ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਮੰਞੁ ਕੁਚਜੀ ਅੰਮਾਵਣਿ ਡੋਸੜੇ ਹਉ ਕਿਉ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਣਿ ਜਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ I am ungraceful and ill-mannered, full of endless faults. How can I go to enjoy my Husband Lord?
ਇਕ ਦੂ ਇਕਿ ਚੜੰਦੀਆ ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ Each of His soul-brides is better than the rest - who even knows my name?
ਜਿਨੑੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸੇ ਅੰਬੀ ਛਾਵੜੀਏਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥ Those brides who enjoy their Husband Lord are very blessed, resting in the shade of the mango tree.
ਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੰਞੁ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਹਉ ਕੈ ਜੀ ਦੋਸ ਧਰੇਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ I do not have their virtue - who can I blame for this?
ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਥਰਾ ਹਉ ਕਿਆ ਕਿਆ ਘਿਨਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ Which of Your Virtues, O Lord, should I speak of? Which of Your Names should I chant?
ਇਕਤੁ ਟੋਲਿ ਨ ਅੰਬੜਾ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਜਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ I cannot even reach one of Your Virtues. I am forever a sacrifice to You.
ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਰੰਗੁਲਾ ਮੋਤੀ ਤੈ ਮਾਣਿਕੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ Gold, silver, pearls and rubies are pleasing.
ਸੇ ਵਸਤੂ ਸਹਿ ਦਿਤੀਆ ਮੈ ਤਿਨੑ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ My Husband Lord has blessed me with these things, and I have focused my thoughts on them.
ਮੰਦਰ ਮਿਟੀ ਸੰਦੜੇ ਪਥਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਰਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥ Palaces of brick and mud are built and decorated with stones;
ਹਉ ਏਨੀ ਟੋਲੀ ਭੁਲੀਅਸੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਬੈਠੀ ਪਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥ I have been fooled by these decorations, and I do not sit near my Husband Lord.
ਅੰਬਰਿ ਕੂੰਜਾ ਕੁਰਲੀਆ ਬਗ ਬਹਿਠੇ ਆਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ The cranes shriek overhead in the sky, and the herons have come to rest.
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਚਲੀ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ The bride has gone to her father-in-law's house; in the world hereafter, what face will she show?
ਸੁਤੀ ਸੁਤੀ ਝਾਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਭੁਲੀ ਵਾਟੜੀਆਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ She kept sleeping as the day dawned; she forgot all about her journey.
ਤੈ ਸਹ ਨਾਲਹੁ ਮੁਤੀਅਸੁ ਦੁਖਾ ਕੂੰ ਧਰੀਆਸੁ ਜੀਉ ॥ She separated herself from her Husband Lord, and now she suffers in pain.
ਤੁਧੁ ਗੁਣ ਮੈ ਸਭਿ ਅਵਗਣਾ ਇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥ Virtue is in You, O Lord; I am totally without virtue. This is Nanak's only prayer:
ਸਭਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੈ ਡੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਕਾਈ ਰਾਤਿ ਜੀਉ ॥1॥ You give all Your nights to the virtuous soul-brides. I know I am unworthy, but isn't there a night for me as well? ||1||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ 3 ॥ Aasaa, Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਊਪਜੈ ਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ Merit is obtained from the True Guru, when God causes us to meet Him.
ਸਹਜੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥1॥ Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, with intuitive ease and poise, spiritual wisdom is revealed. ||1||
ਏ ਮਨ ਮਤ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਵੇਖੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥ O my mind, do not think of the Lord as being far away; behold Him ever close at hand.
ਸਦ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਸਦ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ He is always listening, and always watching over us; the Word of His Shabad is all-pervading everywhere. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਤਿਨੑੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ The Gurmukhs understand their own selves; they meditate single-mindedly on the Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਰਵਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥2॥ They enjoy their Husband Lord continually; through the True Name, they find peace. ||2||
ਏ ਮਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ O my mind, no one belongs to you; contemplate the Shabad, and see this.
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਪਉ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥3॥ So run to the Lord's Sanctuary, and find the gate of salvation. ||3||
ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ Listen to the Shabad, and understand the Shabad, and lovingly focus your consciousness on the True One.
ਸਬਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀਐ ਸਚੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥4॥ Through the Shabad, conquer your ego, and in the True Mansion of the Lord's Presence, you shall find peace. ||4||
ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੋਭ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ In this age, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is glory; without the Name, there is no glory.
ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਚਾਰਿ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਜਾਦੀ ਬਿਲਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥5॥ The glory of this Maya lasts for only a few days; it disappears in an instant. ||5||
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਮੁਏ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ Those who forget the Naam are already dead, and they continue dying.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥6॥ They do not enjoy the sublime essence of the Lord's taste; they sink into the manure. ||6||
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਾਇ ॥ Some are forgiven by the Lord; He unites them with Himself, and keeps them attached to the Naam, night and day.
ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥7॥ They practice Truth, and abide in Truth; being truthful, they merge into Truth. ||7||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਨ ਦੇਖੀਐ ਜਗੁ ਬੋਲਾ ਅੰਨੑਾ ਭਰਮਾਇ ॥ Without the Shabad, the world does not hear, and does not see; deaf and blind, it wanders around.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥8॥ Without the Naam, it obtains only misery; the Naam is received only by His Will. ||8||
ਜਿਨ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ Those persons who link their consciousness with the Word of His Bani, are immaculately pure, and approved by the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੑਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਜਾਣੁ ॥9॥13॥35॥ O Nanak, they never forget the Naam, and in the Court of the Lord, they are known as true. ||9||13||35||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਤੁਸਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਸਾਓ ॥ The True Guru is called the Giver; in His Mercy, He grants His Grace.
ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਿਤੜਾ ਨਾਓ ॥16॥ I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru, who has blessed me with the Lord's Name. ||16||
ਸੋ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਇ ਸਨੇਹਾ ॥ Blessed, very blessed is the Guru, who brings the Lord's message.
ਹਉ ਵੇਖਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਹਾ ॥17॥ I gaze upon the Guru, the Guru, the True Guru embodied, and I blossom forth in bliss. ||17||
ਗੁਰ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ॥ The Guru's tongue recites Words of Ambrosial Nectar; He is adorned with the Lord's Name.
ਜਿਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਿਖਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਜਾਵੀ ॥18॥ Those Sikhs who hear and obey the Guru - all their desires depart. ||18||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥ Some speak of the Lord's Path; tell me, how can I walk on it?
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥19॥ O Lord, Har, Har, Your Name is my supplies; I will take it with me and set out. ||19||
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਸੇ ਸਾਹ ਵਡ ਦਾਣੇ ॥ Those Gurmukhs who worship and adore the Lord, are wealthy and very wise.
ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥20॥ I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru; I am absorbed in the Words of the Guru's Teachings. ||20||
ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੋ ਤੂਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੀਰਾ ॥ You are the Master, my Lord and Master; You are my Ruler and King.
ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਤੂ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥21॥ If it is pleasing to Your Will, then I worship and serve You; You are the treasure of virtue. ||21||
ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ॥ The Lord Himself is absolute; He is The One and Only; but He Himself is also manifested in many forms.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਾਈ ਗਲ ਚੰਗੀ ॥22॥2॥ Whatever pleases Him, O Nanak, that alone is good. ||22||2||

ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੇ ॥ I am awake, night and day, in the Lord's Love.
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਪਾਪ ਭਾਗੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥ Awake to the Lord's Love, my sins have left me. I meet with the Beloved Saints.
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਭਰਮ ਭਾਗੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਗਲ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ Attached to the Guru's Feet, my doubts are dispelled, and all my affairs are resolved.
ਸੁਣਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਜਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੈ ॥ Listening to the Word of the Guru's Bani with my ears, I know celestial peace. By great good fortune, I meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗੈ ॥1॥ Prays Nanak, I have entered my Lord and Master's Sanctuary. I dedicate my body and soul to God. ||1||
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pauree:
ਜਾ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੈ ਵਲਿ ਹੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹਛੰਦਾ ॥ When You are on my side, Lord, what do I need to worry about?
ਤੁਧੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੈਨੋ ਸਉਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ॥ You entrusted everything to me, when I became Your slave.
ਲਖਮੀ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਰਹੰਦਾ ॥ My wealth is inexhaustible, no matter how much I spend and consume.
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਸਭ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੰਦਾ ॥ The 8.4 million species of beings all work to serve me.
ਏਹ ਵੈਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਕੀਤਿਆ ਨਹ ਮੰਗਹਿ ਮੰਦਾ ॥ All these enemies have become my friends, and no one wishes me ill.
ਲੇਖਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪੁਛਈ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸੰਦਾ ॥ No one calls me to account, since God is my forgiver.
ਅਨੰਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ॥ I have become blissful, and I have found peace, meeting with the Guru, the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਭੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਿਐ ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੰਦਾ ॥7॥ All my affairs have been resolved, since You are pleased with me. ||7||

Gurinder Singh Khalsa has been extremely active as a member of the sikh community starting in 2007 where he changed the TSA security laws on religious headwear with the help of the Sikh Coalition. This year with his community he then went onto donate $6000 worth of foods and funds to the unpaid TSA workers. Gurinder Singh Khalsa has used his platform to inspire and empower others through his organizations including: SikhsPAC (FB @SikhsPAC); building a new gurdwara in Fishers, Indiana; and now he's running for city council (FB: @Singh For Council).

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਜੈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹਗੇ ॥ O God, Treasure of Mercy, please bless me, that I may sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਹਉ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਬ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ I always place my hopes in You; O God, when will you take me in Your Embrace? ||1||Pause||
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਮੁਗਧ ਇਆਨ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਮਝਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥ I am a foolish and ignorant child; Father, please teach me!
ਸੁਤੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਭੂਲਿ ਬਿਗਾਰਿ ਜਗਤ ਪਿਤ ਭਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥1॥ Your child makes mistakes again and again, but still, You are pleased with him, O Father of the Universe. ||1||
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੁਮ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਹਮ ਪਾਵਹਗੇ ॥ Whatever You give me, O my Lord and Master - that is what I receive.
ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਉਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਹਮ ਜਾਵਹਗੇ ॥2॥ There is no other place where I can go. ||2||
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਭਗਤ ਤਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥ Those devotees who are pleasing to the Lord - the Lord is pleasing to them.
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲਿ ਜਾਵਹਗੇ ॥3॥ Their light merges into the Light; the lights are merged and blended together. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥ The Lord Himself has shown mercy; He lovingly attunes me to Himself.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਵਹਿਗੇ ॥4॥6॥ Servant Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Door of the Lord, who protects his honor. ||4||6||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਸੋ ਆਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ Auspicious and approved is the birth of that humble being who chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥ I am a sacrifice to that humble being who vibrates and meditates on God, the Lord of Nirvaanaa.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥ The pains of birth and death are eradicated, upon meeting the All-knowing Lord, the Primal Being.
ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥1॥ In the Society of the Saints, he crosses over the world-ocean; O servant Nanak, he has the strength and support of the True Lord. ||1||

ਵਡਹੰਸੁ ਮਃ 5 ॥ Wadahans, Fifth Mehl:
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥ God is perfect - He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਾ ॥1॥ He blesses us with the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||1||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ Bless me with Your Grace, God, O Merciful to the meek.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥ He is totally pervading and permeating the water, the land and the sky.
ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰੇ ॥2॥ God is near at hand, not far away. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ One whom He blesses with His Grace, meditates on Him.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥3॥ Twenty-four hours a day, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੇ ॥ He cherishes and sustains all beings and creatures.

ਮਨ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥ O dear beloved mind, my friend, reflect upon the Name of the Lord of the Universe.
ਮਨ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਜੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ O dear beloved mind, my friend, the Lord shall always be with you.
ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥ The Name of the Lord shall be with you as your Helper and Support. Meditate on Him-no one who does so shall ever return empty-handed.
