Unity in Christ is granted through Him and for Him, to that end, we seek practical unity among one another. The history of racism in our country has evolved into narratives that have been created out of thin air in order to justify hatred that inherently dwells in our hearts. What does the response to racism, hatred, evil look like in the children of God outside of the US? This is the story of Rose Mapendo, a survivor of the Rwandan/DRC genocide and a sister in Christ.
Her story is gut-wrenching yet her faith is encouraging and convicting. Trapped in prison camp awaiting execution, the Lord did for her what He does for all of His children - he strengthened her with a peace that will surpass your very understanding of peace. It will also confound your understanding of forgiveness in a way that could truly bring healing, peace and revival to our country amidst the cold war of race-rhetoric and "injustice" claims.
Listen closely to the raw, uncut story of a woman who depended on the Lord and was granted a strength that only He could provide.

Dr. Krista Bontrager, the Theology Mom and full-time ministry partner at the Center for Biblical Unity, joins me to dive into a discussion that we will probably need to have generation after generation because of how pervasive the lies of liberation theology are currently within our traditional ideologies. Why does the church seem so divided over the Christian profession? Why do so many professing Christians seem to adopt worldly philosophies under the guise of "justice"?

Why does it seems that more and more Christians are being persuaded to join in with mockers and scoffers? There are far greater reasons Christians ought to seek the truth. Those reasons don't involve cracking a conspiracy case. It involves being prepared to discern against deceptions far greater. Paul, in Ephesians 6, highlights an aspect of the Christians armor against spiritual warfare - the belt of truth. Being fastened with truth doesn't mean you've picked a particual side in any given argument. It does however mean that you won't be assigned a side by mockers who dare you to continue to seek what is true.
In this episode, I (Brandon) address the reason why it seems like I'm defending Candace Owens so fervently. I breakdown the fallacy of dismissing someone merely because you've been told to dismiss them. Also, are people being genuine regarding their critiques of Candace? Tell me your thoughts!

Though we eventually get to the crux of the conversation (Minute 50), we began our episode reflecting on the last 200 episodes of Black and Blurred and how this podcast started. We also reflected on the ministry of Pastor Voddie Baucham and his influence on many believers today.
In the latter half of this lengthy episode, we dive into the banter around Candace Owens, her work and the slander towards her that seems to just roll off of the lips of those who have no connection to her. How should Christians view the work of someone like Candace Owens? Is she a psyop? Is she a liar? Is she out to make money off of gossip and confusion? How should Christians think about these "conspiracy theories" in general? Is there a place in the Christian mind for entertaining the possibility of such great deception? Walk with us and hear our thoughts on why you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss those the world tells you to.

What does the Christian do when the world doesn't realize there is a spiritual enemy amongst us? We warn of the danger and proclaim Christ's victory from the rooftops!
There is much to have grief over: the death of a brother for standing on the truth, the slander and scoffing that his family received in the wake of the tragedy, and the very obvious divide between groups of people who all claim to follow and pledge allegiance to Jesus Christ. How do we recover? We die. Christian, you were left on this earth to die. Jesus, from His own mouth, defined what it meant to follow Him (Matt 16). It is time the American church no longer be a glorified soup kitchen but an outpost of Heaven where darkness can't hide. Love, protect, shepherd, have compassion and seek the face of the Lord together. Charlie Kirk will be called many names. On this episode, we call him a dragon slayer. Let us join him.

There seemed to be much momentum as Trump announced his 3rd run for presidency. Many scandals had taken place and been forgotten: Russia Gate, Election Gate, Assassination Gate...etc. Even more, culturally, we descended into a place humanity had never been historically. Women were no longer women, but men could compete against them, also, men could become women so long as we admit there is no such thing as a woman. Christians defended these things and churches were split. All of this was taking place underneath the surface level culture divide of ethnic hatred and so on.
Today, some momentum seems to have been lost. There is ethnic fatigue, there is Trump fatigue, there is feminism fatigue, there is church fatigue...what is going on?!
So, Brandon and Daren ask the question, "where are we now"? What does social media reveal to us as we peruse the internet to see where American culture is today? This is quite possibly a bold task, but a task worth completing. Tell us what you think below!

There is something that every shepherd ought to have buried in his heart - a desire to protect. Before we even discuss the ability to protect proficiently, it must start with a desire. The fallout from the MLK episodes left a lasting scar. Genuine astonishment took place at the flippant responses people made to MLK's alleged sexual assault. This ought to make us think - "am I willing to protect a predator as long as I think highly of him/her?".
Is this something the church has been doing for a long time? Who in the Lord's church, will stand and call her to task? We are to be sober-minded, impartial and to have righteous judgment. This episode is for you, listener. May we all be examined by the Lord and may He remove from within us anything that would contribute to predator curation.
There are voices behind abuse. We will listen to three of them. I want us to think of these voices when we flippantly look to defend someone merely because of their status.

