passionate about wine, that collectively wanted to come together and create something unique in an industy that it seems like today is growing at a faster pace than ever.
๐ท
In this episode Matt starts off by talking about his life growing up around his grandfather who was an Italian immigant that migrated to Ellis Island from Northern Italy and who had a passion for cultivating the land from orchids, fruit trees, to eventually grapes.
๐ท
Matt continues to talk about his work in tech and how he eventually linked up with Randy Wigginton, (number 6 employee of Apple in 1976) and Isaac Pirolo with an idea to create a brand around their shared passions in wine.
๐ท
Mark jumps in and talks about how he had absolutely no wine background growing up and instead was studying poetry in Boston visiting local restaurants and enjoying different wines with friends from time to time.
๐ท
Mark and Matt collectively talks about how they got connected at a private tasting at Acme Fine Wines in St. Helena for Mark to eventually become winemaker, the creation of Unwritten, the inspiration behind the name and how in their first year they only started the with a 50 case production.
๐ท
Mark also talks about what it's like to make wines alongside his wife Jennifer Williams with their personal brand Zeitgeist, and Mark's creation of Band of Vintners which supports local winemakers that make the same incredible, yet affordable wines mostly distributed for "by the glass" sales in restaurants.
๐ท
As Matt quoted and I think is fitting to close this intro, "Life is unwritten. It's your journey to forge and create and do what makes you happy and don't hold back."

In Episode 153 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Natalie Winkler, Winemaker and Viticulturist for Salvestrin Winery out of St. Helena, CA.
๐ท
In this episode Natalie talks about her life growing up in Kansas City and later attending the University of Oregon where she initially found a love and passion for wine working at a wine bar while attending classes.
๐ท
After travels and studies abroad Natalie would find herself at Westwood Estate Wines in St. Helena working alongside David Ramey and how a recommendation from Aaron Pott to meet Michel Rolland would provide her an internship opportunity in France which would have a massive influence on who she is today as a winemaker.
๐ท
Natalie goes on to talk about accepting the winemaking position at Salvestrin Winery in 2017, what it's like to cultivate one of the Dr. Crane vineyards, and also what it's like to be a part of the rich history that Rich and Shannon Salvestrin and continued throughout the years.
๐ท
With that being said, Natalie talks about Rich's influence on rootstock over several decades owning his own Nursery business and what she's learned from Rich as it pertains to rootstock and how that mentorship has been incredibly influential to her career as a viticulturist.
๐ท
Natalie talks about her strength in organic, biodynamic, and regenerative farming that she's learned over the years while working alongside Philippe Coderey, and how those practices if adopted little by little can be so impactful for so many people just like herself.
๐ท
Natalie also talks about the amazing 2023 vintage and this whole conversation in general from a background in French winemaking, Spanish winemaking, sustainable farming practices you name it, this episode is jammed packed with so many amazing things that I can't wait for you to take a listen!

In Episode 152 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Michael Cruse, Owner and Winemaker of Ultramarine Wines and Cruse Wine Co. out of Petaluma, CA.
๐ท
Having Michael on the podcast was amazing because I was able to learn about what itโs like to make Cali Sparkling and Petnats vs. traditional still white and red varietals that a majority of winemakerโs produce.
๐ท
It was actually thanks to a Reel that I noticed on my IG page with MS Dustin Wilson tasting through Michaelโs โCruseโ lineup that got me intrigued which Iโm grateful I stumbled across.
๐ท
In this episode Michael talks about his life growing up and in particular his time at University of Cal Berkley and how his Instructor Terry Leighton had a lot to do with inspiring a love and a passion for wine in him through the correlation of his Bio-chemistry degree.
๐ท
Michael talks about his personal brand Ultramarine Wines, what it means for that brand to be recognized as California's first Sparkling cult wine, and the thought process for Michael and his business partners while creating Ultramarine in the early 2000's.
๐ท
Michael goes on to talk about his other project Cruse Wine Co., what makes it different from Ultramarine in terms of Sparkling, and his Pรฉt-Nat portfolio with Cruse and why these wines are so unique and appropriate for California's growing region.
๐ท
Michael also shares what it meant to be name San Francisco Chronicles Winemaker of the Year and how that recognition has been an encouragement to him throughout the course of his career.

In Episode 151 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Dominic Chappellet Chief Operating Officer of Chappellet Winery out of Pritchard Hill, CA.
๐ท
Iโve often spoke about how Chappellet is at the top of my list of wineries in the Napa Valley but itโs without question their contribution to viticulture and winemaking have placed them at that same level amongst so many people just like myself.
๐ท
When I decided to relaunch my podcast in the earlier part of 2023, Chappellet was the first family I thought of as a potential guest on the show so I reached out to Alexa Chappellet to see about a potential interview and went from there.
๐ท
Alexa was kind enough to connect me with the PR team to organize everything and before long I was chatting with Dominic Chappellet about all the things his family created in the wine industry!
๐ท
In this episode Dominic talks about his Father Donn and Molly, Donn's entrepreneurial background with coffee dispensing and Molly's background in architecture, art, literature, and being a James Beard award winning author!
๐ท
Dominic talks about the decision his parents made after Donn's coffee dispensing business went public to sell everything they had and move the entire family to Napa Valley to go full time in the wine industry.
๐ท
Dominic went on to talk about what it was like for his family to break ground in Pritchard Hill in 1967 with the help of Architect Ed Moses and Engineer Dick Keith and the inspiration they had to choose Pritchard Hill thanks to the great Andrรฉ Tchelistcheff.
๐ท
Dominic talks about what it was like for his family to make their 1969 Estate Cabernet, a wine that is considered today to be a unicorn wine, his mothers love and passion for their Chenin Blanc.
๐ท
Dominic also shares the privilege his family has to focus on the environment through their solar project, state-of-the-art water processing system, and being fully certified organic in 2012 by the (CCOF) California Certified Organic Farmers.
๐ท
As I mentioned, this podcast means so much to me and what this family has done for so many decades to make a massive impact on the wine industry and is a conversation I know you're going to love as well!

