Monroe Althouse, Berks County's very own March King, wrote a March entitled Penn Wheelman in honor of the Penn Wheelman Bicycle Club active in Reading, PA in the mid 1800's that sponsored bicycle races that attracted racers from all over the world. These races pre-date the Tour de France. Dave Kline is leading an exciting project to bring these races back to Reading, PA. Dave made a special request to The Ringgold Band to record the March so that it could be played at the start of the race. This three part series takes you on a journey starting with taking you behind the scenes and a sneak peak into what it is like to prepare for the session from the conductor's point of view and continuing through the process of recording.

When she graduated from college armed with her music degree she thought she knew her trajectory. Boy was she wrong! Today Jennifer Francisco has her own successful music teaching business and a Woodwind Repair Shop. She plays clarinet with the Ringgold Band and loves sharing the excitement and passion of music with her students!

Meet George Kubovcik, past president of the Ringgold Band. He stepped down from office but not from the band. Today he plays trombone in the band and is the resident truck driver, making sure all the cases of music, CD's and the sound system get to all the performances. Like wine, the Ringgold Band just keeps getting better with age.
John Connelly is the former President of First National Bank of Leesport and the former President of the Ringgold Band. It was during his tenure that the Ringgold Band purchased a facility they call home. He learned to play clarinet in the 6th grade. After a 30 year hiatus from music John found a creative outlet In the Ringgold Band, renewed his musical talents and is still playing today!
Wendy Schmehl is in her second stint with the Ringgold Band. She started playing flute in grade school in Sinking Spring. In addition to the Ringgold Band she played in a variety of other bands including the John Phillips Sousa Memorial Band.
