Sonic Union
Sweden’s Erik Pettersson is better known as Sonic Union, a prolific progressive house and melodic techno producer and DJ. With a DJing and production career spanning over 20 years, his versatility, experience and sheer talent enables him to turn his hand from producing, remixing and mastering to DJing and label management.
With over 200 releases to his name to date on lauded labels such as Anjunadeep, Sudbeat, Replug, Somatic and Global Underground, he has seen continued support from world class DJs such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J. He has also remixed and been remixed by high profile artists such as Quivver, Jim Rivers, Cid Inc and Jamie Stevens to name just a few.
Erik also owns and manages well established label Lowbit Records,which celebrated its milestone 150th release on 29th September 2014. With a stellar roster of artists including Cid Inc, Roland Klinkenberg, deepfunk, Guy Mantzur, Luke Porter, Marcelo Vasami, Nikko.Z, Kobana, Khen, Chicola and many more, Lowbit is renowned for its consistent championing of top quality underground dance music, and its releases are regularly supported by world class DJs including Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Carl Cox, Above & Beyond and Nick Warren.
His technical prowess both behind the decks and the uniquely uplifting energy of his sets have to date seen him play in Europe, Japan, USA, Canada and India and hold residencies in his native Sweden and Canada.
Hooj was one of favourite labels back in the day, and I think I own almost every vinyl released form Hooj. Breeder was also a favourite artist back in the day, so when the remix competition was announced, I really wanted to do something, but do something a little different. In the background I have been working on my new alias, Tom Division which focuses on all kinds of Drum & Bass so the energy of the original just lent itself to do do a D&B remix.Hope you enjoy it!Erik

Sonic Union, the man behind the famous Lowbit teamed up with our very own Veljko Jovic for his debut single on our label. Together they have created this melodic record with a raw edge to it and dark undertones throughout. From the very first seconds, 'Proximity' emits that futuristic energy that we came to know and love from these two. With its stabby and analog leads, this one is built for late nights and afterparties.
This explosive track comes followed by three remixes by Lobor D, EMPHI, and Highjacks. On the remix duty, Lobor D brings us a real club jam with a warm atmosphere and heave dance beats. Highjacks goes a little deeper with their remix and builds up a strong festival anthem. Favorite among progressive lovers - EMPHI once again proved his quality with amazing melodic progression and hot beats.
Coming out just in time for clubs re-opening and live show acts. No matter if you listen to 'Proximity' at a club or a festival or even just sitting at your home, the party will be guaranteed.

2020 Vision EP is the result of the driving forces behind Lowbit each picking a favorite track from the Lowbit back catalog and re-imagining it for 2020.
Kicking things off is Forniva with his re-interpretation of Sonic Union's "Crucify Your Mind", originally released in September 2014 as Lowbit's 150th release. Forniva takes the high-energy original and puts his famous melodic twist on it, highlighted by beautiful orchestral strings.
Next up is Eleven Sins, who tackles Ziger's "Shadows", also originally released in 2014 and featuring Stephano Prunebelli. This fresh new take pushes it from Italo disco-inspired progressive house into a deep club banger, available as both a vocal and a dub mix.
Finally, Lowbit manager Sonic Union puts his darker twist on a more recent release, Kasper Koman's "Into Little Pieces" from 2017. The original was a big hit with its uplifting melodies and warm vibes and Sonic Union pushes it into 2020 with oodles of grit and character.
Progressive powerhouse producers Alfonso Muchacho and Sonic Union team up for the first time to deliver 'Vision' EP. After Alfonso remixed Sonic Union's track 'Adjusting Levels' on Beat Boutique late last year the pair talked about doing something together and 'Vision' EP is the result.
Starting with the eponymous 'The Vision', a deep and vibrant track based around a husky female vocal paired with a laidback groove and uplifting melodies and is a real crowd pleaser and a great set opener or closing track.

An iconic trio join forces across continental Europe to form a new flight path. Organic beats from a Dutch master, Noraj Cue hits the target with hypnotic precision as arpeggios and bass resonate in natural harmony. Controlwerk represents a rippling smorgasbord of sound, revealing itself in muted tones and rhythms that reverberate against fluorescent lit city walls. Swirling patterns radiate outwards from a sonic architecture formed from Italian roots in minimal beats. Sonic Union, the man behind Lowbit Records teams up with his longtime writing partner Bastards of Funk to deliver two new original tracks in 'Shadow Elements' EP. Starting off with 'Elements', a track that came together over an intense 4 day writing session in London a few months ago, hits the more minimal side of Sonic Union & Bastards of Funks productions with its reverb-heavy stabs, steppy bassline and chunky drums. 'Shadow' takes it down a notch with its deep house vibe with long drawn out chords, vocal stabs, ethereal strings and stripped back drums. A slightly different side from these two producers and we hope you enjoy the music!

"Another gem from the Tarnished Tracks camp, and this time, the friendly Viking 'Sonic Union' (or Erik to his mum) who is Lowbit label boss, and has appeared on Sudbeat and Perspectives Digital, collaborates with Weekend Department after his release on Personal Theatre.
The track itself is a punchy techie edged melodic gem, with plenty of drive and energy, and is crisp in its production. A teasing feel good break down, with infectious cheeky vocal samples is a smile inducer and a half!
On remix duties, Qbical, who is famed for his work on ICONYC and Manual Music to name but a few, takes firm hold and seems to strip things back, yet add extra power simultaneously.