In Episode 150 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, I had the opportunity to sit down with Michel Gassier, Owner of Winemaker of Chรขteau de Nages and Domaine Gassier out of the Costiรจres de Nรฎmes appellation of the Languedoc-Roussillon Region of France which is one of the most southernly parts of the historic Rhรดne Valley.
๐ท
Michel kicks off the 2nd half of Season 4 of the podcast and he's also my first old-world wine guest on the show so it brings me a tremendous amount of honor and gratitude to be sharing his story and the multiple generations of his family in the wine industry.
๐ท
In this episode Michel talks about his time growing up in the outdoors of the Rhรดne Valley, his time attending Ag school, and how thanks to his secondary education was able to opt out of a mandatory 18 month military service obligation by working at the French Embassy in Washington DC.
๐ท
Michel talks about his time at Domaine Bernard and how eventually becoming President of this winery was pivotal in helping him not only earn an income while learning sales and marketing, but eventually getting his personal brand up and running, focusing soley on his own vineyards and winery (Domaine Gassier) by the end of 1999.
๐ท
Michel talks about the creation of Domaine Gassier while simultaneously working at his family winery Chรขteau de Nages with his brother. Michel goes on to say that "Chรขteau de Nages is the inherited terroir while Domaine Gassier is the chosen terroir!"
๐ท
Michel also goes on to talk about the Nรฎmes appellation and what makes it so special, his philosophy on pruning, and Michel even educates us on some of the common misconceptions of old-world wines and even some of the cultural advantages and benefits that we all love and appreciate about this beautiful and historical terroir!
๐ท
Having Michel onboard was truly and honor and a special shoutout to Leah Isenberg of Colangelo & Partners for making this interview possible from South FL to South FR! ๐๐ผ

In Episode 149 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jean Hoefliger, Owner of Jean Hoefliger Wine Consulting and Winemaker of AXR out of Napa Valley, California.
๐ท
Jean was a previous podcast guest in Episode 51 and is part of a four interview lineup where I brought back a few amazing people for a new, fresh conversation as a soft launch for Season 4! With Jean being the 4th person of the throwbacks it was great having him back but I also can't believe we're already half way though Season 4 of the podcast!
๐ท
In this episode Jean talks about his time at Newton Vineyard and Alpha Omega Winery as Winemaker early in his career and how those experiences, especially woking with world-renowned Consultant Michel Rolland really had a massive impact on who he is today as a consultant himself.
๐ท
Jean talks about the consulting side of winemaking and why it's so important and especially how he's personally never satisfied in his pursuits of perfection and how he "positions himself more in doubting, therefore more progression."
๐ท
Jean also educates us on the importance of pruning and how he delays his pruning to play off the frost season, speeding up bud break for the vintage to come and why it's so important for him in the long run.
๐ท
Jean brings so much energy and charisma to this podcast and as a mid-season finale for Season 4, you're not going to want to miss!

In Episode 148 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with John Caldwell or "JFC"...Owner, Smuggler, and Head Dude of Caldwell Vineyard out of the Coombsville AVA of Napa Valley, CA.
๐ท
John Caldwell is what I would call a true pioneer in his ability to understand French vine clones back in the early 1980's and how important they would be to viticulture in other parts of the world, and especially in his vineyard in California.
๐ท
The problem was, John wanted them faster than customs would allow so he smuggled them across the Canadian border, which this story in itself is something out of a movie and illustrated in such a way that John leaves you captivated and speechless all at the same time.
๐ท
John talks about everything from his time growing up learning from his parents but especially his mother in her shoe business about Entrepreneurship and everything that goes into running a business successfully through hard work and commitment.
๐ท
John talks about what inspired him to purchase his property in Coombsville in the early 1980's and the day he realized while digging up dirt with the Abreu brothers on his property that being a winegrower was what he was destined to be.
๐ท
John also talks about his infamous smuggling story in great detail, what it's meant to him and his legacy over the years, and how those risks have offered him huge rewards over the course of his lifetime.
๐ท
This is just bits and pieces of an incredible interview that I believe will go down as one of the most inspiring and captivating interviews of this season so get ready for a wild ride with the legend himself, John Caldwell!

In Episode 147 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Rebecca George, Owner and Winemaker of Mojave Wines and Associate Winemaker of Brandlin Estate out of Sonoma and Napa Valley, CA.
๐ท
In this podcast Rebecca talks about what it was like growing up in the Mojave Dessert, exploring nature and her surroundings in the Canyons at the base of the Eastern Sierra's, and how her love for nature and exploring easily translated to her love for vineyards and the outdoor life of winemaking.
๐ท
Rebecca talks about some amazing encouragement from her stepmom, (also named Rebecca George) to enroll in Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis while in pursuit of her bioscience degree and how if it wasn't for that encouragement we may know even know the Rebecca George we know today in winemaking.
๐ท
Rebecca also shares some pretty incredible "pinch me" moments that she got to experience while pursuing her career in wine like getting to taste at Domaine De La Romanรฉe-Conti (DRC), when she was in her early 20's, working at Marcassin for Helen Turley, being the Winemaker at Kelly Fleming Wines and also what it's meant to have Francoise Peschon as a mentor then and throughout her career.
๐ท
Speaking of Francoise, she was arguably the person responsible for encouraging Rebecca to step out and start her own brand Mojave which pays homage to her childhood roots of the Mojave Dessert and focuses on bright acidic chardonnay's and pinot noir's.
๐ท
Rebecca is also the Associate Winemaker for Brandlin Estate, a winery with a century's worth of history, elevated up in the mountains of the Mount Veeder AVA, a sub-appellation of the Napa Valley.๐ท

