He’s going from sex symbol to bat symbol. Sources tell Variety that Robert Pattinson is in negotiations to play “The Batman” in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming superhero film, which hits theaters June 25, 2021.

While sources say it’s not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly. Warner Bros. had no comment.

There are a lot of rappers with "lil" in their name, so what better way to discuss it then to quiz each other on who is who.

Rappers putting "Lil" at the beginning on their names is so prevalent that it's often become a point of parody for those seeking to make fun of rap music. Some rappers opt to shed their "Lil" moniker once they get older, like Bow Wow for instance. Whatever the reasons for the prevalence of the "Lil" prefix, it's become an central piece of rap culture.

With the birth of Soundcloud era of rap, the amount of "Lil" rappers in the world appears to have grown significantly. According to popular music streaming service, Spotify, 33 of the top 1000 songs of 2018 have been by or featured a "Lil" artist. This marks a 106% increase over last year, and an insane 725% increase over 2016.

In an interesting piece of data analysis, Spotify listed the top 200 "Lil" rappers currently on the platform. While that may seem like a lot, this is only a small piece of the over 8000 artists with "Lil" in their name that have music streaming on the platform.

Thank you for listening to the Geek Vs podcast, a nerd's eye view of pop culture. We're back from Dragon Con 2018 and wanted to reflect on a fun year and let everyone know if we found that pie bar. What were some of your favorite events from this years Dragon Con?

Dragon Con (previously Dragon*Con and sometimes DragonCon) is a North American multigenre convention, founded in 1987, which takes place annually over the Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. As of 2017, the convention draws attendance of over 80,000, features hundreds of guests, encompasses five hotels in the Peachtree Center neighborhood of downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park, and runs thousands of hours of programming for fans of science fiction, fantasy, comic books, and other elements of fan culture. It is operated by a private for-profit corporation, with the help of a 1,500-member volunteer staff.

Ever have something in a movie that scares you, but it's not really supposed to? We're not talking about scary movies, but things in non-scary movies that really creep us out for some reason.  For example, an otherwise fun and colorful movie like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" really scared Betty for some reason, and we can't blame her.  So we discuss that, and more creepy movie moments in this weeks episode of the Geek Vs podcast.

We just got back Atlanta Comic Con, and San Diego Comic Con is wrapping up so we wanted to chat a little bit about the different comic book conventions and what they all mean. Comic-cons were traditionally organized by fans on a not-for-profit basis, though nowadays most events catering to fans are run by commercial interests for profit. Many conventions have award presentations relating to comics (such as the Eisner Awards, which have been presented at San Diego Comic-Con International since 1988; or the Harvey Awards, which have been presented at a variety of venues also since 1988).

At commercial events, comic book creators often give out autographs to the fans, sometimes in exchange for a flat appearance fee, and sometimes may draw illustrations for a per-item fee. Commercial conventions are usually quite expensive and are hosted in hotels. This represents a change in comic book conventions, which traditionally were more oriented toward comic books as a mode of literature, and maintained a less caste-like differentiation between professional and fan.

The first official comic book convention was held in 1964 in New York City and was called New York Comicon. Early conventions were small affairs, usually organized by local enthusiasts (such as Jerry Bails, later known as the "Father of Comic Fandom", and Dave Kaler of the Academy of Comic-Book Fans and Collectors), and featuring a handful of industry guests. The first recurring conventions were the Detroit Triple Fan Fair, which ran from 1965–1978, and Academy Con, which ran from 1965–1967. Many recurring conventions begin as single-day events in small venues, which as they grow more popular expand to two days, or even three or more every year. Many comic-cons which had their start in church basements or union halls now fill convention centers in major cities.

In part two of Regrettable Villains we discuss Animal, Vegetable, Mineral Man, He-She, MODOK and more.

Every hero needs a villain. But not every villain comes with a cool costume, sinister pseudonym, or functioning death ray. Some super-crooks are incompetent, some are comical, and some are just . . . weird. In this follow-up to The League of Regrettable Superheroes, author Jon Morris presents over a hundred of the strangest, most stupefying supervillains ever to grace the pages of comics. Meet D-list desperados like Brickbat (choice of weapon: poisonous bricks), Swarm (a crook made of bees; Nazi bees), Robbing Hood (steals from the poor to give to the rich), plus a surprising number of law-breaking apes. Drawing on the entire history of the medium, The Legion of Regrettable Supervillains affectionately and hilariously profiles the oddeset oddballs in comic book history.

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in New York City,[1]the service allows subscribers to purchase a single movie ticket per day for a flat subscription fee per month. Team work makes the dream work this week as all three of us decided to watch different new Netflix shows, so we get together and talk about what we saw, and what we recommend.

Cloverfield Paradox A crew aboard a space station finds itself alone after a scientific experiment causes the Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station's crew must determine if it is carrying friends or foes.

Altered Carbon More than 300 years in the future, society has been transformed by new technology, leading to human bodies being interchangeable and death no longer being permanent. Takeshi Kovacs is the only surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned for centuries until impossibly wealthy businessman Laurens Bancroft offers him the chance to live again. Kovacs will have to do something for Bancroft, though, if he wants to be resurrected. Bancroft's request of Kovacs is to solve a murder -- Bancroft's. "Altered Carbon" is based on Richard K. Morgan's cyberpunk noir novel of the same name.

Devilman Crybaby Akira's best friend tells him that ancient demons have returned to take back the world from humans and suggests that he unite with a demon. Akira successfully does that, transforming into Devilman, a being with a demon's powers but who retains the soul of a human. This sends Akira into a brutal, degenerate war against evil. With fear of demons gripping the world, humanity devolves into paranoia and violence and Akira sets out to save other demon-human hybrids like himself.

The Golden Raspberry Awards (also known in short terms as Razzies and Razzie Awards) is a mock award in recognition of the worst in film. Co-founded by UCLA film graduates and film-industry veterans, John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy, the annual Razzie Awards ceremony in Los Angeles precedes the corresponding Academy Awards ceremony by one day. The term raspberry in the name is used in its irreverent sense, as in "blowing a raspberry". The awards themselves are in the form of a "golf ball-sized raspberry" which sits atop a Super 8 mm film reel, the whole of which is spray painted gold.

The first Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony was held on March 31, 1981, at John J. B. Wilson's living-room alcove in Los Angeles, to honor the worst in film of the 1980 film season. The 38th ceremony will be held on March 3, 2018.