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਸੇਈ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ You shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires, by focusing your consciousness on the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥ He is totally pervading the water and the land; He is the Lord of the World-forest. Behold Him in exaltation in each and every heart.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਿਖ ਦੇਇ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਜਾਲੇ ॥1॥ Nanak gives this advice: O beloved mind, in the Company of the Holy, burn away your doubts. ||1||

ਅਮਾਵਸ ਆਤਮ ਸੁਖੀ ਭਏ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥ The day of the new moon: My soul is at peace; the Divine Guru has blessed me with contentment.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਲਾਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥ My mind and body are cooled and soothed, in intuitive peace and poise; I have dedicated myself to serving God.
ਟੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸਫਲ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ॥ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਿਟੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੁਟੀ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥ One who meditates in remembrance on the Name of the Lord - his bonds are broken, all his sins are erased, and his works are brought to perfect fruition; his evil-mindedness disappears, and his ego is subdued.
ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨ ॥ Taking to the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, his comings and goings in reincarnation are ended.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਵਨ ॥ He saves himself, along with his family, chanting the Praises of God, the Lord of the Universe.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਜਪੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ I serve the Lord, and I chant the Name of God.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥15॥ From the Perfect Guru, Nanak has obtained peace and comfortable ease. ||15||

ਤੁਖਾਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ 1 ॥ Tukhaari, First Mehl:
ਤਾਰਾ ਚੜਿਆ ਲੰਮਾ ਕਿਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ The meteor shoots across the sky. How can it be seen with the eyes?
ਸੇਵਕ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਦਿਖਾਲਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ The True Guru reveals the Word of the Shabad to His servant who has such perfect karma.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਦਿਖਾਲਿਆ ਸਚੁ ਸਮਾਲਿਆ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥ The Guru reveals the Shabad; dwelling on the True Lord, day and night, he beholds and reflects on God.
ਧਾਵਤ ਪੰਚ ਰਹੇ ਘਰੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥ The five restless desires are restrained, and he knows the home of his own heart. He conquers sexual desire, anger and corruption.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਭਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਚੀਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥ His inner being is illuminated, by the Guru's Teachings; He beholds the Lord's play of karma.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਤੀਣੇ ਤਾਰਾ ਚੜਿਆ ਲੰਮਾ ॥1॥ O Nanak, killing his ego, he is satisfied; the meteor has shot across the sky. ||1||
ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ Gond, Fifth Mehl:
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥ The Name of the Immaculate Lord is the Ambrosial Water.
ਰਸਨਾ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਲਾਇਣ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Chanting it with the tongue, sins are washed away. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥ The Lord abides in everyone.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ The Lord illumines each and every heart.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤੇ ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ Chanting the Lord's Name, one does not fall into hell.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥1॥ Serving the Lord, all fruitful rewards are obtained. ||1||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਧਾਰ ॥ Within my mind is the Support of the Lord.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥ The Lord is the boat to cross over the world-ocean.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਹਤ ਜਮੁ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਲਾਇਣ ॥ Chant the Lord's Name, and the Messenger of Death will run away.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੰਤ ਭਾਨੇ ਡਾਇਣ ॥2॥ The Lord breaks the teeth of Maya, the witch. ||2||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥ The Lord is forever and ever the Forgiver.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕੀਨੇ ਸੂਖ ਅਨੰਦ ॥ The Lord blesses us with peace and bliss.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਨੋ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥ The Lord has revealed His glory.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸੰਤ ਕੋ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥3॥ The Lord is the mother and father of His Saint. ||3||
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥ The Lord, the Lord, is in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਗਾਇਣ ॥ Time and time again, I sing the Lord's Praises.
ਬਸਤੁ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਹੀ ॥ Meeting with the Guru, I have attained the incomprehensible object.
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਗਹੀ ॥4॥17॥19॥ Slave Nanak has grasped the Support of the Lord. ||4||17||19||

ਰਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਇਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਹੈ ॥ To die in God, to die in God; this is your occupation.
ਮਾਇਆ ਕੋ ਸੰਗੁ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥ Through this the company of Maya is abandoned and one can avail themselves of God's shelter.
ਜਗਤ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਝੂਠੋ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੁ ਹੈ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ This world’s joy and respect is unreal and what has been created is a lie. Refrain ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਜਿਉ ਧਨੁ ਪਛਾਨੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਪਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ Recognize that wealth is a dream and there is no need to respect it.
ਬਾਰੂ ਕੀ ਭੀਤਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਕੋ ਰਾਜੁ ਹੈ ॥1॥ Kingdoms on Earth are like walls made of sand.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਕਹਤੁ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜੈਹੈ ਤੇਰੋ ਗਾਤੁ ॥ Guru Nanak as your servant says this; “Your body too shall perish.”
ਛਿਨੁ ਛਿਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਕਾਲੁ ਤੈਸੇ ਜਾਤੁ ਆਜੁ ਹੈ ॥2॥1॥ Just like today is gone, moment by moment all are gone to Kall.||2||1||
ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਹੋਤ ਦੇਖੇ ਖੇਹ ॥ Those who have forgotten the Naam, the Name of the Lord - I have seen them reduced to dust.
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਤੂਟਤੇ ਏ ਨੇਹ ॥1॥ The love of children and friends, and the pleasures of married life are torn apart. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਲੇਹ ॥ O my mind, continually, continuously chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਜਲਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੂਖੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਦੇਹ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ You shall not burn in the ocean of fire, and your mind and body shall be blessed with peace. ||1||Pause||
ਬਿਰਖ ਛਾਇਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਪਵਨ ਝੂਲਤ ਮੇਹ ॥ Like the shade of a tree, these things shall pass away, like the clouds blown away by the wind.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਆਵਤ ਏਹ ॥2॥2॥25॥ Meeting with the Holy, devotional worship to the Lord is implanted within; O Nanak, only this shall work for you. ||2||2||25||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥ By God's Grace, I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਉ ॥ By God's Kindness, I sing the songs of joy.
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਗਲ ਅਵਰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥1॥ While standing and sitting, while sleeping and while awake, meditate on the Lord, all your life. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀਆ ॥ The Holy Saint has given me the Medicine of the Naam.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਥੀਆ ॥ My sins have been cut out, and I have become pure.