Eric has always been a guy I've looked up to from a place of Entrepreneurship, a place of risk taking, but also a guy whose personality shines through and someone who at the end of the day, tells it like it is and makes his wines from that same genuine and authentic place.
๐ท
Eric starts the show talking about his life before wine as a concert promoter and a real estate developer in Newport Beach, CA before deciding to leave that all behind with his wife Lisa and head to Paso Robles to become a full-time farmer.
๐ท
Eric talks about the history of Booker, going back to brother's Claude and Dick Booker and what they meant to the local community, and also his first 5 vintages as a winemaker in the early 2000's, leaning on mentorship from gentlemen like Stephan Asseo of L'Aventure Winery and Justin Smith of Saxum Vineyards.
๐ท
Eric also talks about the blessing of 2023 harvest and his other brands; My Favorite Neighbor which pays homage to Stephan Asseo, his neighbor in Paso, and Harvey and Harriet which pays homage to his parents Harvey and Harriet and what they meant to him.
๐ท
Eric delivers in so many ways in this podcast and tells it like it is so get ready for an interview from a guy full of heart and energy and commitment to something that started with a vision over 2 decades ago!

In Episode 145 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Ellie Anest, Owner and Vintner of Eleven Eleven Wines out of Napa Valley, CA.
๐ท
Ellie is a guest that I've wanted to have on the show for several years now, dating back to the early part of 2018 when this podcast was in it's beginning days. Her entrepreneurial spirit in business have always been inspiring to me so when I learned that an interview was set and on the horizon I was beyond thrilled for the opportunity!
๐ท
In this episode Ellie talks about her life growing up on a farm with her parents Paul and Katherine and the inspiration they were for countless reasons but especially as far as hard work and commitment are concerned.
๐ท
Ellie talked about the creation of 11:11, the inspiration behind the brand and the unique relationships she had with her business partners that really made everything come together over a shared love and passion for wine and fellowship.
๐ท
Ellie talks about what it's like to have Kirk Venge on as winemaker and his passion and expertise for how he crafts all his wines and how he inspired what was originally a real estate transaction with 11:11 to a wine venture that would lead to so much more fulfillment as a result.
๐ท
Ellie talks about what it's like to be a custom crush facility for other brands in Napa while making her own wines and how she prides herself on being so attentive to detail, even down to the cleanliness and sanitization of her facility.
๐ท
Ellie also talks about what 11:11 truly means to her from an ethos standpoint, what it means to give back as a philanthropist, and the exciting things she does on a daily basis to make a moment for each and every person that enjoys and celebrates her wines.
๐ท
Ellie is a true entrepreneur, and extraordinary businesswoman, but more importantly than that, a woman who is so passionate and loving to everyone and everything that surrounds her which I'm excited to get to share with you today!

In Episode 144 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, I have the privilege of sitting down with Russell Bevan, Owner and Winemaker of Adversity Cellars and Bevan Cellars out of Napa Valley, CA.
๐ท
Russell in my opinion is one of the most prolific figures in the wine industry and someone I've looked up to for so many years. Aside from his ability to make exceptional wines, he's also an incredibly charasmatic guy and was even responsible for encouraging me to learn more, or to get excited about wine when I was younger with his 2009 Bevan Ontogeny!
๐ท
I was also excited to get to conduct this interview in person while Russell was visiting South FL which could be a little nerve racking in similar scenarios, but after a simple meet and greet we were off to conversing and sharing in a simlar love and passion for wine as if we'd already been friends for so many years!
๐ท
In this episode Russell talks about so many things such as the importance of pairing food and wine and the ingredients of certain foods as it relates to the density and acids in his wines, and why these correlations are so important to his style of winemaking.
๐ท
Russell talks about canopy management, the importance of properly managing his vines and also how important monitoring his fermentations are up to bottling and distribution of each of his wines. With that being said, he also discusses the advantages of Pulsair and the benefits it has created for his wines since 2011.
๐ท
Russell also talk about what it was like to score the only 100 point in Napa Valley wine in 2011, what it meant to make exceptional wines in 2023 which he describes as a "legendary vintage", and some of the advantages to his portfolios whether his Sonoma Pinot's, or his Napa Valley Cabernet's with Bevan, i.e.
๐ท
Russell is a true inspiration in the wine industry and a guy I've looked up to for so many years so get ready for an in-person interview full of fun and excitment and all things encompassing the true passion and committment in the wine industry that Russell lives and breathes every day!

In Episode 143 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Josh Phelps, Owner and Winemaker of Grounded Wine Co. out of Napa Valley, CA.
๐ท
In this episode, Josh talks about his life growing up pursuing a career in entrepreneurship, his travels with family to various old-world wine regions, and how these experiences as a whole is really what sparked his interest in ultimately pursuing a career in wine.
๐ท
Josh talks about his various work in distribution with groups such as Chamber and Chambers and Kimberely Jones and also, what it meant to work havest production at Joel Gott and how that experience helped expand his understand of winemaking which ultimately enhanced his ability to be exceptionally great at selling wine.
๐ท
Josh talks about his father Chris Phelps, what Chris means to him and the wine industry as a whole, and how working with his father is so fulfilling and rewarding considering the wines they craft not only together but alsdo their personal projects as well.
๐ท
Josh talks about a brand he created early in his career called Taken and how the idea of Taken was to create wines that are incedible, but at an affordable price. Since then, Josh created his now brand Gounded in 2017 with the same concept in mind, crafting wines up and down the West Coast from Oregon and Washington State to the regions of Monterey, Santa Barbara, and Edna Valley.
๐ท
Josh also stresses the importance of sales and agrees that the making of wine can be challenging but the actual sales of wine is where it's at and fortunately through distribution channels early on like Kimberely Jones, was able to hone in on this skill to better prepare him for all the successes he had in store!

