Success means different things to different people. But there are a few guidelines that one can follow to achieve one's goals

About the Author:
The author, Sapan Bardhan is a veteran professional with a degree in Engineering and more than 45 years of enriched experience in various industries. He has professional qualifications in Total Quality Management with training in the USA and Japan. The first phase of his professional career was in SAIL - Bhilai Steel Plant, later he moved to a large-scale Pvt. Steel Industry. He is also associated with Social & Spiritual organizations like Ramakrishna Mission, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Mahavir International, and Brahma Kumaris.
About the Book:
Why this Book may Change Your Life! What does success mean to you? To some, success is wealth; for some, it is power; some just want to make a positive impact on the world. This simply means that success is a concept that means different things to different people. No matter what success means to you, it almost certainly isn’t something that will come easily. There are numerous books in the market on how to be successful. But success is very personal and unique to each individual. Though some of these numerous books can be definitely useful to some readers, the advice contained in most of these books may often be very generic in nature and at times, irrelevant to most of the readers. With this in mind, before initiating the book, the author has taken a tremendous and sincere effort of talking to more than three hundred people, just to understand ‘what exactly did they want from such a book’? These candidates, both men, and women come from different age groups and different backgrounds - academics, economic, cultural, and geographic backgrounds.
The author has effectively blended his own vast professional and social experience along with the inputs of all these three hundred people that he talked to. The author’s own life journey has been full of ups and downs. So he could very well relate to the needs of the prospective readers.
Living an inclusive life is all that everyone is asking for. I am no one to talk about disability and the day-to-day struggle that disabled people have to face. So I asked Sweta Mantri to share her journey on the podcast.
Episode 14 is a conversation with Sweta Mantri who is a standup comic. We also converse about the psychological and physical trauma that a person has to go through and how difficult it is to find that silver lining that everyone talks about when everything seems to be going south.
Sweta Mantri was asked to be an accountant but instead, she decided to hold people accountable for their lack of knowledge on disability access and have a dialogue with them. She is a standup comedian and believes in revolutionizing the comedy scene and changing the mindset of the people one joke at a time! Though there have been times when people have not received the jokes well, that has not stopped her from putting the point across. She believes that the more disability is treated as a taboo topic, the more people will be uncomfortable discussing it. And it is important to change the thought process of the people and to make them a little more mindful about creating a barrier-free life for all

....We pretended that all of this was a myth. That we had neither fallopian tubes, nor menstrual cycles, nor breasts, nor moods, nor children. And then we took it as a compliment when one of the men in the office told us we had balls. So, tell us again how this wasn’t a man’s world.”

We are but a culmination of our decisions. Every tiny choice that we made has shaped us into what we are today.
Episode 19 is a conversation with Aishwarya Vivek about her life, the decisions that she took, and her journey to becoming a wife, a mother, and a soft skills trainer. Each and every choice that she made has been detrimental in bringing her closer to her goals. We spoke about arranged marriages, the concept of the one, how research helped her a lot with her journey to motherhood and life in general, and finally making her passion into her profession. Not only the external factors, but we also touched upon how our psyche has changed over a period of time and how the pursuit of perfection is a futile dream.
I hope this conversation brings light to anyone who is asking these questions to themselves. I don't know if we have all the answers but this episode can definitely make sure that you don't feel alone.

We are moving more and more towards technology. But the emotions that are poured into writing a handwritten note or a letter cannot be replicated in an email.
Handwriting is directly connected to our subconscious, the environment we are in, the people we surround ourselves with, all contribute to the way we write or emote things on paper.
Episode 18 is a conversation with Namita Joshi who is the founder of Aatman Graphology.
What is Graphology?
Graphology is commonly known as handwriting analysis, which helps decipher your underlying psyche based on your handwriting.
Aatman began in 2011 as a hobby activity on weekends, but it soon became a contagious and overpowering passion for all those involved. This had a snowball effect which in turn led to a growing community of graphologists, trained rigorously in an autonomous and customized knowledge base and skill set influenced by international best practices.
The founder Namita Joshi is a Psychology graduate, with a Masters in Education & Democracy (2008), UK, and a Masters in Public Policy (2016). She has been a passionate student of Graphology since 2002 and has earned international experience in the subject through her memberships and networks with the British Institute of Graphologists and the British Psychological Society (BPS). Her specialization in democratic practices within education has kept her engaged with other networks such as the International Democratic Education Network (IDEN), UK and the Social Pedagogy Development Network (SPDN), UK.

I love visiting new places. It gives me a sense of awe as to how different cultures left their mark on the city for all of us to admire. The intricacies in the stonework, the magnanimous buildings seem to be hiding stories within them that are just ready to unfold.
But the best kind of travel is when you move towards nature. It humbles you. You realize that you are but a tiny entity in this world full of beauty. It is where you can truly find yourself.
Episode 17 is a conversation with the founders of GET BEYOND LIMITS. Ishan Sharma and Salwat Hamrah and their love for travel came together to form this travel company. It has been six years since they started it and they believe that they have evolved as people and also as a company since it’s genesis. They both believe in the phrase GET BEYOND LIMITS and that is quite evident in their travelogue called “SPEEDBREAKERS”, in which they traverse a span of about 6607 km on a bike for 25 days, just to attend a friend’s wedding!!
Since they didn’t have a mentor when they started out, they have made sure that they impart their knowledge in the form of a compilation of stories that talk about their struggles and how they overcame them. I hope it helps someone who is just starting out and is worried about being UNSETTLED.