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਨਿਕਸੀ ਸਭ ਪੀਰਾ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਦਰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥2॥ I am filled with bliss, and all my pains have been taken away. All my suffering has been dispelled. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਅੰਗੁ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ One who has my Beloved on his side, is liberated from the world-ocean.
ਸਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਡਰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥3॥ One who recognizes the Guru practices Truth; why should he be afraid? ||3|| ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਹਉ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਏ ॥ Since I found the Company of the Holy and met the Guru, the demon of pride has departed. ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਢਾਕਿ ਲੀਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੜਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥4॥17॥24॥ With each and every breath, Nanak sings the Lord's Praises. The True Guru has covered my sins. ||4||17||24||
ਮਃ 3 ॥ Third Mehl:
ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭਰਪੂਰੁ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ The home within is filled with Ambrosial Nectar, but the self-willed manmukh does not get to taste it.
ਜਿਉ ਕਸਤੂਰੀ ਮਿਰਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਦਾ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥ He is like the deer, who does not recognize its own musk-scent; it wanders around, deluded by doubt.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਜਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੈ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਆ ॥ The manmukh forsakes the Ambrosial Nectar, and instead gathers poison; the Creator Himself has fooled him.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਈ ਤਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ How rare are the Gurmukhs, who obtain this understanding; they behold the Lord God within themselves.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ॥ Their minds and bodies are cooled and soothed, and their tongues enjoy the sublime taste of the Lord.
ਸਬਦੇ ਹੀ ਨਾਉ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥ Through the Word of the Shabad, the Name wells up; through the Shabad, we are united in the Lord's Union.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ Without the Shabad, the whole world is insane, and it loses its life in vain.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥2॥ The Shabad alone is Ambrosial Nectar; O Nanak, the Gurmukhs obtain it. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਾਜੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥ The Lord God has arranged the marriage ceremony;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੀਆਹਣਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ He has come to marry the Gurmukh.
ਵੀਆਹਣਿ ਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥ He has come to marry the Gurmukh, who has found the Lord. That bride is very dear to her Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ The humble Saints join together and sing the songs of joy; the Dear Lord Himself has adorned the soul-bride.
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਅਪੂਰਬ ਜੰਞ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ The angels and mortal beings, the heavenly heralds and celestial singers, have come together and formed a wondrous wedding party.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥4॥1॥3॥ O Nanak, I have found my True Lord God, who never dies, and is not born. ||4||1||3||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ॥ Soohee, Fifth Mehl, Gunvantee ~ The Worthy And Virtuous Bride:
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ When I see a Sikh of the Guru, I humbly bow and fall at his feet. ਆਖਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ I tell to him the pain of my soul, and beg him to unite me with the Guru, my Best Friend. ਸੋਈ ਦਸਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੜਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ I ask that he impart to me such an understanding, that my mind will not go out wandering anywhere else.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੈ ਕੂੰ ਡੇਵਸਾ ਮੈ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਬਤਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ I dedicate this mind to you. Please, show me the Path to God.
ਹਉ ਆਇਆ ਦੂਰਹੁ ਚਲਿ ਕੈ ਮੈ ਤਕੀ ਤਉ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ I have come so far, seeking the Protection of Your Sanctuary.
ਮੈ ਆਸਾ ਰਖੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ Within my mind, I place my hopes in You; please, take my pain and suffering away!
ਇਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲੇ ਭਾਈਅੜੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ So walk on this Path, O sister soul-brides; do that work which the Guru tells you to do. ਤਿਆਗੇਂ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤੜੀ ਵਿਸਾਰੇਂ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ Abandon the intellectual pursuits of the mind, and forget the love of duality.
ਇਉ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਾਵੜਾ ਨਹ ਲਗੈ ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ In this way, you shall obtain the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan; the hot winds shall not even touch you.
ਹਉ ਆਪਹੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਮੈ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਹੁਕਮਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ By myself, I do not even know how to speak; I speak all that the Lord commands.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਕੀਆ ਪਸਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥ I am blessed with the treasure of the Lord's devotional worship; Guru Nanak has been kind and compassionate to me.
ਮੈ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖੜੀ ਹਉ ਰਜਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥ I shall never again feel hunger or thirst; I am satisfied, satiated and fulfilled.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਿਖੜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥3॥ When I see a Sikh of the Guru, I humbly bow and fall at his feet. ||3||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਥੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ Where the Naam, the Name of God the Beloved is chanted
ਸੇ ਅਸਥਲ ਸੋਇਨ ਚਉਬਾਰੇ ॥ those barren places become mansions of gold.
ਜਿਥੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਇਦਾ ਸੇਈ ਨਗਰ ਉਜਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥1॥ Where the Naam, the Name of my Lord of the Universe is not chanted-those towns are like the barren wilderness. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਰੁਖੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਇ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥ One who meditates as he eats dry bread,
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥ sees the Blessed Lord inwardly and outwardly.
ਖਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਕਰੇ ਬਦਫੈਲੀ ਜਾਣੁ ਵਿਸੂ ਕੀ ਵਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥2॥ Know this well, that one who eats and eats while practicing evil, is like a field of poisonous plants. ||2||
ਸੰਤਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਲਾਏ ॥ One who does not feel love for the Saints,
ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਿਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥ misbehaves in the company of the wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics;
ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਖੋਈ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਜੜ ਅਪੁਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥3॥ he wastes this human body, so difficult to obtain. In his ignorance, he tears up his own roots. ||3||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ I seek Your Sanctuary, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek,
ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥ Ocean of Peace, my Guru, Sustainer of the world.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮ ਅਸਾੜੀ ਜੀਉ ॥4॥30॥37॥ Shower Your Mercy upon Nanak, that he may sing Your Glorious Praises; please, preserve my honor. ||4||30||37||

ਸਾਧ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਰਸਾਲਾ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Holy Saints ever sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Source of Nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ Your meditation and remembrance is life-giving, God.
ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਸਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥2॥ You dwell near those upon whom You show mercy. ||2||
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਭੂਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਹਾਰੁ ॥ Your Name is the food to satisfy the hunger of Your humble servants.