In Episode 142 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Flora Chang, Owner and Proprietor of Plinth Wines out of Pritchard Hill, CA.
๐ท
In this episode Flora talks about how a mere real estate investment in 2010 to purchase land on Pritchard Hill went from an interest in just owning land to becoming one of the biggest and most influential cult wine bands of our time!
๐ท
Before there was Plinth there was Nine Suns, a brand that Flora and her husband Jason originally created which was ultra-premium, site specific terroir driven wines focused entirely on curated relationships and storytelling with an emphasis on Jason's Chinese heritage.
๐ท
Later throughout the course of their journey in 2017 Plinth was born with the same storytelling emphasis, as a way to parallel outside of the Nine Suns estate model, not to dilute the reputation Nine Suns had created, as more of a side project originally.
๐ท
Soon after, through massive popularity Plinth would morph into its own identity around the time that Flora and Jason would decide to part ways and sell Nine Suns in 2022 to their close friends and colleagues at Realm Cellars.
๐ท
Flora talks about her love for Plinth, her aspirations for this brand and what she hopes to experience over this next chapter in her and Jason's life, and all the things she's been so thankful to accomplish over the past decade and beyond!

๐ท
In this episode Danny talks about his life growing up in the West Cotswold's of Oxford, England in a small village called Ducklington before eventually moving to the Silicone Valley and then Sonoma, CA at the age of 12.
๐ท
Danny talks about how his plan growing up was to pursue a degree in aviation but was eventually altered to enrolling in an agriculture class in pursuit of a business degree instead.
๐ท
Danny shares a funny story about the late Dr. Keith Patterson and Dr. Patterson's equational philosophy on wine and how that philosophy changed the trajectory of his life!
๐ท
Danny talks about his "Envolve"ment with Envolve Winery, and his time at Kanzler Vineyards as GM as the first non-family hire and what it meant for his career to be part of both of these brands.
๐ท
Danny also goes into great length to talk about his personal brand Hill of Tara, a reflection of his families history going back to Oxford, England.
๐ท
The Hill of Tara, being the most sacred land of Ireland at over 5,000 years old and ruled throughout history by over 142 kings was purchased by his great grandfather in 1928 before selling back to the country in 1974. Danny's family was the last private landowners of this historical place.
๐ท
In addition Danny talks about his wines being Cabernet or Cabernet Franc and a blend of both varietals and how his wines are so exclusive that he only makes up to 3 barrels of each wine and considers himself a micro winery if there's such a thing.
๐ท
Danny also talks about what it means to be a pat of Tor Wines in Napa Valley and his love for mentorship; what it meant to him growing up and what it also means for him to be a mentor to others as well.

๐ท
Steve was a previous podcast guest in Episode 31 and is part of a four interview lineup where I brought back a few amazing people for a new, fresh conversation as a soft launch for Season 4!
๐ท
In this episode Steve talks about his life growing up with both parents being born deaf and the advantages that created for him in terms of strength in communication and his personal and professional relationships throughout his life.
๐ท
Steve talked about how his pursuits of working in the stock market eventually led him to a job at the Italian Wine Merchant in NY where he fell in love with a 1986 Bartollo Mascarello Barolo and caught the bug to pursue wine even further.
๐ท
Steve talks about his time in Napa Valley starting off as wine ambassador facilitating wine tours and getting promoted to manager, where he would eventually meet his business partner for ARNYCA, Luis Pettinato.
๐ท
Steve of course talks about ARNYCA, the meaning behind the name, the bottles, and the labels; what it's like to own his own brand along with Luis since 2013; and also what it's like to have his one and only winemaker since the beginning, Mark Davis who I've also had the privilege of interviewing on the podcast back in episode 66.

๐ท

๐ท
Aaron goes on to talk about his time spent at Beringer Vineyards as International Flying Winemaker, and his time at Quintessa and even Blackbird Vineyards as a consultant, both of which thanks to Sarah Gott.
๐ท
Aaron talks about his personal brand Pott Wines, the place of Pott wines and its respect to the spirituality including its physical attributes of terroir, the exclusivity of his wines, and some of the meanings behind their names.
๐ท
Aaron also mentions how he loves the recent 2023 vintage and how he believes 2023 is not only top 5 vintages personally, but is arguably the best vintage of our lifetime!

What's up everyone and welcome back to the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, Season 4!! For those of you who have been here since the beginning of the podcast in 2018 I'd like to thank you for all the love and suppoort over the years! For those of you who are new, welcome to the podcast!
๐ท
The podcast is an interview with the winemaker or owner of a brand as they share their story and journey that got them to where they are today in the wine industry. It's also a converstaion about what they're doing now or working towards in wine, current or past vintages, and anything that has made a significant impact on their winemaking career.
๐ท
A few changes that you'll notice right away, new intro and outro as well as cover photo for the podcast. With a new season after 3 years, I felt like everything needed a refresh. One thing that will change however is there will be no more Wine Night Stands this season. Wine Night Stands were LIVE video segemnts that were repurposed as a piggy back off the actual wine reviews I did in correlation to the podcast release.
๐ท
This season will still feature LIVE wine reviews but since the podcast has come back after quite some time, I wanted to focus stictly on the interviews and not do Wine Night Stands. Not to say something similar won't be considered in the future but Season 4 is all about the actual interviews.
๐ท
Also, video content will be available on YouTube which you will find linked below and also though my social media channels. The video is HUGE because you'll actually get to see the conversation take place and all the emotion and dialogue that's associated and I can't wait to share that with you moving forward!