If there is one thing that has been exposed through our hyper-politicized climate over the past decade, it has been the political and ethnic idolatry that is deeply rooted in our society. One of those idols is erected in what is colloquially called, 'The Black Church".
Brandon calls it "bibliocentric, ethnic Theism". However, boiled down to the core it is idolatry and it is disheartening to see how many don't recognize it. Pastors like Jamal Bryant, who was run out of Baltimore, spend their time behind the Lord's pulpit rallying people toward hatred and covetousness. We set up a live stream to discuss it all and interacted with some listeners live while we analyzed some videos surrounding this issue.

In today's political climate, the American church, depending on who you speak with, is on the brink of a moral relapse or on the brink of a golden age. How did we get to such an impasse amongst Christians? Is DOGE that big a deal for Christians and their convictions? Where were those convictions the last 4 years? Are conservative Christians heartless for lacking sympathy for their neighbors affected by these grand changes?
Have we gone too far with our allegiance to government? Have we neglected the deep implications of what it means to be the (C)hurch? How does a Christian live in this new era of American history where there are both things to celebrate and mourn?
As we navigate these waters, Christians are reminded to revert back to their profession. This profession can be summed up into two words - believing loyalty. This loyalty belongs to God and only to God. It doesn't belong to democrats nor to republicans. Not to Trump. Nor to Obama, Biden, Clinton etc.
However, when this loyalty is lived out, there will be uncompromisable principles we, as Christians are called to stand firm in. And you should never move one inch on those principles...for anyone. How should we wade these waters faithfully rather than gleefully with bitter vengeance in our hearts toward our neighbors? Maybe Brandon will address some of this. Are we allowed to talk about marginalization and white Christians in the same breath? Is that really a thing? Do white-American Christians feel the pressure of the growing racial tension between ethnic subcultures in the country? Are they allowed to ask questions about it? Are Daren and Brandon, as black men, allowed to care?
Instead of asking these questions to the culture, the Christian ought to turn to scripture and the answers would be obvious. Though Daren and Brandon may be called uncle toms, coons and the other things...we're not under constant threat of being labeled a racist - a tension our white brothers and sisters are constantly experiencing.
This is UNDOUBETLDY a contentious conversation and we don't care. We brought on an OG listener, Alissa Hollander, who is a sister in Christ and is becoming a good friend to discuss the growing difficulties of being a white-American who loves the Lord...and isn't racist.

This is our first episode discussing the President elect, Donald J. Trump. Unfortunately, things seem to be going the exact way it went 8 years ago. We don't know if we have it in us to do the conservative apologetics that we did 4 years ago around the beginning of our podcast. What does a Christian have to do with politics? It is a good thing to vote based on (biblical) convictions. However, there is no human that can thwart the plans of God and it is necessary to remember this.
Trump, in his first 100 days has made ultra conservative moves and has dialed back the sexual revolutions indoctrinating schemes within government. We're rejoicing over this. But what about things like USAID and other Government cutbacks? Whey are so many people upset and burning with anger over this? We've received messages about MLK and about Trump...here is our response.

This conversation gets pushed to the back of the bus (pun intended) far too often and it doesn't force us to confront a very, prolific name in American history. Even more - because of our silence, the tradition of his conjecture, oration and false theology continues to entrap many Americans in the most dangerous snare ever.

Did you know that the entire LGBTQIA2S+ movement is built on deception and lies? No...really. Why don't more Christians seem to care? Why are more and more Christian placating to the world? Maybe, if your context is anything like ours, you've heard something like:
"You can be a Christian and gay!" or "Sure, its ok to go to a gay wedding!" or "I just use the pronouns because it is loving our neighbor". Wherever I turn, I see more and more Christians wanting to blend in with the way things are while simultaneously falling in disdain with early church history, biblical doctrine and a true pursuit of Jesus. Where are we headed? Why is the bride of Christ bending the knee to things that we are warned about time and time again throughout scripture. Jesus has called His followers to carry a cross. Our lives can be enjoyable...but there WILL be hardship for the true follower of Jesus. We pray that you are encouraged to stand firm and not deny Him the way the world commands you to.