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥3॥ You are the Great Giver, O Lord God. ||3||
ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਸੰਤਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥ The Saints take pleasure in repeating the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥4॥26॥32॥ O Nanak, the Lord, the Great Giver, is All-knowing. ||4||26||32||
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਉ ਕੁੜਮੁ ਕੁੜਮਾਈ ਆਇਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥ The soul-bride is lovingly embellished with truth and contentment; her Father, the Guru, has come to engage her in marriage to her Husband Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਲੁ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਾਈਆ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥ Joining with the humble Saints, I sing Gurbani.
ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਗਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਪੰਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੋਹਾਇਆ ॥ Singing the Guru's Bani, I have obtained the supreme status; meeting with the Saints, the self-elect, I am blessed and adorned.
ਗਇਆ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਮਮਤਾ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਠੀ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ Anger and attachment have left my body and run away; I have eradicated hypocrisy and doubt.
ਹਉਮੈ ਪੀਰ ਗਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਰੋਗਤ ਭਏ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥ The pain of egotism is gone, and I have found peace; my body has become healthy and free of disease.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥2॥ By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, I have realized God, the ocean of virtue. ||2||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਆਸਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕੇ ਚਉਪਦੇ ਇਕਤੁਕੇ ॥ Aasaa Of Kabeer Jee, Chau-Padas, Ik-Tukas:
ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ Sanak and Sanand, the sons of Brahma, could not find the Lord's limits.
ਬੇਦ ਪੜੇ ਪੜਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥1॥ Brahma wasted his life away, continually reading the Vedas. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਬਿਲੋਵਨਾ ਬਿਲੋਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Churn the churn of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny.
ਸਹਜਿ ਬਿਲੋਵਹੁ ਜੈਸੇ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Churn it steadily, so that the essence, the butter, may not be lost. ||1||Pause||
ਤਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਬਿਲੋਈ ॥ Make your body the churning jar, and use the stick of your mind to churn it.
ਇਸੁ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੰਜੋਈ ॥2॥ Gather the curds of the Word of the Shabad. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਬਿਲੋਵਨਾ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ The churning of the Lord is to reflect upon Him within your mind.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰਾ ॥3॥ By Guru's Grace, the Ambrosial Nectar flows into us. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਮਂØੀਰਾ ॥ Says Kabeer, if the Lord, our King casts His Glance of Grace,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਗਿ ਉਤਰੇ ਤੀਰਾ ॥4॥1॥10॥ one is carried across to the other side, holding fast to the Lord's Name. ||4||1||10||

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥ Listen to the Teachings of the Perfect Guru;
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਪੇਖੁ ॥ see the Supreme Lord God near you.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥ With each and every breath, meditate in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe,
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਉਤਰੈ ਚਿੰਦ ॥ and the anxiety within your mind shall depart.
ਆਸ ਅਨਿਤ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਤਰੰਗ ॥ Abandon the waves of fleeting desire,
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੰਗ ॥ and pray for the dust of the feet of the Saints.
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਹੁ ॥ Renounce your selfishness and conceit and offer your prayers.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਹੁ ॥ In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, cross over the ocean of fire.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕੇ ਭਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ Fill your stores with the wealth of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥1॥ Nanak bows in humility and reverence to the Perfect Guru. ||1||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ਇਕਤੁਕੇ ਚਉਪਦੇ ॥ Aasaa, Fifth Mehl, Ik-Tukas, Chau-Padas:
ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦਿਹਾਰੇ ॥ One moment, one day, is for me many days.
ਮਨੁ ਨ ਰਹੈ ਕੈਸੇ ਮਿਲਉ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥1॥ My mind cannot survive - how can I meet my Beloved? ||1||
ਇਕੁ ਪਲੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਬਿਹਾਵੈ ॥ I cannot endure one day, even one instant without Him.
ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਘਨੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ My mind's desire for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is so great. Is there any Saint who can lead me to meet my Beloved? ||1||Pause||
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਹਰ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਹ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥ The four watches of the day are like the four ages.
ਰੈਣਿ ਭਈ ਤਬ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੇ ॥2॥ And when night comes, I think that it shall never end. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਵਿਛੋੜੀ ॥ The five demons have joined together, to separate me from my Husband Lord.
ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਰੋਵੈ ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋੜੀ ॥3॥ Wandering and rambling, I cry out and wring my hands. ||3||
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ The Lord has revealed the Blessed Vision of His Darshan to servant Nanak;

ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਪਰਹੁ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਂ ॥3॥2॥ Chant only the One Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mortal, and seek the Sanctuary of the One Lord. ||3||2||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥ My mind is in love with the Lord.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਚੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har; my lifestyle is pure and true. ||1||Pause||
ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਘਣੀ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ॥ I have such a great thirst for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; I think of him in so many ways.
ਕਰਹੁ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥1॥ So be Merciful, O Supreme Lord; shower Your Mercy upon me, O Lord, Destroyer of pride. ||1||
ਮਨੁ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਆਇਆ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥ My stranger soul has come to join the Saadh Sangat.
ਜਿਸੁ ਵਖਰ ਕਉ ਚਾਹਤਾ ਸੋ ਪਾਇਓ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥2॥ That commodity, which I longed for, I have found in the Love of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਜੇਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ There are so many pleasures and delights of Maya, but they pass away in an instant.
ਭਗਤ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਭੁੰਚਹਿ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥3॥ Your devotees are imbued with Your Name; they enjoy peace everywhere. ||3||
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਚਲਤਉ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥ The entire world is seen to be passing away; only the Lord's Name is lasting and stable.
ਕਰਿ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਈ ਸਾਧ ਸਿਉ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਠਾਉ ॥4॥ So make friends with the Holy Saints, so that you may obtain a lasting place of rest. ||4||
ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪਾ ਕੋਊ ਹੋਤ ਨ ਸਾਥ ॥ Friends, acquaintances, children and relatives - none of these shall be your companion.
ਏਕੁ ਨਿਵਾਹੂ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਦੀਨਾ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਾਥ ॥5॥ The Lord's Name alone shall go with you; God is the Master of the meek. ||5||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਭਏ ਲਗਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਤੇਹ ॥ The Lord's Lotus Feet are the Boat; attached to Them, you shall cross over the world-ocean.