In Episode 89 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Bruce Neyers, Owner and Vintner for Neyers Vineyards out of the Pritchard Hill of Napa Valley, CA.
This is the 2nd half to my 2 part podcast with Bruce which was first aired on February 11th. If you haven't heard Episode 87, go back and check that out now so you'll be caught up and ready for today's episode.
This interview was amazing and it helps when the person you're interviewing is one of the most respected and iconic figures the wine industry has had the privilege of knowing, over nearly 50 years now!
In this episode Bruce shares the story of Neyers Vineyards and what it meant to create this brand back in the early 1990's and also those who inspired him to create this brand along the way.
Bruce also shares his experiences with Kermit Lynch for 27 years and his wine journal which you can find linked below. Bruce is huge on storytelling and paints such an incredible picture of the life of wine through stories which I know you're going to love!
These are just a couple of the things you're going to get to hear in today's episode as Bruce delivers in so many ways and provides an insurmountable amount of value in the process.
So sit back, relax, and get ready because you are going to love this episode!
Cheers

In Episode 88 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with my wife Jennifer Gallagher as we shared our thoughts on the Neyers Vineyards, 2017 Left Bank Red Blend out of the Pritchard Hill area of Napa Valley CA by Owner and Vintner, Bruce Neyers.
This segment was previously known as my "After Party Pick Of The Week" but after a conversation between Jennifer and I we decided to change the name to "Wine Night Stand, Where Anything Goes."
I used to promote Wine Night Stand's when I originally came up with the concept for my Pick of the Week but the meaning behind the name is to love and appreciate wines in the company of family and friends with no strings attached, and no reservations. This is exactly what you can come to expect in these epsiodes as I'm sure you're already aware if you've tuned in!
These epsiodes are completely off the cuff and full of so much energy and personality and it should come as no surprise that we've already had a little wine at this point.
If you ever have a quesion about wine, or one that pertains to this feature, simply jump on LIVE every Monday evening at 7 o'clock, PST @themrwineguy and we'll go over your question during the podcast. You can also submit questions ahead of time through DM.
Also, be sure to check back in this coming Tuesday for the second half of my conversation with Bruce, which you are not going to want to miss.
So sit back, relax, and get ready because you are going to love this episode!

In Episode 83 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of republishing my interview with Steven Kent Mirassou, a 6th generation winemaker who's family has been making wines for a little over 165 years and a guy who's family has pioneered the wine industry!
In this episode Steven talks about the viticultural excellence of Livermore Valley when considering weather, soils, sunshine and wind and how, when he originally got into the wine business back in 1996 he wanted to make 1 great wine from Livermore Valley, not just to be another guy making wine, but to stretch the envelope of people's recognition of the appellation they were in.
Steven talks about his favorite varietal being Cabernet Franc and how he thinks this varietal is the sexiest grape, describing it as sort of leaving this tension in the mouth while being very acid-driven, running under both generous fruit and an herbal mix.
Steven talks about Steven Kent Winery, Lineage Wine Company, and Rag Bag Wine Works and the privilege it is to be making these wines alongside his son Aidan, 7th generation winemaker of the Mirassou Family.
Steven talks about some of his biggest inspirations in the wine industry, 2 being Claude Bobba and Brad Buehler of Wente Vineyards and how these gentlemen inspired and educated him about a better understanding of the Livermore Valley. Also mentioned were Ehren Jordan of Failla Wines, and Steve Matthiasson of Matthiasson Wines.
Steven goes on to stress that it's not only people but appellations and wineries that inspire him as well; wineries such as Mount Eden Vineyards who Steven feels makes arguably the best Cabernet out of California, Ridge Vineyards, Spottswoode Estate, and appellations such as Sicily, Barolo, and Barbaresco.
Steven also goes on to share his ultimate goal in the wine industry and that is to make people happy and provide an experience for them that makes their life a little better than it was before they had a glass of his wine.
With that being said, Steven Kent Mirassou is truly a man whose heart goes way beyond his ability to make world class wines. Not only that, but Steven's energy in this podcast overflows with so much charisma, and so much enthusiasm, that from the first minute of this episode you know you're in for a treat.
Whether you're an aspiring winemaker, or just looking for a little motivation to get you through the day, this podcast is for you! So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.
Cheers

