Even in the business and grind of life Jesus paused for a moment, looked at the people around him in their hurt and need, and felt compassion for them. However, Jesus didn't just feel that compassion and then move on, he did something about it!
Follow along as we discuss what it looks like for us today to be the answer to the prayer that Jesus and his disciples prayed and how we can also make time to have gospel conversations.
TAKE A 2ND is created for the busy college student to help you take a second and hear a word from scripture. We want to throw this 5-15 minute message on as you walk to class, drive to work, or out on a run and get your mind refocused on God. We hope this helps you know Jesus more, choose to be in community, and live out the gospel!
What is real faith? What does it look like? In Daniel 3, we see a great example of faith in action. Real faith requires one to stand when the world bows and to trust when the fires rage. When we live this way, real faith offers others the chance to see Jesus.
How does a person live in our broken world as a citizen of the Kingdom of God? How do we leverage our influence for His sake? We first need to understand the tactics of the enemy to negatively influence our minds, allegiance, and identity. Like Daniel, we need to resolve to be different.
We have an open dialogue about everything - from figuring out future relationships to how to choose between two great options, we tackle some very honest questions as we finish our semester with a 2ND College Q&A.
Where will I live? What job will I have? Who will I marry? The unknown can be a scary thing, but we can be secure in our future when we trust the unknown to a known God.
Anxiety is one of the most impactful we can face today. Jacki King teaches and shows us how the Gospel can be a safeguard to us as we navigate the struggles that anxiety can bring.
We all have regrets. What we do with those regrets can affect our days, our choices, and even our identity. We walk through the book of Hosea to see how God redeems regret, and the Gospel covers even the greatest regrets we could ever have.
We believe God has given each of us a story to tell, and it’s our duty to share. This Thursday, we have the privilege of hearing from three of our very own 2ND Fam members- Wyatt Millikin, Cooper Passmore, and Katie Chenoweth. Come celebrate the ways that God has worked in their hearts and reflect on what God is doing right now with your story.
We are called to forgive others, but there are consequences for our actions. How do we reconcile the reality of these 2 truths? Dalton Yates brings the Word and shows us how Jesus deals with both forgiveness and consequences.
John Scott joins us for a very raw and honest conversation about racial reconciliation.
In our world today, the topic of Justice is very polarizing. Where it seems like there are two sides to this justice debate, where do we turn? John Scott shows us how God both is the ultimate judge and ultimately merciful, which is very good news for us.
There are things in life that seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. When it comes to talking about our salvation, faith and works are two subjects that have a hard time co-existing. Jesus is the only one who can take those two things and make them One through the good news of the Gospel.
We continue our series with Dalton Yates showing us that when we remember what God has done for us, we can then share that hope with others. Hope truly is for everyone, and God desires ALL to be saved and to know Him.
Because of Jesus, we have a Living Hope. Our eternity is secure! But what does that mean for today? How to we take hold of and live out our salvation right now? This message talks about how we do have a living hope, and that hope is uniquely ours.
In these strange times, we could use some Hope right now. As we dive into 1 Peter, we see that Hope is alive, Hope is a person, and His name is Jesus.
Nathan and Bradley are back to discuss what prayer is, why we pray, and how they would respond to someone asking "Does prayer actually solve anything?"

Q1 (2:05) - When first developing a relationship with the Lord a lot of new believers think it has to be all or nothing is that true or is it gradual? How would you explain that to someone who thinks it has to be all or nothing?