ਭੇਟਿਓ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹ ॥6॥ Meeting with the Perfect True Guru, I embrace True Love for God. ||6|| ਸਾਧ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਜਾਚਨਾ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ॥ The prayer of Your Holy Saints is, ""May I never forget You, for even one breath or morsel of food.""
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸਿ ॥7॥ Whatever is pleasing to Your Will is good; by Your Sweet Will, my affairs are adjusted. ||7||
ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਉਪਜੇ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥ I have met my Beloved, the Ocean of Peace, and Supreme Bliss has welled up within me.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਮਿਟੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭੇਟੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥8॥1॥2॥ Says Nanak, all my pains have been eradicated, meeting with God, the Lord of Supreme Bliss. ||8||1||2||
ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ 3 ਘਰੁ 1 ॥ Sorat'h, Third Mehl, First House:
ਤਿਹੀ ਗੁਣੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥ The three worlds are entangled in the three qualities, O Siblings of Destiny; the Guru imparts understanding.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗਿ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਭਾਈ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀਆ ਜਾਇ ॥1॥ Attached to the Lord's Name, one is emancipated, O Siblings of Destiny; go and ask the wise ones about this. ||1||
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਉਥੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ O mind, renounce the three qualities, and focus your consciousness on the fourth state.
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Dear Lord abides in the mind, O Siblings of Destiny; ever sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||Pause||
ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਊਪਜੇ ਭਾਈ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ From the Naam, everyone originated, O Siblings of Destiny; forgetting the Naam, they die away.
ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਗਤੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਸੂਤੇ ਗਏ ਮੁਹਾਇ ॥2॥ The ignorant world is blind, O Siblings of Destiny; those who sleep are plundered. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥ Those Gurmukhs who remain awake are saved, O Siblings of Destiny; they cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥3॥ In this world, the Name of the Lord is the true profit, O Siblings of Destiny; keep it enshrined within your heart. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਉਬਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ In the Guru's Sanctuary, O Siblings of Destiny, you shall be saved; be lovingly attuned to the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਉ ਬੇੜਾ ਨਾਉ ਤੁਲਹੜਾ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਜਨ ਪਾਇ ॥4॥9॥ O Nanak, the Name of the Lord is the boat, and the Name is the raft, O Siblings of Destiny; setting out on it, the Lord's humble servant crosses over the world-ocean. ||4||9||

ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਰਹੁ ॥ Come, O Saints, and join together, O my Siblings of Destiny; let us tell the Stories of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਹੈ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਹੁ ॥1॥ The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the boat in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; the Word of the Guru's Shabad is the boatman to ferry us across. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਉਚਰਹੁ ॥ O my mind, chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਹੁ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ According to the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon your forehead, sing the Praises of the Lord; join the Holy Congregation, and cross over the world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਰਹੁ ॥ Within the body-village is the Lord's supreme, sublime essence. How can I obtain it? Teach me, O humble Saints.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਫਲ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਅਹੁ ॥2॥ Serving the True Guru, you shall obtain the Fruitful Vision of the Lord's Darshan; meeting Him, drink in the ambrosial essence of the Lord's Nectar. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਦਿਖਹੁ ॥ The Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is so sweet; O Saints of the Lord, taste it, and see.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਤਿਨ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਖ ਰਸਹੁ ॥3॥ Under Guru's Instruction, the Lord's essence seems so sweet; through it, all corrupt sensual pleasures are forgotten. ||3||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਹੁ ॥ The Name of the Lord is the medicine to cure all diseases; so serve the Lord, O humble Saints.
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਹੁ ॥4॥4॥ The four great blessings are obtained, O Nanak, by vibrating upon the Lord, under Guru's Instruction. ||4||4||
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pauree:
ਮਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਜੋੜੇ ॥ To imbue the mind with the Lord of the Universe is the true food and dress.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਏ ਹਸਤੀ ਘੋੜੇ ॥ To embrace love for the Name of the Lord is to possess horses and elephants.
ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਘਣੀ ਧਿਆਇ ਮੁਖੁ ਨ ਮੋੜੇ ॥ To meditate on the Lord steadfastly is to rule over kingdoms of property and enjoy all sorts of pleasures.
ਢਾਢੀ ਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਦਰੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਛੋੜੇ ॥ The minstrel begs at God's Door - he shall never leave that Door.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਲੋੜੇ ॥21॥1॥ ਸੁਧੁ ਕੀਚੇ Nanak has this yearning in his mind and body - he longs continually for God. ||21||1|| Sudh Keechay||
ਮਃ 3 ॥ Third Mehl:
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ Through egotism, fascination with Maya has trapped them in duality.
ਨਾ ਇਹ ਮਾਰੀ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਨਾ ਇਹ ਹਟਿ ਵਿਕਾਇ ॥ It cannot be killed, it does not die, and it cannot be sold in a store.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਰਜਾਲੀਐ ਤਾ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is burnt away, and then it departs from within.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਜਲਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ The body and mind become pure, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to dwell within the mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਣੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥2॥ O Nanak, the Shabad is the killer of Maya; the Gurmukh obtains it. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੇਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬੀਜੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਜਮਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ As Gurmukh, plant the crop of the Lord within the field of your body, and let it grow.
ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਭੁੰਚੁ ਤੂ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਪਰਥਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥ Within the home of your own being, enjoy the Lord's subtle essence, and earn profits in the world hereafter.
ਲਾਹਾ ਪਰਥਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਧਨੁ ਖੇਤੀ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥ This profit is earned by enshrining the Lord within your mind; blessed is this farming and trade.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਬੂਝੈ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ Meditating on the Lord's Name, and enshrining Him within your mind, you shall come to understand the Guru's Teachings.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਖੇਤੀ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥ The self-willed manmukhs have grown weary of this farming and trade; their hunger and thirst will not go away.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੀਜਿ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥2॥ O Nanak, plant the seed of the Name within your mind, and adorn yourself with the True Word of the Shabad. ||2||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਨੰਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ I am in ecstasy, O my mother, for I have found my True Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀਆ ਵਾਧਾਈਆ ॥ I have found the True Guru, with intuitive ease, and my mind vibrates with the music of bliss.