In Episode 83 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of republishing my interview with Tor Kenward, Owner and Proprietor of TOR Wines out of St. Helena, CA.
It's hard to know the best things to ask someone who has literally done so much and been at the forefront of so many monumental things in the wine industry but Tor sits down and shares some of those experiences and especially the people who have been such an influence on him over the years.
Tor talks about his experiences working at Beringer Vineyards for an incredible 27 years and what it meant to work alongside legendary winemaker Ed Sbragia during his tenure.
Of course Tor shares what it means to have his own brand TOR Wines since 2001 and the privilege it is to have winemaker's Jeff Ames and David Grega onboard crafting his wines.
Tor also shares his joy and appreciation for his wife Susan, what Susan means to him and all the ways she's inspired and motivated him over the course of their lives together.
Words can't explain how much I KNOW you're going to enjoy this epsiode but I think the one thing you'll take away more than anything is just how humble and charismatic Tor is.
Tor is constantly trying to inovate and push the envelope in everything he does as he continues to elevate his impact on not only people in the wine industry, but also people who love and appreciate the wine industry for eveything single thing it has to offer.
So sit back, relax, and get ready because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 82 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of republishing my interview with Peter Heitz, Winemaker for Shypoke Estate and Turnbull, out of the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley.
To suggest that Peter has been involved in the wine industry for quite some time would be an understatement. In fact, Peter's family was some of Napa Valley's original pioneers, settling in the Valley as early as 1896.
With that being said, Peter shares the story of his family and their immigration from Alsace France, and the privilege it is to be a 4th generation winemaker raised in Carneros.
Peter talks about his time at Beringer Vineyards working alongside winemaking legend Ed Sbragia, and Peter's personal brand Shypoke Estate where he's had the privilege of making wines alongside his wife Meg since 1996.
Peter of course shares the story of Turnbull, the inspiration behind the brand by Architect William Turnbull Jr. in 1978, and what it means to make Extraordinary wines for Turnbull scored by Robert Parker of Wine Advovate.
This podcast is full of so many things that are sure to educate you on the impact Turnbull is making in the wine industry, but I think it's also appropriate to point out Peter's personality and charisma for doing what he loves each and every day, which will also make an incredible impact on you as well.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 81 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of republishing my interview with David Tate, Winemaker for Barnett Vineyards and Vintner for Tate Wine out of Napa Valley, CA. This Episode was originally Episode 7 which aired July of 2018.
David's been making wine for quite some time now, but his journey really began years ago when he flew to Australia with nothing but change in his pocket and took a position in the wine industry in the Barossa Valley.
Since then, David's had the privilege of making wine in countries such as New Zealand and France, and currently makes wine in the Spring Mountain District of Napa Valley.
David talks about the privilege he has to be the winemaker for Barnett Vineyards since 2007, and how honored he is to be a part of the legacy that Hal and Fiona Barnett have created.
David talks about how he's known for making Merlot, considering he produces so much Cabernet Sauvigno,n and how he's bringing Merlot back so to speak, which I couldn't agree more!
David also talks about his love for mountain fruit, in particular Mount Veeder, and in particular his personal brand, Tate Wine.
One of the things I really enjoy about this episode is how David demonstrates such a willingness to do whatever it takes to make it in the wine industry. His resilience to be successful in all areas of his life including the wine industry really says a lot about him and the character David displays in all facets of his life.
I know for a fact that the value you are going to get from this episode is going to be huge so get ready because you are in for a treat! So sit back, relax, and get ready because you are going to love this episode!

In Episode 80 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of republishing my interview with Patrick Durbin, Vintner and Winemaker for Seabird Wines out of Napa Valley, CA. This Episode was originally Episode 56 which aired July of 2019.
In this episode Patrick and I talk about his wife Becky and how she's not only a person who has chaned his life, but how significant and instrumental she has been to the growth and success of the Seabird brand.
Patrick and I talk about what it's like to make his wines at The Wine Foundry and how The Wine Foundry makes it possible for so many people to create their own wines in a way that is best suited for their wants and needs.
Patrick and I also talk about how Seabird Wines is committed to giving back and they do so by contributing 100% of their profits and proceeds to non-profit organizations that protect our local coastline habitats.
With all this being said, I'm honored to have Patrick on the show today because of how much he is going to inspire and teach each and every one of YOU about what has made him as successful as he is today.
Patrick stresses the importance of how a right mindset, being humble, listening instead of speaking, not focusing on "how" things are going to turn out, and how enjoying the journey instead of focusing on the destinatiion have been pivotal to his overall success.
If you open your mind to all the possibilities that Patrick is going to illustrate to you today I can assure you that his mentorship alone will be paramount in motivating you to continue pursuing your purpose while embracing your journey in the process.

In Episode 79 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with my wife Jennifer Gallagher as we shared our thoughts on the William Cole Vineyards, 2009 Cuvee Claire Cabernet Sauvignon out of St. Helena, CA by Winemaker, Cole Ballentine.

In Episode 77 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Ryan Scott, Winemaker for Jack Simon Vineyards out of the San Diego County of Southern, CA.
In this episode Ryan shares his personal journey throughout the wine industry and how prior experiences at Witchcreek Winery and Carruth Cellars really propelled him to the level of success that he's achieved today.
With that being said, Ryan shares his experiences at Jack Simon Vineyards, what the Diskin family, owners of Jack Simon not only mean to him but also the surrounding community, and what it means to focus of Rhone and Iberian varietals while making wine for this brand.
Ryan shares the story of Jack Diskin, owner of Jack Simon Vineyards and just how charasmatic and impactful of a human being Jack is and how Jack's story is such a statement and testament of what being a leader and role model really is.
Ryan also shares the story of his interview with FOX5 San Diego and how he single handedly managed to open a bottle of wine on set without the use of a cork screw. This story is one that you are not going to want to miss!