American society is unhinged and absent masculinity is a symptom of our estranged relationship with God. Something that has been missing in the evangelical church is the worship of God for manhood. We walk on egg shells discussing masculinity because we've bought into the lie that manhood and womanhood is about us rather than the Lord. We live move and have our being in Him. So, we ought to preach relentlessly about biblical masculinity because faithful men glorify the Lord. Also, we ought to take heart in the fact that Jesus is a man. How would you define the 'Black Church'. Is there such a thing, biblically? The title has been used over and over throughout history and we are realizing just how divisive it is. The 'Black Church' is to be distinguished from Christians who are black. The black church is a politicized and secularized segment of black Americans who see Christian faith merely as a cultural aspect of their greater identity - blackness. In this church, Jesus is not Lord but a mascot of the culture and following after Him is not a priority. We look at the many diverging faith leaders today within the 'black church' and connect their apostacy with the natural trajectory of the historical black church. If Brandon could tell the story, the 'black church' is a synagogue of Satan.

We felt that it was necessary for us to give a little mid evening slap in the face for us to keep our eyes open. The next major national issue is on the cusp of its typical divisive strategy and in a country where the Church seems more reactive than proactive - we felt it necessary to get ahead of the curve. Whatever the next issue is, the tactics of the enemy is to eliminate from our homes, our communities, and our churches men. I don't just mean men in biology...but men whose identity is founded on the ultimate man - Jesus Christ. Men whose convictions are lead them toward protection and sacrifice; men who would find it no less than an honor to die beside their King. These are dangerous men...who are good. It is this class of manhood that is ultimately under attack. Even though we aren't at each other's throats per se over a specific issue right now...it is coming. The church will need men who are willing to wage war against the darkness through leadership, faithful preaching and daily dying. This is what the enemy hates.

Finishing up our series on Biblical Manhood, we had a live episode with some audience interactions. We go through the highlights from the series and engage some good questions listeners had during the episode or throughout the series. If there is one takeaway from this series it is this - a society's flourishing or destruction will have men at its helm.
In the conclusion of our series on manhood, we finish discussing fatherhood and the tragic realities that our cities have been left in due to the lack of two-parent homes and men who commit to their families. Politics play a role in all of this. Who you vote for may have a bigger part to play on our fatherless society than you may think.
Throughout the history of the country, fathers have been a staple of a healthy society. Fatherlessness is the antithesis. When we look around and we see society crumbling, we need to look at our homes. Before we point the finger of blame too fast, there is much at play when it comes to the tragedy of fatherlessness today. Today, we dive deep into the realities and causes of fatherless homes in our society and especially in black American homes.
There have been movies that have changed faces and have led to subsequent outcries. Is this something really worth being upset over? IS this something to bat an eye at? The new actress cats as Arielle (Halle Bailey) is caught in the crossfire of heated debate surrounding the new look Little Mermaid and we believe that both sides have thoughts to reconsider. How should we view Hollywood's take on 'representation' in film? How should we view diversity hires in general? We give our two cents...
Daren is going out of town so you'll have to wait for our last installment of the Biblically Manhood series for once he is back. Until then...we sat and had a candid conversation about some of what was discussed during the previous episode. What are some things we missed? We try and recollect some poisonous thoughts about manhood that is pervasive in society. Also, is there REALLY a such thing as manhood that is toxic? Our answer would shock you.
We hand the reins to our boy Joey Perez to walk us through some examples that are far too often presented to men as healthy examples of manhood. Charles Spurgeon once said, "Discernment is not knowing the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Discernment is knowing the difference between what is right and what is 'almost' right". Let's look at some "almost right" examples of manhood that plagues the minds of men today.

Brandon found himself in the comment section of a post that was sent to him regarding sexual abuse in the catholic church. He responded to a comment from a former chirstian who ridiculed the church for being pro-life yet silent on the topic of sexual abuse. More comments insued and we had to bring the conversation to the podcast. We talk leaving the church, issues with scripture and morality in a godless world.
We sit with Constance Troutman, writer at Truth and Fire Blog who also appeared in the American Gospel series. We discuss coming out of cultural Christianity and the toxic teachings that have plagued majority black churches and still plague them today.
We finally round out our gaslight series with COVID. There is so much to say about the last 3 years. I think the one word that sums up our experience is gaslighting: "Wear masks!"..."don't wear masks"..."don't take the vaccine"...."take the vaccine." "We care about safety"...."don't listen to doctors who can help". When does the gaslighting end?? The worst part: the church fought itself rather than be a lighthouse for the world. Black History Month has happened every February since 1976. Something that began as a result of Carter G. Woodson's desire to recognize neglected aspects of American history seems to have become another weapon of identity-politics in our polarized climate. Does black history month contribute to race relations in our country? Does all black history matter? Have we adopted MLK's principle of judgement based upon character rather than skin color? However, the term minority seems to almost exclusively be reserved for Black Americans in the conversations of race relations. In this episode, we are joined by Pastor Eric So and Planting Pastor Resident, Danny Chung - two 2nd Gen Korean Americans who offer their perspective on what it is like to be on the fringe of the conversation of minorities and how the Black Lives Matter movement requires a deeper conversation with parents and family members who owned shops in black neighborhoods.
