My guest on this epsiode is Parker Coody, part of that young nucleus on the Texas Longhorns golf team that includes his twin brother Pierceson, Travis Vick, Will Thomson, and Cole Hammer. The final tournament of the collegiate season, before it was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, was the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas. USC won the team title, but Parker Coody came from seven shots back, caught Yuxin Lin of USC on the 18th hole to force a playoff which he ultimately won. My guest on this episode is Davis Thompson from St. Simons Island, Georgia. Davis was the runner-up to Akshay Bhatia in the 2019 Jones Cup....and when Akshay turned professional and didn't use the winner's exemption into the PGA Tour's RSM Classic....it went to Davis. What did he do with that exemption? He made the cut and picked up a top 25 finish. And that should serve him well, since he went ahead and won the 2020 Jones Cup Invitational (by 9 shots) will return to play in his 3rd PGA Tour event later this fall. He picked up First-Team All-American honors, he was a Haskins Award and Nicklaus Award finalist.....this is a young player that you will be seeing on TV for many years to come.

Tim Jackson’s 30 year golf career is defined by global greens, national records, hometown loyalty and old fashioned fun. His career is highlighted by top prizes at the 1994 and 2001 U.S. Mid-Amateur, representing the U.S. as a member of the 1995 and 1999 U.S. Walker Cup Teams, and participating in the 1995 and 2002 Masters. He also won the North and South Amateur in 1998 and the 1995 Simon Bolivar World Cup in Caracas, Venezuela. Tim captured 13 Tennessee State Championships, won the Tennessee State Amateur in 1994, 1998, 2001, and 2005 and Tennessee State Mid-Amateur in 1989, 1994, 1995, 2001, 2005, and 2010. Tim won the 2002 Tennessee State Open, the 2005 Tennessee State Match Play, and 2011 Tennessee Senior State Open. He also holds 7 City of Memphis Championships and was named Tennessee Player of the Year 9 times. Tim has been inducted into 4 Halls of Fame, is the immediate past president of the Tennessee Golf Association and current board member of the Tennessee Golf Foundation.

My guest on this episode is Alex Fitzpatrick. Alex had a solid showing at the 2019 Walker Cup where he went 2-2. He had an impressive singles victory against Cole Hammer and he also teamed up with Conor Purcell in the opening match on Saturday to defeat US Amateur Champion Andy Ogletree and my last guest, U.S. Amateur Runner-Up, John Augenstein. This episode was recorded before the coronavirus pandemic hit the United States and cancelled his sophomore season at Wake Forest. In fact, we were speaking about Wake Forest making another run towards the National Championship...before finding out later that the entire season would be cancelled. During Alex's freshman year, he won his match against Stanford's Henry Shimp in the quarterfinals. It's hard not to root for Alex.....I think you're going to see a lot of him on the amateur and collegiate scene in the next couple years. While multiple Walker Cup appearances are rare in the world of amateur golf these days......I don't think it'll be a surprise if you see him representing the GB&I team again in 2021 at Seminole. Our guest this week is Ryan Vermeer from Omaha, Nebraska. Ryan is a former two-time All-American at the University of Kansas that holds the record for most career wins as a Jayhawk....even more than Gary Woodland! He did play professionally on tour for several years, reaching the Kornferry Tour, but made the transition back to being a teaching professional in his home state of Nebraska. The transition has led him to incredible successes in the Nebraska PGA Section. In fact, he is the first Nebraska PGA Member to win the PGA Professional National Championship, which he did in 2018. He has played in numerous PGA Championships and represented the PGA of America and his country in the PGA Cup.

Our eighth episode in this series takes us down The Road to Hoylake as we catch up with the two young men that squared off in the U.S. Amateur final at Pinehurst. Andy Ogletree was victorious over John Augenstein in the end, but both have made it to Hoylake as members of the U.S. Walker Cup team. We were fortunate enough to grab them both for a quick chat at the Newark airport before they hopped a flight to the UK. Thanks to the USGA for helping us get some time with John and Andy!