In Episode 71 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with my wife Jennifer Gallagher as we shared our thoughts on the Smoking Gun Wines, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon out of St. Helena, CA by Winemaker, Cole Ballentine.
If you ever have a quesion about wine, or one that pertains to this feature, simply jump on LIVE every Monday evening at 7 o'clock, PST and we'll go over your question during the podcast. You can also submit questions ahead of time through Instaram DM.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 64 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Sam Pillsbury, Owner and Winemaker of Pillsbury Wine Company out of Wilcox, AZ.
I am so incedibly excited for this episode for a couple reasons, 1 because this was my first ever LIVE podcast interview, and 2 because this was the first time I've had an Arizona Winemaker on the show which means a lot to me because Arizona is where I live.
In this episode Sam talks about his previous career in the film industry directing and producing over 31 series TV dramas, network TV movies, cable movies, and feature films.
Sam talks about the privilege it is to make wines under his own personal brand Pillsbury Wine Company where he produces over 20 different wines, all from his 100 acre Wilcox Bench Vineyard in Cochise County, AZ.
Sam also shares what it meant to receive Winemaker of the Year in 2017 from the Scottsdale League of Arts and what it means having received nemerous awards for his wines over the years ranging from multiple Gold and Silver medals to even best in class.
These are just a few of the things you are going to get to hear in this podcast as Sam delivers in so many ways and brings such an incredible amount of value to the show through hard work, discipline, and a personality that won't take you long to find yourself captivated in!
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 62 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Scott Caraccioli, Winemaker and Director of Operations for Caraccioli Cellars out of the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey, California.
In this episode Scott talks about how it all began for Caraccioli Cellars back in 2006 and the privilege it was bringing on Michel Salgues, founding winemaker for Roederer Estate and arguably one of the best sparkling winemakers California has ever seen.
Scott talks about the benefits of making wines in the Highlands and how the substantial amounts of winds and early sunlight allow the grapes to perfectly ripen and develop, creating the mouth watering acidity they're really known for.
Scott goes on to talk about the Escolle Vineyard and how 100% of their fruit is planted to mostly Pinot Noir, as well as Chardonnay.
Scott also talks about the moment that put Caraccioli Cellars on the map in 2014 when their 2007 Brut Cuvee won #1 amongst 650 entries and over 16 countries represented at a blind tasting event judged by Champagne Guru and Decanter extraordinaire Tom Stevenson!
These are just a few of the things you'll get to hear in this podcast but I think the one thing you'll appreciate more than anything is Scott's willingness to focus on the right now and what he has to do each and every day to become better than he was the day before.
Scott could easily sit back and brag and boast about all his accomplishments but he's just not that kind of guy which is what i beleivemakes him a cut above the rest.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this epsiode.

In Episode 60 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the opportunity to sit down with Paul Colantuoni, Winemaker for Rocca Family Vineyards out of Napa Valley, CA.
In this episode Paul shares his love and passion for Old World wines and how fortunate he was to start his career in some of the most incredible wine regions in the world such as Tuscany and Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
Paul talks about what it was like to work for Bruce and Barbera Neyers at Neyers Vineyards in Pritchard Hill and the privilege it was to work alongside legendary winemaker Ehren Jordan.
Of course Paul shares the story of Rocca Vineyards and what it's like to work for Dr. Eric Grigsby and Mary Rocca who founded Rocca back in 1995.
Paul goes on to share what it was like to take over as Head Winemaker in 2008 from Celia Welch and how Celia put Rocca on the map back in 2002 with her Grigsby Cabernet which scored first place in both US and French blind tastings.
These are just a few of the things you're going to get to hear in this podcast but I think the one thing you'll appreciate more than anything is Paul's humble personality and his appreciation for everyone who has been an intrical part in getting him to where he is today.

In Episode 59 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with my wife Jennifer Gallagher as we shared our thoughts on the Maze Wines, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon out of the Stagecoach Vineyard of Napa Valley California by Vintner Paul McSharry.

In Episode 58 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Paul McSharry, Co-founder and Vintner of Maze Wine's out of Napa Valley, CA.
In this episode Paul shares the story of Maze Wines and how they started back in 2009 when Paul and his father Gerry met with legendary winemaker Mark Herold to pursue their passion and create a wine brand that could stand alongside anyone else in the industry.
Maze Wines has done just that and Paul goes on to talk about the inspiration his father developed for wine over the years while working in media and how that inspiration sequentially rubbed off on him as well.
Paul also shares what it means to have Mike Hirby onboard making his wines since the 2016 Vintage and how all of Maze Wines are 100% varietal aged in 100% French Oak.
With all things mentioned the one thing you're going to love about this podcast more than anything is Paul's willingness to go above and beyond for each and every person that invests in his brand.
Paul delivers on so many levels in this podcast and I can't wait for you to get to hear the whole story of how Maze started and what the future hold for this one of a kind brand.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because yo are going to love this episode.

In Episode 56 of the Mr.Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Patrick Durbin, Vintner and Winemaker for Seabird Wines out of Napa Valley, CA.

In Episode 54 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Michael Beaulac, Winemaker and General Manager of Pine Ridge Vineyards out of the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley.
In this episode Michael shares how he got started in the wine industry working for brands such as Murphy-Goode Winery, Markham Vineyards, and St. Supery before finally taking over as Winemaker and GM of Pine Ridge back in 2009.
With that being said, Michael shares what it was like taking over for Stacy Clark, winemaker for Pine Ridge from 1983-2008 and how his style of winemaking and team have truly eximplified the Pine Ridge that we know today over the past decade.
Considering everything mentioned, the one thing that I know you'll take away from this episide more than anything is just how passionate and convicted of a winemaker Michael Beaulac is.
Not only that but Michael's personality shines through in this episode and it doesn't take long for you to find yourself totally capivated in all the stories that he shares from his journey in the wine industry, to how Pine Ridge crafts their wines each and every vintage.
These are just a handful of the things you're going to love about this episode as Michael delivers in so many ways and provides an insurmountable amount of value to truly depict the kind of person and winemaker that he is.

In Episode 51 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Jean Hoefliger, Winemaker for Alpha Omega Winery, The Debate Wine, and Wine Consultant for The Unfiltered Collection.
In this epsiode Jean and I talk about his journey in the wine industry and how his career began in France at Chateau Lynch Bages of all places before heading to California to become Winemaker for Newton Vineyard.
Jean talks about his time at Alpha Omega Winery and what it means to work for Robin and Michelle Baggett, as well as what it means to consult and make wines for The Debate Wine, AXR Napa Valley, and Van Dyk Family Wines just to name a few.
Jean also talks about a passion project he started called Speratus Winery where he donates all its proceeds to fund scholarships to De La Salle High School for underprivileged children.
This project is not possible without the many people who have donated everything from bottles, corks, barrels and even the grapes to create these wines. As a result, Speratus has helped raise about 1 Million dollars.