ਰਾਗ ਰਤਨ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਪਰੀਆ ਸਬਦ ਗਾਵਣ ਆਈਆ ॥ The jewelled melodies and their related celestial harmonies have come to sing the Word of the Shabad.
ਸਬਦੋ ਤ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਹਰੀ ਕੇਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥ The Lord dwells within the minds of those who sing the Shabad.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥1॥ Says Nanak, I am in ecstasy, for I have found my True Guru. ||1||
ਏ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ O my mind, remain always with the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਰਹੁ ਤੂ ਮੰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੂਖ ਸਭਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਾ ॥ Remain always with the Lord, O my mind, and all sufferings will be forgotten.
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਓਹੁ ਕਰੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਾ ॥ He will accept You as His own, and all your affairs will be perfectly arranged.
ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥ Our Lord and Master is all-powerful to do all things, so why forget Him from your mind?
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ॥2॥ Says Nanak, O my mind, remain always with the Lord. ||2||
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥ O my True Lord and Master, what is there which is not in Your celestial home?
ਘਰਿ ਤ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਪਾਵਏ ॥ Everything is in Your home; they receive, unto whom You give.
ਸਦਾ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਏ ॥ Constantly singing Your Praises and Glories, Your Name is enshrined in the mind.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਬਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥ The divine melody of the Shabad vibrates for those, within whose minds the Naam abides.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥3॥ Says Nanak, O my True Lord and Master, what is there which is not in Your home? ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥ The True Name is my only support.
ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੁਖਾ ਸਭਿ ਗਵਾਈਆ ॥ The True Name is my only support; it satisfies all hunger.
ਕਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਇਛਾ ਸਭਿ ਪੁਜਾਈਆ ॥ It has brought peace and tranquility to my mind; it has fulfilled all my desires.
ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆ ਏਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥ I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru, who possesses such glorious greatness.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਰਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥ Says Nanak, listen, O Saints; enshrine love for the Shabad.
ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥4॥ The True Name is my only support. ||4||
ਵਾਜੇ ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ॥ The Panch Shabad, the five primal sounds, vibrate in that blessed house.
ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਕਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥ In that blessed house, the Shabad vibrates; He infuses His almighty power into it.
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥ Through You, we subdue the five demons of desire, and slay Death, the torturer.
ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥ Those who have such pre-ordained destiny are attached to the Lord's Name.
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਆ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ॥5॥ Says Nanak, they are at peace, and the unstruck sound current vibrates within their homes. ||5||
ਅਨਦੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ Listen to the song of bliss, O most fortunate ones; all your longings shall be fulfilled.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਉਤਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ॥ I have obtained the Supreme Lord God, and all sorrows have been forgotten.
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ਉਤਰੇ ਸੁਣੀ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ Pain, illness and suffering have departed, listening to the True Bani.
ਸੰਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਭਏ ਸਰਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Saints and their friends are in ecstasy, knowing the Perfect Guru.
ਸੁਣਤੇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਹਤੇ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥ Pure are the listeners, and pure are the speakers; the True Guru is all-pervading and permeating.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰੇ ॥40॥1॥ Prays Nanak, touching the Guru's Feet, the unstruck sound current of the celestial bugles vibrates and resounds. ||40||1||
ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਮੇਰੋ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ॥ Khalsa is my true form

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਓ ॥ Meeting with the humble Saints, sing the Praises of the Lord.
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਦੂਖ ਗਵਾਇਓ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The pains of millions of incarnations shall be eradicated. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਚਾਹਤ ਸੋਈ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਇਓ ॥ Whatever your mind desires, that you shall obtain.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿਵਾਇਓ ॥1॥ By His Kind Mercy, the Lord blesses us with His Name. ||1||
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਾਈ ॥ All happiness and greatness are in the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥2॥1॥7॥ By Guru's Grace, Nanak has gained this understanding. ||2||1||7||
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਕਾਮੁ ॥ O friends, O Saints, make this your work.
ਆਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ Renounce everything else, and chant the Name of the Lord.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace.
ਆਪਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ Chant the Naam yourself, and inspire others to chant it.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਤਰੀਐ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ By loving devotional worship, you shall cross over the world-ocean.
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਛਾਰੁ ॥ Without devotional meditation, the body will be just ashes.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ All joys and comforts are in the treasure of the Naam.
ਬੂਡਤ ਜਾਤ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥ Even the drowning can reach the place of rest and safety.
ਸਗਲ ਦੂਖ ਕਾ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਾਸੁ ॥ All sorrows shall vanish.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਗੁਨਤਾਸੁ ॥5॥ O Nanak, chant the Naam, the treasure of excellence. ||5||
ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੁ ਕਰੇ ॥ O mind, chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜਿ ਪਉ ਜਿੰਦੂ ਸਭ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਪਰਹਰੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Hurry to the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Guru, O my soul; all your sins shall be taken away. ||1||Pause||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਿਤੁ ਭਤਿ ॥ The All-pervading Lord dwells within each and every person's heart-how can He be obtained?
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਆਇ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ॥ By meeting the Perfect Guru, the True Guru, the Lord comes to dwell within the conscious mind.
ਮੈ ਧਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਗਤਿ ਮਤਿ ॥ The Naam is my Support and Sustenance. From the Lord's Name, I obtain salvation and understanding.
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਜਤਿ ਪਤਿ ॥ My faith is in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. The Lord's Name is my status and honor.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿ ॥5॥ Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He is dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love. ||5||
ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ Soohee, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ May there be such an auspicious time, O my Beloved,
ਜਿਤੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥1॥ when, with my tongue, I may chant the Lord's Name||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ Hear my prayer, O God, O Merciful to the meek.
ਸਾਧ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਰਸਾਲਾ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Holy Saints ever sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Source of Nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪੁ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ Your meditation and remembrance is life-giving, God.
ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਸਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥2॥ You dwell near those upon whom You show mercy. ||2||
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਭੂਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਹਾਰੁ ॥ Your Name is the food to satisfy the hunger of Your humble servants.