The MLGT has been around since 2004 and through over 1400 tournaments, they've paid out over 8.5 million in prize money. Nearly 80 of their former players had status on the PGA and/or Web.com Tour in 2018. When Scott isn't running overseeing the day-to-day operations of the tour, he competes in amateur tournaments all over the state of Florida. Our guest this week is Scott Stallings. Before becoming a 3X winner on the PGA Tour, Scott was a two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year as a Golden Eagle at Tennessee Tech University. Scott picked up his first win in 2011 at the Greenbriar. He backed up that win in 2012 at the True South and won again in 2014 at the Farmers Insurance Open. Scott has battled health issues, but with the help of a new fitness program, he is in the best shape of his life as he enters his 9th year on the PGA Tour.
We had a fun conversation about his beloved Red Sox, his early days on tour, and his second home at Whisper Rock out in Arizona. Scott is candid and shared some interesting stories. That's what we like around here!

If you follow amateur golf, you've probably heard of Cole Hammer. As a 15 year-old, he burst on the scene at the 2015 U.S. Open. He hasn't slowed down since. After winning the 2018 US Four Ball with partner Garrett Barber earlier this year, he captured the Western Amateur as well as semifinalist honors at the US Amateur AND Junior Amateur. Our guest this week is Dennis Walters, star of the Dennis Walters Golf Show! Dennis is one of only eleven honorary lifetime members of The PGA of America. Earlier this year, the USGA awarded Dennis with the Bob Jones Award during the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. Next year, Dennis will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Dennis was an exceptional collegiate player, but before he was able to chase down the dream of playing on the PGA Tour, he had a tragic accident that left him paralyzed. As you'll find out in this episode, that didn't stop him from finding a different way to play golf. Eventually, he developed the Dennis Walters Golf Show and has been on his OWN tour for over 40 years. He's performed over 3K shows all over the world. His trick shot artistry may be the glitz and glam of the show, but most importantly....he provides a message of positivity and hard work to his audiences. Links

This week's guest is TJ Shuart from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. All that TJ has done is participate in 11 USGA championships and is one of the last men to accomplish the unique feat of qualifying for the US Amateur, US Mid-Amateur, and US Amateur Public Links in the same season. He played collegiately at Loyola University and has some great stories about some matches against current professionals like Ricky Barnes and Ryan Moore. Additionally, he launched his own amateur golf tour here in South Florida and we get into that as well.

Our guest this week is Duke Butler IV from Jacksonville, Florida. Duke grew up in Houston, TX but soon found his way to the University of Florida and played collegiate golf with the likes of Matt Every and Camilo Villegas. He participated in several USGA events and shared some great stories about those experiences. He also has some experience working behind the scenes on some PGA and Web.com events...so he has some insight on how these tournaments function and all of the hard work necessary to have them come off flawlessly.

With the Winter Olympics in full swing, we decided we needed a Canadian as a guest this week. This week's guest is Scott Kennedy, originally from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Scott played collegiately at Florida Atlantic University before transitioning into the nightclub and restaurant industry. He shared some great stories from his memorable experience playing in the 250th British Amateur at St. Andrews and most recently, his USGA Four-Ball run at Pinehurst. Oh, and he also offered some advice to Sergio Garcia for this year's Champions Dinner at The Masters. Here's a hint: It's not a tofu burger.

A very insightful interview with Ryan Jamison. Currently, he is the Asst. Coach for the Stanford Men's Golf Team. Before arriving at Stanford, all he did was lead the Nova Southeastern University Men's team to a Divison II National Championship in 2015 which awarded him Coach of the Year honors. We talk about his career as a coach and hear some stories about some Stanford Golf alums that I'm sure everyone will love to hear.

We caught up this week with Willie Spicer, one of my old college teammates from St. Thomas University. Willie comes from a golfing family and played golf at Seton Hall University. Doug Snoap discusses his start in the game growing up in Michigan and all of the fortunate breaks that came his way and eventually led to him playing college golf in Florida.