In Episode 48 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with my wife Jennifer Gallagher as we shared our thoughts on the TOR Wines, 2016 Tierra Roja Cabernet Sauvignon out of the Oakville Hillside by Vintner Tor Kenward.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 47 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I have the privilege of sitting down with a LEGEND in the wine industry, Tor Kenward, Owner and Proprietor of TOR Wines out of St.

In Episode 45 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I have the privilege of sitting down with Stephen Hansel, Owner and Winemaker of Walter Hansel Winery out of the Russian River Valley of Sonoma, CA.
In this episode Stephen shares what it means to own and operate Walter Hansel Winery, everything his father Walter meant to him, and all the ways Walter inspired him over the years.
Stephen shares what it means to go above and beyond during tastings and tours at the property and how important it is to make sure every guest leaves feeling as if they just received the best winery experience they could have ever asked for.
Stepen shares his love and passion for Burgundy wines, how he focuses his wine making practices on this style of wine, and how legendary winemaker Tom Rochioli inspired him to pursue this passion that defines who he is today.
Stephen also talks about the Walter Hansel Wine and Bistro and what inspired him to create this bistro in the midst of making world-class wines in the Russian River Valley.
These are just a few of the things you'll get to hear in this podcast but I think the one thing you'll appreciate more than anything is Stephen's willingness to go above and beyond for each and every person he comes in contact with everyday.

In Episode 43 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the opportunity to sit down with Whitney Yates, Winemaker for Yates Family Vineyard out of the Mt. Veeder AVA of Napa Valley.
In this episode Whitney and I talk about her family's legacy through the years which dates back to 1950 making Yates Family Vineyard the oldest owned vineyard in Mt. Veeder for nearly 70 years now.
With that being said, Whitney talks about the history of the property, what it's like to be a "ghost winery," and her family's appreciation of place, being stewards of a land that's been handed down for decades.
Whitney talks about her father Mike Yates, his story in the wine industry, and what it's like to make wines along side him for a little over 15 years now.
Whitney also talks about what it's like to be a 2nd Generation Winemaker, a founding member of Vit Women, and also a member of Next Generation of Wine.
This epsiode is packed with so much history and a special sense of place that only Mt. Veeder can provide. With that being, this is an epsiode eximplifying a family who's hard work and charisma have been the single most important part to why they're as successful as they are today.
This is one of the things I know will resonate with you more than anything is how through hard work and committment, whatever YOU want to achieve in life can be done when you have the love and support of those that mean the most to you to back it up.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 41 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I have the privilege of sitting down and chatting with Steven Rogstad, winemaker for Cuvaison Estate Wines and Brandlin Vineyard, both out of Napa Valley, CA.
Steven is the inagural winemaker for Brandlin Vineyard since the 2003 vintage where he speacializes in Bordeaux style, mountain-driven Cabernet Sauvignon's.
Interestingly enough, Steven's speciality at Cuvaison Estate is much different where he's known for his ability to craft Chardonnay's and Pinot Noir. I think it's pretty safe to say Steven has the ability to make amazing wines with anything he puts his hands on.
In this episode, Steven talks about his time at Rombauer in the 1990's and what it was like overseeing the wineries custom crush program which included some pretty epic brands such as Dominus, Spottswoode Estate, and Duckhorn Vineyards.
Steven also talks about some of the people who have really inspired his career such as Ted Lemon and Kelly Maher, and the ways these men helped shape Steven into the winemaker he is today.
With that being said, I think this is a big part of what I love so much about this epsiode. Steven has every right to brag on his amazing career but it's with a very humble heart and unselfish persona that Steven shares the love and wealth with all the people who've helped prepel him to where he is today.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 39 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Karen Crouse, Owner and Vintner of Mount Veeder Magic Vineyards out of the Mount Veeder AVA of Napa Valley.
In this episode Karen talks about a unique service she provides where she helps clients create their own custom wine. Within this service clients purchase the wine, bottles, labels, capsules, and corks through Karen's personable, consultative services.
This gives her clients an opportunity to create a wine that represents them and everything they stand for, and also gives them an opportunity to live vicariously through the eyes of a Vintner.
Karen talks about Jeff Fontanella and what it means to have him on board as winemaker and Jeff's ability to craft incredible mountain driven wines such as hers.
Karen also talks about what it's like to be a board member for the Mount Veeder AVA council and what it means to help spread the word and support local vintners within her community.
With everyhing being said, the one thing you're going to LOVE more than anything in this podcast is Karen's personality and charisma throughout the entire interview. Karen is such an incredible human being and it won't take you long to love and appreciate her just as much as everyone else does.
So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode.

In Episode 38 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I have the privilege of sitting down with Peter Heitz, Winemaker for Shypoke Estate and Turnbull, out of the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley.

In Episode 37 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, I have the privilege of sitting down with Violet Grgich and Ivo Jeramaz, President and Winemaker for Grgich Hills Estate out of Rutherford, CA.
In this episode Violet and Ivo share stories about family, what it means to wear many hats in the wine industry, and what makes them so much more different than other wine brands throughout Napa Valley.
Violet shares an in-depth conversation about her father Mike Grgich who is arguably one of the most impactful and influential people the wine industry has ever seen and how her father single-handedly put California on the map in 1976 at the Judgement of Paris wine tasting beating out all the other competators in his category.
Violet and Ivo also talk about Austin Hills, what he means to their family and what Austin has done for the legacy of Grgich Hills Estate as we know it today.
If there's one thing that I think will resonate with you more than anything in this podcast it's family and how through the strength of family what it means to stay committed to what you believe in no matter what you have to do, or how long it takes you to reach your goals and dreams.