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.” ― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
The same happens when I watch a movie or a web series that touches my soul. I wish that it had never ended. So, I decided to get in touch with a writer and make him a terrific friend of mine.
Episode 16 is a conversation with Niranjan Parandkar about his journey of finding his calling for writing. He is a self-trained writer and he believes that the best way to learn anything is to just jump into it. He is also a professor and he loves to impart his knowledge to the younger generation.

There is no age to realize your passion and follow it.
Episode 15 is a conversation with Sharib Hashmi. He discovered his love for acting very early in life but was hesitant to pursue it because he thought he didn't fit the bill to be one. But he finally got out of his shell and decided to pursue acting full time! Even though he had full support from his family, he had to struggle a lot to land his first role in Jab tak hai Jaan and Filmistaan. When he did find a breakthrough, there was no turning back. He has worked in movies and web series and now he is a name that no one can forget.
He is a sweet and kind gentleman who will go out of the way to make you feel like you are a part of his family and I had a blast interacting with him in this episode.

Conversations are what keep us alive. And what is a better excuse than bonding over a cup of coffee?
Episode 14 is a conversation with Shivam Mantri, Neha Kabra, and Shefali Kataria. They felt that their city was missing a place where people could come together, interact, share ideas, or just spend some time together over a cup of coffee. That is how 3 Brick Lane Cafe was born. Thankfully their families were on board and the journey from the ideation to the execution didn't take long. Within a short span of time, the cafe came to be known for its extraordinary experimental dishes and also for the various artists that come there to perform. The three founders themselves are huge goofballs of energy and I'm sure they add to the ambiance by just being present there.
Shivam Mantri is an architect who is currently assisting his father on Residential and Commercial projects,
Neha Kabra runs her own sustainable clothing brand called Maati:

Our life is a story in motion. Each moment is manifesting into the next story. And that is what is keeping us sane during this lockdown. The coronavirus has brought us closer and given us time to indulge in a bit of nostalgia and share stories of our lives with our loved ones. But there are some people who went above and beyond and created a magical reality.
Episode 13 is a conversation with Vikram Sridhar. He is a storyteller by profession?
What does a storyteller do you may ask?
He delves deep into history, finds folklore that has been forgotten, and narrates them in a way that engages his audience.
Is it only for children?
No, his stories are for young and old alike.
Does he write his own stories?
Well....to find that out, you will have to listen to the entire episode wouldn't you?
But let me tell you a small tale about today's guest and his journey:
Vikram is an Engineer and has completed his MBA. He discovered his love for storytelling when he was asked to perform for a group of children once and hasn't looked back ever since. He is an independent artist. He has also been a part of an NGO that rescues animals and that is where he gets his inspiration for most of his stories. He believes that every story can have a dual meaning, a moral for the children, and a lesson for us adults. He is a co-founder of the theatre group Tahatto, a founding member of the Bengaluru storytelling festival and a founder member of Dum Dama Dum, Children's theatre and reading festival

It is something we can't live without as kids and it is the only thing that we cheat with as adults. A magical creation that is brought to life by a Baker.

The flats, the bungalows the apartments that you live in. Your workplace, your parks and the cafes that you go on dates in. The gyms where you workout, the dance classes where you sweat out, all the spaces around you that are man-made are designed by an Architect.

She talks about her journey of setting up her own practice, the struggles of convincing a client, and the struggles she had to face to just find a footing in this ever-competitive world are some of our conversation topics. The climate is changing day by day. The mindless use of resources available and our refusal to clean up the mess behind us has caused damage to the climate that might just be irrevocable if we don't take steps to mend our ways soon.
Episode 5 is a conversation with Pooja Tendulkar, who is an environmentalist and has provided environment-friendly water treatment solutions. She stumbled upon Duckweed that helps in cleaning up the water in a natural way. After Duckweed has extra nutrients in the water it can act as fodder for cattle as it is rich in protein.
We had a conversation on the kind of water treatment plants that her firm Lemnion Green Solutions provides. We also spoke about the kind of impact her projects have on the social front. Saras Baug is an excellent example of a social project that she has partaken in.
She also tells us what SETTLED means to her.
I am sure that this episode too will give you an insight into a different career path that also happens to be the need of the hour.

Stand-up comedy is a part and parcel of our lives. Our morning routine is incomplete without a dose of laughter from our favourite comics.
Episode 4 is a conversation of Paul Rupen who talks about the struggles of being a stand-up comic. Rupen Paul is a South Indian who did not do engineering, not because he was too cool to follow the crowd but mainly because he did not get enough marks. His jokes can find him making fun of the absurdities and oddities of life as experienced by people growing in a middle-class home. He is the winner of the 2014 Comedy Open Mic organized by Big Mic and has performed shows across the country. He considers himself a funny yet grumpy man who has quit his job to pursue a career in making people laugh at his failures.

Learning a language is a tedious task. Remember how we were scored for all the essay questions during our school days?
And how we used to be penalized if we spoke in our Mother Tongue during school hours. I used to be scared of my teachers. But because of them, I am able to speak a language that was foreign to me, with ease.
Episode 3 is a conversation with Anaya Mundley about her journey of learning German. The research that went into choosing the right academy, her leap of faith into the unknown and the scope that learning a foreign language offers.
Unsettling brings to you stories of individuals who have redefined the definition of settled and are following a path that they have created for themselves.
What do I do after engineering? Is masters the answer? If yes, which field do I choose to do the masters in? All these questions and more are answered in this episode of the podcast.