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥3॥ You are the Great Giver, O Lord God. ||3||
ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਸੰਤਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥ The Saints take pleasure in repeating the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥4॥26॥32॥ O Nanak, the Lord, the Great Giver, is All-knowing. ||4||26||32||
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ 4 ॥ Shalok, Fourth Mehl:
ਕਿਆ ਸਵਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ Who is asleep, and who is awake? Those who are Gurmukh are approved.
ਜਿਨਾ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰਧਾਨ ॥ Those who do not forget the Lord, with each and every breath and morsel of food, are the perfect and famous persons.
ਕਰਮੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਗੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ By His Grace they find the True Guru; night and day, they meditate.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ I join the society of those persons, and in so doing, I am honored in the Court of the Lord.
ਸਉਦੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਉਚਰਹਿ ਉਠਦੇ ਭੀ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥ While asleep, they chant, ""Waaho! Waaho!"", and while awake, they chant, ""Waaho!"" as well.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਜਿ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਸੰਮਾਲੇਨਿ ॥1॥ O Nanak, radiant are the faces of those, who rise up early each day, and dwell upon the Lord. ||1||
ਵੀਆਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ My marriage has been performed, O my father. As Gurmukh, I have found the Lord.
ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੁ ਬਲਾਇਆ ॥ The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. The Guru has revealed the blazing light of spiritual wisdom.
ਬਲਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲਾਧਾ ॥ This spiritual wisdom given by the Guru shines forth, and the darkness has been dispelled. I have found the Priceless Jewel of the Lord.
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਥਾ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਖਾਧਾ ॥ The sickness of my ego has been dispelled, and my pain is over and done. Through the Guru's Teachings, my identity has consumed my identical identity.
ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ I have obtained my Husband Lord, the Akaal Moorat, the Undying Form. He is Imperishable; He shall never die, and He shall never ever leave.
ਵੀਆਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੋਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥2॥ My marriage has been performed, O my father. As Gurmukh, I have found the Lord. ||2||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਸਮਾਗੈ ॥ Worship and adore God in your mind and body; join the Company of the Holy.
ਉਚਰਤ ਗੁਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਜਸੁ ਦੂਰ ਤੇ ਜਮੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥1॥ Chanting the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, the Messenger of Death runs far away. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦ ਜਾਗੈ ॥ That humble being who chants the Lord's Name, remains always awake and aware, night and day.
ਤੰਤੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਨਹ ਜੋਹਈ ਤਿਤੁ ਚਾਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ He is not affected by charms and spells, nor is he harmed by the evil eye. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਦ ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਅਨਰਾਗੈ ॥ Sexual desire, anger, the intoxication of egotism and emotional attachment are dispelled, by loving devotion.
ਆਨੰਦ ਮਗਨ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਾਗੈ ॥2॥4॥68॥ One who enters the Lord's Sanctuary, O Nanak, remains merged in ecstasy in the subtle essence of the Lord's Love. ||2||4||68||
ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥ Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਭੂਲੇ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਬਤਾਇਆ ॥ He places the one who strays back on the Path;
ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥1॥ such a Guru is found by great good fortune. ||1||
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਮਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥ Meditate, contemplate the Name of the Lord, O mind.
ਬਸਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Beloved Feet of the Guru abide within my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥ The mind is engrossed in sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment.
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥2॥ Breaking my bonds, the Guru has liberated me. ||2||
ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਕਰਤ ਜਨਮਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਮੂਆ ॥ Experiencing pain and pleasure, one is born, only to die again.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੁਰਿ ਆਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਦੀਆ ॥3॥ The Lotus Feet of the Guru bring peace and shelter. ||3||
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਬੂਡਤ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ The world is drowning in the ocean of fire.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥4॥3॥8॥ O Nanak, holding me by the arm, the True Guru has saved me. ||4||3||8||
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ Pauree:
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚਲਾਏ ॥ Meditate on that Name of the Lord, O my mind, whose Command rules over all.
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਏ ॥ Chant that Name of the Lord, O my mind, which will save you at the very last moment.
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ Chant that Name of the Lord, O my mind, which shall drive out all hunger and desire from your mind.
ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਤਿਨ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਭਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ Very fortunate and blessed is that Gurmukh who chants the Naam; it shall bring all slanderers and wicked enemies to fall at his feet.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਡਾ ਸਭਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਅਗੈ ਆਣਿ ਨਿਵਾਏ ॥15॥ O Nanak, worship and adore the Naam, the Greatest Name of all, before which all come and bow. ||15||
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥ Praise the Formless Lord in your mind.
ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥ O my mind, make this your true occupation.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਉ ॥ Let your tongue become pure, drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar.
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥ Your soul shall be forever peaceful.
ਨੈਨਹੁ ਪੇਖੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ With your eyes, see the wondrous play of your Lord and Master.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ In the Company of the Holy, all other associations vanish.
ਚਰਨ ਚਲਉ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥ With your feet, walk in the Way of the Lord.
ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਬਿੰਦ ॥ Sins are washed away, chanting the Lord's Name, even for a moment.
ਕਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ॥ So do the Lord's Work, and listen to the Lord's Sermon.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਊਜਲ ਮਥਾ ॥2॥ In the Lord's Court, O Nanak, your face shall be radiant. ||2||
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥ Ashtapadee:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕੀ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥ The True Guru cherishes His Sikh.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ The Guru is always merciful to His servant.
ਸਿਖ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਿਰੈ ॥ The Guru washes away the filth of the evil intellect of His Sikh.
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥ Through the Guru's Teachings, he chants the Lord's Name.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੈ ॥ The True Guru cuts away the bonds of His Sikh.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਿਖੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਹਾਟੈ ॥ The Sikh of the Guru abstains from evil deeds.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕਉ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ The True Guru gives His Sikh the wealth of the Naam.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਿਖੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹੇ ॥ The Sikh of the Guru is very fortunate.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕਾ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥ The True Guru arranges this world and the next for His Sikh.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕਉ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥1॥ O Nanak, with the fullness of His heart, the True Guru mends His Sikh. ||1||