Now that the Easter feelings have gone away, Nathan and Bradley discuss how we are to live now that the holiday is over. Easter is more than a celebration for a day; it gives us freedom, hope, and changes our eternity forever!
What do we do when doubts creep into our mind? How do we combat the lies that the enemy tells us? Bradley and Nathan talk about the reality of doubt, and the reality that God is way bigger than any doubt we could have.
Nathan and Bradley have a candid conversation about what exactly a "Quiet Time" is. If you've ever struggled with getting into God's Word, or having consistent time with Him, we hope this encourages you!
When we are interested in somebody, or are in a dating relationship, how do we know if they are the "one"? The Bible shows us what we can be looking for when searching for a future spouse. Most importantly, we need to remember that our worth is found in the One who gave us life. Until Jesus is enough, nothing else will be.
We kick off our series on relationships by talking about boundaries, both in friendship and in dating. "Setting Boundaries" sounds like a scary term, or one that is met with a lot of negativity. Scripture is very clear that Boundaries produce purpose. Boundaries are not based out of fear, but to find our ultimate purpose, which is Joy in Jesus.
What makes a good friend? How do you share your story with them? We explore the mindset of a great friend through an account that Jesus had with four men. When we desire to get our friends to the feet of Jesus, He changes everything.
We all have a story. Some of us view our lives as meaningful, while others question if we really have an impact in this life. Tonight we dive into John 4, where Jesus makes it clear just how much our lives, our stories, matter to Him.
Christmas is a wonderful time - but sometimes, there are realities that we cannot avoid simply because it is the holiday season.However, we can be encouraged no matter our reality this Christmas because we have a Living Hope, Immanuel, God with us, no matter the circumstance.
God has created women distinctly to flourish. He designed them with specific gifts, talents, and passions to do just that. Beth Toone shares with us how women can live a life of godliness by clinging to the One who is writing out their story.
God has designed men and women uniquely, with distinct roles and responsibilities. We explore several distinctions that God has given men: their call to Put Away Laziness, Protect God's Woman, and live Sacrificially.
David Raney teaches us the doctrine of the Imago Dei, the Image of God. Every human on Earth has value, purpose, and worth; not because of anything we earned, but because of the worth given to us by our Creator. It changes the way we see ourselves, as well as the way we treat others.
We dive into Galatians 5:16-26, and continue to discuss what walking in freedom practically looks like. Christ has not only set us free, but He longs for us to walk in that freedom every day.
The Gospel does not constrict us to religious rituals or the opinion of others. Galatians 5 shows us that Christ truly has set us free. If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed.
Nathan and Claudia McDivitt dive into the doctrine of Adoption as they share their own adoption journey. In Galatians 4, God shows us that He pursues us and adopts us as heirs to His Kingdom. This is the beautiful, encouraging, and personal character of Jesus.
This week, we break down a tough chapter of Galatians. Galatians 3 addresses the history of the law, and how we can obey the law and regard it as good, but ultimately JESUS IS BETTER.
During our Sunday Morning Small Group, we had the wonderful opportunity to bring up nine students to share about their different Summer experiences in the realms of Missions, Camp Ministry, and Church Internships.
We all go through situations in life where we think, "What will people think of me?" Bradley walks us through Galatians 2, and how the only perception that matters is the way Jesus sees us. We are justified by His blood, and that is enough.
We tend to think that the Gospel is Jesus.....plus other qualifications. Paul shows us through his letter to Galatia that living out the Gospel means believing that Jesus is enough.
Once we are Home, what do we do? How do we live this Christian life? The relationship between Jesus and His dear friends Mary and Martha show us that life is a balance of being in the Lord's presence and living out our purpose for Him.
If we are all Welcome Home, where exactly is Home? The parable of the Prodigal Son shows us that Home is not a place, but in the Person of the Father, who opens His arms and sprints to those who desire to return to Him.
We kick off the year by diving into 2 Samuel 9, where David shows kindness to Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth. This story is a shadow of the one to come in Jesus, who shows us that no matter who you are, or what you do, you always have a seat at the table.
Bradley shares with us how Solomon's main desire at the beginning of his kingship was to gain wisdom. We can learn many valuable things from Solomon's life, and how he chose to be wise before he chose to be powerful.
Thomas Guinee wraps up this 2ND College series by talking about the fall of Solomon, and what lessons we can learn from his life.
Saul was the first King of Israel. Instead of letting God lead, he decided to do things his way. Bradley shows us how partial obedience to God is actually no obedience at all.
Relationships are complicated; even friendships can be messy at times. Tonight we discuss what it means to be a true friend, and how we navigate the waters of authentic, real, biblical friendship.
Marriage is the deepest, most intimate relationship we can have on this Earth. More than that, marriage is a reflection of Christ's love of His bride, the Church. Bradley shares with us how glorifying God in our relationships today help prepare us for our marriages in the future.
Some people think that marriage is God's greatest gift, and singleness is for those who are not "worthy" of marriage. This is an awful lie that the enemy uses in countless lives. Tonight we look at how both marriage and singleness are equally good gifts from a Good Father.
Dating is one of the most complicated relationships to navigate. Biblically, there is no guide to dating. The Bible does, however, have a lot to say about marriage. Tonight we explore how dating can be a beautiful thing when done to glorify God.
Emily Herren's message at 2ND College highlights Jesus as our treasure. Do we truly value Him above all else?
Was it wrong for Jesus to throw tables and kick people out of the temple? Why did He do it? What can we learn from this account?

Alcohol is a very divisive topic to talk about, especially in the church. Tonight we will see that scripture has quite a bit to say about alcohol, and how the question is not "How far is to far?", but rather,"Is it wise?"

Being entitled goes beyond financial wealth or social status. We look to God's Word to show us why God desires and finds joy in a heart filled with gratitude.
At the core of a lot of our sinful habits and addictions is Pride. We look to God's Word to show us what godly humility is, and how pride must be killed, or it will eventually kill us.
